Hi everyone, I just wanted to add my two cents about Andy Cutler's protocol. I have been chelating with his protocol for over a month. I take 100 mgs. DMSA and 100 mgs. ALA every three hours (including during the night) for three days on and five days off. I just ended my 5th chelation campaign. I am already seeing improvements in my health and symptoms. 6 weeks ago, I was in a debilitated state with incapacitating fatigue and tons of other problems. I was too weak to drive anymore. Granted my doctors have given me lots of nutritional support, but I notice that after each chelation campaign, I get even a bit better. My doctor keeps saying "chelation is the cure". I know that a lot of people here don't really do "true chelation". I know that everyone has their own ideas and beliefs about what is best for them. However, I believe that when you are really poisoned with mercury, you need to take chelators that will bind to that mercury and take it out of your body and your brain, especially. ALA is the only thing I know of that gets it out of the brain, (besides cilantro) but there is no known protocol for cilantro that I know of. This protocol is working for me and many other people. I hate to see people get their fillings out and then not get the mercury out properly, and leave it in their brain for further damage to occur later. It takes 16-25 years for mercury to start coming out of the brain I believe. I guess I just want to let people know that this protocol is very safe and it works. People shouldn't be afraid of it and think that taking chlorella is better. Andy explains that chlorella is not a "chelator" in the true sense. It will move mercury around, but not necessarily take it out. This is true of other agents some doctors are using, such as MSM. You can buy DMSA without a script, but if you use it on your own, you should watch out for any signs of "neutropenia" or white blood cell drop, e.g. signs of fever, sore throat or infection. DMSA can do this, though not often. If so, you stop using it and later you can begin again. Meanwhile you use the ALA with it. Andy's protocol works.

Hi Sandra.

I'm mercury and copper poisoned and have spent a great deal of time researching for a safe and effective chelation method. I decided to pass on EDTA and DMPS and tried Cutlers protocol, both high and very low doses of ALA and DMSA. I haveto disagree that this method is "very safe" and "people shouldn't be afraid of it". Many mercury poisoned people, such as myself, are so sick and damaged by metals that there are serious problems with the elimination organs; liver, kidneys, digestive tract and skin. Using an aggressive chemical chelator such as DMSA can cause extensive damage to already weakened organs.

DMSA can cause lowered kidney creatinine clearance, proteinuria, kidney enzyme elevations, autoimmune antibodies and as you mentioned, neutroperia. DMSA also feeds candida and can create digestive disturbances. It, unfortunately, chelates minerals such as magnesium, chromium, zinc, and managense.

ALA is very gut irritating, feeds candida, greatly affects blood sugar levels and prevents copper detoxing. Although ALA has fewer side-effects it, unfortunately, has to be combined with DMSA as it mobilizes but doesn't bind with mercury.

Each time I tried a chelation round, I felt more weakend than pre-treatment and knew it wasn't simply a herxheimer reaction. I then made the decition to support my own detox pathways by upping my glutathione levels. This is working well (more energy, less brain-fog)

You are very fortunate that you can tolerate such high doses of both ALA and DMSA and seeing results so soon. But please understand that there are less fortunate mercury poisoned people out there who could end up in hospital. None of the chemical chelators are "very safe".

That's exactly what this forum is for. Sharing experiences and ideas so we can make informed decisions about what path we want to take.

Cutler has make great contributions to this field and I am very thankful for his work. Although I choose a more "natural" and long-term approach which worked well for me, I'm interested to know how a more agressive approach works for others.

Thanks.

Anonymous claims that my protocol is not "very safe."

This is true.

Frankly, from the way Anonymous discusses it I am not sure he USED my protocol, but I will be the first to tell you that there are risks, not everyone does well on high doses, some people don't even do well on low doses, and both some sense and caution are required.

The list of problems from DMSA that are listed are bogus and are what makes me think Anonymous is generally upset about life rather than having actually used a specific protocol and had problems with it.

The only accurate things in the 'problems' list are yeast and neutropenia (neutrophils are what control yeast), and this happens SLOWLY if you are using the protocol I describe in Amalgam Illness or Hair Test Interpretation.

Some people do find they have to skip the DMSA due to yeast. DMSA is optional, it can simply be left out or replaced with DMPS if desired.

