Every now and then when I post I have to type in a bunch of hard to read letters before it will let me post. It is annoying in that the letters are hard to read and it often takes 4 or 5 attempts before I get it right.
Isn't there a way that after a person is a member for a while that it can be shut off? I promise I won't spam. LOL

My spelling is crap, ditto my grammar. Every post I post is written in a word doc and copy and pasted over.

Me too, and spelling used to be my strong point. I used to do data entry for a living, in a fast paced environment. That was on of the first clues to me that something was seriously wrong, I started transposing all of my letters that I type. I still do, and have to go back and correct things, because I have no control over them.
I think James was referring to the captcha, where you have to type in those letters in the box, before you post everyday, to make sure it's not a computer or a bot spamming the board. Yes! they get very annoying, and most of the time I have a hard time reading them, too, or I can't type the same thing that I see.

Good thing for wood processors and grammar checkers, sunshine. Your posts always appear to be written by an English professor.

Thanks for all the input.
We implemented a customized captcha system