None of the actual and supposed detox agents (other than the ones that don't do anything) are "safe," and their risks are much higher in toxic people than in normal healthy individuals.

Is this Andy Cutler himself responding??? Surely not....

I'm (a she) just a "regular" heavy metal poisoned person, but with tons of knowledge from continous research (books, internet, dentists, fellow toxic people and own experience). I HAVE used your protocol which I also confirmed in my previous post, and I find it questionable that you choose to undermine this.

Your very rude remark that I must be "generally upset about life" is quite disturbing - not the kind of personal attack one would expect from a professional. Because of this, you seem narrowminded about your protocol which in turn makes me question your integrity on a whole.

I do commend you for having the available time to visit a internet forum and confirm the exact purpose of my original post, "that risks are higher in toxic people and none of them are safe"..........

But why would "normal healthy individuals" use detox agents in the first place?

If I were trying this method, I would first take plenty of kidney & liver tonics (maybe the Oriental variety).

Someone posted above that it takes 16-25 years to remove mercury from the brain. What proof is there of this? What did those crazy scientists do - take some godforsaken primates, place mercury into their brains through one method or another, then start detox on the poor creatures and 16-25 years later they killed them, analyzed them, and found the brain to be clear? Please point me toward the proof, as I have not read a great deal of the experts' literature.

16-25 years? This is like the doctor telling a person with cancer that they have 6 months to live, in the sense that it induces feelings of hopelessness and futility. (It would in me, anyway.)

If I were a medical pracitioner I would never talk to anyone that way, or promulgate such "information", not directly, nor through the masses in a book. More than anything, people need to feel optimistic.

This thread has turned pretty nasty.

Sandra getting back to your progress, I'm really keen to hear how you are going on the protocol. I've found your post really helpful and informative sofar - so please keep us posted re what you are experiencing.

I'm starting the cutler protocol slowly in the next couple of weeks (my 3 months will be up)

Hi,

I just wanted to add to what Sandra said - I too have been using the Cutler protocol with good results. I have been more convinced by the reasoning behind the Cutler protocol that any other - it seems very rational and is based on the principle of slow, steady chelation, though using some fairly powerful agents.

DMSA and ALA can be harmful if not used properly. It's important to start slowly, and stop anything if a bad reaction occurs - start with a low dose to see how much you can tolerate, and then work up. If you do this, then it's safe.

I started on 30mg if DMSA. I'm now on 60mg, which feels about right. 100mg is quite high but if you can tolerate it Sandra that's great! I tried ALA a couple of months ago, but even a tiny amount (4mg) caused an Hg reaction. I assume my body burden was still too high at that point. I'll try it again when I'm further down the line.

I know that Hg is buried quite "deep" in my system, and I need something fairly strong (without being too agressive!) to get it out. I tried Algin, but unfornately it didn't have much effect in my case.

The main benefit I have noticed from taking DMSA is that I can now exercise without having an adverse reaction. I also feel "cleaner" somehow.

Just wanted to clarify a point that Cici made...

Algin isn't going to pull mercury buried deep in the tissues, that's not how it works.

Algin is used to help absorb the mercury that has already been released or pulled out of the tissues by things like ALA.

Because Algin doesn't pull mercury out of the tissues, people with amalgam fillings can use it to help reduce their symptoms even before they get their amalgams removed.

I recommend using Algin especially with ALA or other detox products because it helps to prevent the "released" mercury from being reabsorbed and redistributed.

If you tried Algin and didn't notice any improvement in your symptoms, then perhaps you need to take more. Algin works like a sponge so you need to have adequate amounts depending on how much mercury is present. Sometimes 3-4 capsules is enough for me, but other times, I have to take more before the symptoms subside.

If you've been detoxing for a while and you're not experiencing any mercury symptoms, then you may be ready to do more aggressive detoxing, which is great.

I think the key is balance...which is different for everyone. You want to detox as much as your body can handle without getting sick or redistributing mercury. For some, that means simply drinking lots of water, taking vitamin C and algin, and maybe doing a little exercise here and there to promote extra circulation without causing too much strain on the body. I know in the beginning, even 30 minutes of aerobic exercise made me feel terrible and really increased my mercury symptoms.

Of course, not everyone is in a position to be able to follow Cutler's protocol, and if so, that's fine. Do what you can and don't feel pressured to do more than your body can handle. Many people have to be able to work a full-time job, take care of children and family, etc. and cannot (or do not) want to detox too much. For those of us in that situation, slow and easy is best. Yes, it may take longer to detox and get the mercury out, but at least it's coming out. Every day is a little more progress.

For those of you that want to follow Cutler's protocol, by all means, go for it. I'm so glad to hear that several people are experiencing good results. Please keep sharing with all of us, because new people are joining all the time, and we're all at a different stages in the journey.

That's what this forum is all about...sharing, learning and benefitting!

Why can you purchase ALA in little dosages? The only the best herbs comes in 250 mgs but I noticed that several folks do small amounts to start with. Right now I take 10 mg in am and 10 mg in pm its in my multi-vit/min capsule.

Kirkman Labs do ALA in 25mg capsules. http://www.kirkmanlabs.com/

And even this is too a high dose to start for some people. I will be starting at or below 6mg. I think it can work very well in clearing brain fog, but if you take too high a dose it can lead to big detox symptoms.

If you are following Andy's schedule, you should be taking ALA every 3-4 hours to avoid redistribution. His protocol is discussed on this forum.

Hope this helps.

Thank you Diana and Nicola. Just to comment on Sandra's results. I agree, based on 6 months experience. My family can't believe how I have improved using Andy Cutler's protocol. I, too, did have to start at small doses of ALA (I cut a tablet into sixths at first). However, now I am able to use 25 mg. every 3 hours.

I was frustrated after amalgam removal because I didn't know where to start to get this poison out of my body. Everytime I found something that looked promising, I found another source that said that it was not safe.

When I read about Andy's protocol, it made sense and I wanted to try it. Andy has a doctorate in chemistry from Princeton, as well as a bachelor's in physics from University of California. When one reads his book they realize that he knows what he's speaking about, and from what I can see, leaves no stone unturned. Slow and steady chelation seems the safest way to go.

I have tried different routes but for me I think that I have to use some aggressive and potentially dangerous chelation protocols because I believe that mercury is buried deep in my brain.

Before I came to this forum I started taking IV DMPS infusions and that was very rough but I think that it took a lot of mercury out of me. Last spring I got Andy Cutler's book on amalgam illness but I still chose to complete a series of 20 DMPS infusions.

Starting last summer I began chelation with the Cutler protocol and I think that is finally bearing some fruit. I have found that 25 mgs. of DMSA and 50 mgs. of ALA seems to work the best for me.

Both the DMPS and the DMSA/ALA route have made me sick so I can't say that either way is totally safe. However, it's better than doing nothing and having no chance of ever getting well.

Sandra - I'm so happy to hear about your improvements, because success stories are few and far between! It's encouraging. And I like to have info about the different methods of chelation, even if there isn't one right way. So thanks for the info.

Just a side note on Chlorella, and the worry that it might not be a "true" chelator. My doctor said that low amounts of chlorella only shake things up, and get them moving, but do not chelate. BUT, higher doses will chelate. He said that the first 4 pills are good for shaking things up, and the next 4 are good for binding and pulling it out of the body. That's why people often feel worse and don't get better with low doses of chlorella, because it doesn't truly chelate. But he feels that higher doses do the job.

I'm certainly not an expert on this, and could not verify whether the above information is accurate or not, that is just my doctor's professional opinion, so I wanted to share it.

I'm still debating about which route to take once I start chelation....the Cutler protocol or NDF Plus....

~Tia

PS - I wouldn't lose respect for Andy Cutler based on the above post, simply because it seems unlikely that the post was actually written by him...

I would have to disagree here and say it probably was Cutler above who wrote it. I have experienced the same kind of rudeness.

NDF Plus or NDF looks a very good option in my opinion. I am currently dealing with issues that need to be addressed before detox, and then it makes NDF safer to take. The chlorella in it is tiny particles which means enhanced absortion. NDF has been scientifically proven to be the best chelator as it has no "end-point" meaning it can dig mercury out that other chelators cannot. It's not just chlorella in it, and all the ingredients are made bio-available.

Just my thoughts.

Hi Tia, unfortuantely I think the above post was written by Andy Cutler. I have come across this in him a few times and been taken aback by it and so have others.

Not sure why either. I'd say his time is limited, he's bombarded daily by sick people on email, in reality and some of those would be most difficult and annoying to deal with. So Andy doesn't muck around, he will give you it straight from the shoulder. Sadly, on occassion he can come across as being rather rude and arrogant when it's not always necessary or he's directed it at a person that does not always deserve it.

But it doesn't take away the amazing success he has had and continues to have with the many adults/children who suffer with this dreaded illness. THe main thing is, results and following the direction precisely. THere have been those who have not even been honest about following his protocol and have openly criticised him or whinged about it, wasting a lot of time (including his).

Interesting....I guess I figured it wasn't him due to the time issue you mentioned, but maybe it really was.

DH - so you're thinking about doing the NDF Plus too? My doctor recommended it, and it does sound good. I prefer natural treatments whenever possible (although I am for whatever works best at this point, and am not opposed to trying the Cutler protocol), but I almost feel like since it is new, there are more unknowns with it. In particular, I am worried about using cilantro, which crosses the blood brain barrier, at the beginning of my chelation. Isn't it usually recommended to do that later in treatment? Still, it sounds promising.

I'm a little unclear. Andy protocol doesn't use cilantro. It's not a new protocol either. His book was written in 1999. Of course, we each have to choose which path we feel is safest when choosing a chelation method.

Just a thought on what some have perceived as rudeness on his part. I agree with Bex, he has limited time and is helping people daily with their detox. Alot of the time they are asking for free help. He may cut to the chase, but I can't blame him. You have only so many hours in a day. He visits more than one forum to offer help and has helped many. This is not a new protocol.

I have only thanks for someone who has helped me get back a quality of life I never imagined I could have at my age. I feel better than I did 15 years ago and still have a long way to go. I have more energy, feel more calm, have stopped losing my hair that was falling out, have no cravings for wheat, no brain fog, clear thoughts, and don't feel chilled to the bone anymore. Don't mean to go on, but I feel very grateful for the help that this man has given mercury poisoned men and women.

Anonymous...I am pleased for you that he his protocols have helped for you, if that is the case. I can only give my personal experience, and that is that i was responded to in a rude, arrogant and misinformed manner. If other people have experiened the same type of thing, then i know it's not an isolated case. I have spoken to some leading experts in this field, and the one thing that they all seem to say is "isn't it amazing that someone who has never been in clinic has managed to convince people to do his protocol, and ends up getting them to use a product which contains mercury". That is the general consensus. So don't shoot the messenger here. I'm only a sufferer, a severe one at that, not a doctor. So i'm only interested in the truth, and i can tell you that in a lot of prominent camps that DMSA is yesterdays news. I also found it interesting that if he visits so many forums as you say, then why was he not here blasting El-Essawys comments.

Tia...yes i will be using one of the NDF's at some point soon i hope. I'm addressing other things first like getting my bowels, liver and kidneys to function better. Ramp up the dose slowly, but i guess your doctor will tell you that anyway if he is aware of the protocols. Chlorella, just like DMSA, has the ability to contain heavy metals, but NDF DOES NOT.

Dental Holocaust... It is the case that I was helped so much by his protocol. And many others have been helped, including children. I understand that you had a bad experience and I am sincerely sorry that this has happened to you.

I am one who doesn't believe that DMSA contains mercury. I don't believe that it would have helped myself and others as extensively as it has if it contained mercury. Having said that, it is not for everyone. Some who use his protocol cannot tolerate it.

As for the remarks that you have made "if that is the case"..."if he visits so many forums as you say"...I feel saddened. I'm not a liar. It takes too much energy. I didn't state that he frequents all mercury forums. He doesn't have to. I'm not even sure he would have blasted El-Elswys comments even if he had seen them. That's not what this forum is supposed to be about.

If you look at this thread it was started in September of 1905. Someone was simply saying that it's worked for them. Isn't that was this is supposed to be about? I never doubted her that it worked. I'm happy for her. And again, I am sincerely sorry that you had such a bad experience in your attempts to get rid of this awful poison that we have all on this forum been hurt by. We're all on the same side here.

Hi,

Like i said, i'm pleased that it worked so well for you. I wasn't doubting that it was the truth. It would be outrageous for anyone to say that his protocols haven't worked for people. I'm completely aware that they have. But it doesn't give him the right to slag off other very successful treatments and doctors for a totally unjust reason. That's what i don't like. And people whose brains are toxic (and minds) don't need someone in his position to jump all over them when they raise an issue. He was quick to blast someone on this thread, so i'm just surprised he didn't do the same when Dr El-Essawy so eloquently stated his position. Yes we are all on the same side here, i agree.....

Maybe we have to agree to disagree here as we are on the same page in that we only want to get well. I disagree that Dr. El-Essawy was eloquent in everything that he said. You feel as though Andy Cutler cuts to the chase. Can we just leave it at that? Please.

Having said that, if Dr. El-Essawy has helped even one person (and I am positive that he has helped many) to overcome their mercury poisoning then I am grateful for that. If you have chosen to go with this doctor and are happy with the results then I am genuinely happy for you. For myself, it really is only about getting this poison out of us.

Some have opted for a more natural approach and it has worked. I don't think that any one doctor or any one protocol is the only way to go. We are all very different.

Just one more note...If we had this conversation a year ago when I was extremely toxic from mercury, I couldn't have handled it. Thank goodness for the clear mind that mercury detoxification gives us.

Wishing you the very best in your recovery from mercury toxicity.

It's basically down to personal experiences. You got great results with his methods. Fantastic.
I had a very rude and inaccurate response (it's the opinion of others i showed it to as well who aren't mercury toxic).
So let's leave it like that. It sounds like i am in the position you were in 12 months ago, so i think we've all more to worry about. Cheers.

Sandra... if you still frequent this forum can you please update your progress. There are some who would like to hear these kinds of stories. I remember when I first got my amalgams out, I felt frustrated because I didn't hear a lot about people's progress and how they had improved. I desperately needed to hear someone say, 'I have tried this or that and it has worked great.' And when I did come across a story about a person's success, I was elated.

Good for you!!! Thanks for sharing what worked for you. It helps.

Vast amounts of people have recovered or are recovering. It's just most people on here are not part of either of those groups just yet. But mercury detox is a complex issue. It's a marathon, not a sprint. It can take a month or it can take years. Some are lucky, others are unlucky. So many variables. The bottom line is that once these poisons are OUT, the body will self-heal.
Have you got a success story for us Anon?

I'm vouching for Andy's protocol or not, since I haven't used any protocols really yet. However, where are people getting the idea that DMSA contains mercury?? Can someone actually point to real information that says this is so? If not, I think its just FUD by the people who are hawking other products that may or may not work...

Well i'm not going to try and sway you. Certainly, the people who have said that it contains mercury, are people whose products DO work. I know that for a fact. But i'm not here to steer people away from using it. It's not me who says it contains mercury, i just listen to what some of the mercury hotshots say. My only interest is in finding the truth, and finding an answer for myself.

In regards to the question before the last post. From what I can see in researching this myself, there is no hard evidence that it contains mercury. I was afraid to try it as I had heard negative about it. If you do some searching of the archives on this forum you will find that there are people on both sides of this issue.

I believe that on another forum there was a test done on it and there was no mercury found in it. That's just what I personally read from someone who seemed in the know and would have had no motive in testing it other than to put the issue to rest. Not meaning to spark any debates on the subject.

For myself, I stayed away from it for 3 months. When I finally tried DMSA, I made leaps and bounds. Went from practically being a hermit to being active, from being an introvert (because of the mercury only) to being an extrovert. I feel like I did 10 or 15 years ago and seeing as how I had lost so many years to mercury poisoning it was worth it for myself.

Again, I'm not trying to step on any toes or to get into a word war here. I am just answering a question that was asked and that I myself wondered about for some time.

I agree with you that it may be someone just pushing another product.

Yeah I guess I'm not trying to say NDF or whatever doesn't work. Used properly it probably works fine. But with DMSA this isn't really an opinion issue... its a synthetic chemical compound of which the forumla is known. There aren't any mercury molecules in the formula. So I don't see how there is any argument.

Whether it works for you or not, and whether another product does, is a different story...

"Yeah I guess I'm not trying to say NDF or whatever doesn't work. Used properly it probably works fine. But with DMSA this isn't really an opinion issue... its a synthetic chemical compound of which the forumla is known. There aren't any mercury molecules in the formula. So I don't see how there is any argument."

Thank you, this is something that makes sense. I've thought long and hard as to how we could tactfully put both sides to this issue out there. It's not that one or the other doesn't work. However, one is more affordable than the other and has helped many. There are many ND's and clinics out there that use DMSA. They do not stand to gain anything financially by giving their patients this product. More importantly, it has helped many people. One on this forum remarked that it helped her when she had been reexposed to mercury. And there are those who's mercury levels have come down after using DMSA.

It's not that I care if one person or another is right. If one clinic or another is right. This is not some fun "debate" on my part. Frankly, I usually shy away from debates.

It is, though, that when I ask for some sort of proof; some sort of proof be given. Like the above link. Like the individual on another forum that wanted to put the issue to rest and used a test they had at home, at their expense, to test for mercury. (sorry I don't know the test, but if someone is interested I could research it. Please...not someone already convinced the other way, who might just like a good debate). The test showed no mercury in DMSA.

For myself, I honestly don't care what you use. If it's working, keep using it.

NDF has also helped many. Otherwise i'd be planning to use DMSA. NDF is affordable, because taken properly, it requires small doses, so lasts a long time. I've posted my last comments on this thread because i've a lot more to worry about than discuss a product i'm not using.

I took 100 mg of DMSA every third day, and I felt great especially on the days that I took it. I didn't use take any other minerals or B12 on the DMSA days and then on the off days I supplemented my mineral stores. Otherwise the DMSA can deplete all your good mineral stores as well.

Unfortunately the mercury had already destroyed my digestion and my immune system and the cancer already had a foothold. If only I had got this stuff out of me sooner...I might not be doing battle with cancer and chemo.

Andy's protocol is not for everyone, we are all different, but I still propose that slow and steady wins the race. You can't chelate to quickly or you run a great risk of redistribution to the brain and other vital organs.

And as individuals, what works for one, may not work for others.

Sandy...Exactly. I think that this is what many are saying here. We all have a different journey in trying to rid ourselves of mercury poisoning. One may use NDF and it works great, one may use DMPS (something I have chosen not to even try) and it may work for them, some have used natural methods with wonderful success, and some use DMSA which works for them.

As far as Andy's protocol, I couldn't agree more. It is not for everyone. Some admit that getting up at night is too difficult for them. Some have had great success with his protocol and getting up at night is worth the effort.

I felt that Russ's remark on another thread said it all. He chose to use the natural approach but was interested in hearing if others worked as well (not his exact words; can't remember what they were).

Thank you for taking the time to post here even when you are undergoing Chemo. Your unselfishness touches our hearts.

Im a bit confused here, in an above post it says NDF does not contain metals where as chlorella does, i thought NDF was a mixture of chlorella and cilantro.
Also about the price, from what i have been reading, NDF is much more expensive than DMSA.
I have tried sun chlorella with disastrous results and cilantro even worse, DMSA is the only thing that makes me feel good, although in low doses.
We are all different.
PS Andy Cutler was very abrupt and a bit rude in an email to me, so i think thats just the way he is, i wouldnt take it personally, hes probably quite busy.

I didn't write the post you are refering to, but I think it meant that chlorella has the possibility to contain mercury, not that it definitely does. For example, if it is not grown organically and has metal-containing pesticides dumped on it, or if it's grown in a contaminated part of the ocean. So it's possible for it to.

You are right that NDF contains both chlorella and cilantro. I think the author was trying to say that NDF is known NOT to contain mercury, even though some forms of chlorella can. I think they have done testing to ensure it is metal-free, so the chlorella and cilantro that they use are uncontaminated.

A bottle of NDF is expensive, but since you use such small amounts, it is supposed to last a long time, and therefore, it's not expensive after all. This is a different form of chlorella than you will find in most other chlorella brands, so it is supposed to work differently. I've read (on Mercola's website) that 30% of the population cannot tolerate chlorella - it tends to make them nauseous, etc. So while you might have a different reaction to NDF than with SunChlorella due to the different form used, there is a possibility that you would not react well to any chlorella at all.

I'm still interested in doing DMSA, especially after hearing all this good feedback on it. But I won't be ready for chelation for a couple more months, so it gives me time to figure out what to try. We'll see what my doctor has to say, because I know he tends to use DMSA, but is starting to use NDF as well.

I could not wake myself up after 4 hours, I have enough trouble getting enough sleep as it is...and good sleep is so important for our healing, I cannot say enough about that. After a good night's sleep, I feel like a hundred percent, but after less than a good 8 hours, my body feels like a train wreck.

but whatever works for you, that is just my 2 cents. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Sandi...Your two cents is worth a million. Lack of sleep affects me also. Especially as the menopause was creating havoc with my recovery up until recently. And if I weren't getting back 200 percent after my chelation rounds, I would be the first to stop it. Believe me.

For myself, low dose chelation has given me my life back. My family are in disbelief. I literally went on one round from being so light sensitive that I perferred the lights off in the house...to opening all the windows in the house. On another round, from being a clutterbug to being organized. From losing handfuls of hair to only losing a few; being chilled to the bone to having a more normal metabolism. These are just the symptoms that I have improved in during the last two months.

For myself, I can only take two nights on round. However, it gives me 5 days and nights to enjoy things that I used to enjoy. Just the same, as you say, it is not for everyone. I don't believe that any product will work for everyone.

I value what you have to say. You are a true jewel. Thanks for your imput.

I get confused about the whole thing as Im sure a lot of us do. But I have to go with Dental Haulocaust at the moment cos of one thing. DMSA to my knowledge chelates the body organs and then you have to chelate the brain with ALA. This is my understanding. I hope Chris wont mind me saying but both he and I have quite sever brain and nervous system problems. He can correct me if Im wrong, but I think is doctor is pretty well informed and Im pretty sure mine was. As I believe both NCD and Zeolite, which Im going to be using, chelate body and brain. I actually questioned my doctor about this and if its been used alone in children with autism I assume this must be true. Its certainly nothing to do with money but if it does both jobs, Im up for it . Maybe Chris can back me up on this Tracy

Yeah you're right that it's nothing to do with money. It's rather an insult to my intelligence that all these nameless anonymous posters are suggesting that i'm seeing therapists who are only interested in selling a product. I may have brain and cognitive problems, but i'm not clinically stupid. Let me get this into the open here, one of the core reasons why so many LEADING PROMINENT clinics in the US and Europe have stopped using DMSA is because they found that it carried more mercury into the central nervous system. That is the primary reason why they are now using more safer and effective treatments, and have state of the art diagnostic techniques to monitor what is going on with their patients. I have no success story to bring to this forum, yet, but i sure as hell will try and make sure i'm getting the maximum treatment available to make sure it happens. Nuff said.

When i first got ill, i tried sun chlorella and cilantro because i wanted to go the natural route, but it made me 10x,s worse, i couldnt function at all, so it put me off and i was in limbo for quite a few months not knowing what to do and getting worse.
I ordered DMSA and i had it in my cupboard for weeks before i dared to use it, but one day i was so bad i just started it on the 4 hourly thing for 3 days. its quite powerful stuff, but now i can take it and feel great on the days im chelating and i really believe in it.
I realise that at 12mg every 4 hrs isnt much but im willing to go slow as i have 2 children to look after.
It all comes down to the individual, we are different.
Good luck to everyone which ever chelator you use.

Before i started any chelation i visited the frequent dose chelation website Andy Cutlers way and found loads of people getting better by it, you can tell by looking at archive, the names disappear, which means they are well. This gave me inspiration.

Thats a big difference than the compound actually containing mercury. Even Andy says in his book, no chelator is going to take 100% of the mercury it mobilizes with it. You only got to hope it takes more than it leaves.

I recently had DMSA tested using a mercury vapour meter and it did not find any mercury present in the substance

I tried 100 mg. DMSA every other day and my symptoms kept getting worse. Then I found Andy's protocol and followed it. Using 50 mg DMSA every four hours around the clock for 3 days and 2 nights, I've had no negative side effects and I'm no longer chemically sensitive or tired all the time! It seems the constant low dose of DMSA in the bloodstream is what makes the difference. Deduction: Andy's protocol does work!!!

P.S. I also tried chlorella and it made me very sick.

How long did you chelate before your chemical sensitivities subsided? This is very encouraging as I am using his protocol myself and have seen many positive results, but am still anxious to get relief from the chemical sensitivites. Of course, I am just at the 25 mg. with DMSA dose along with ALA.
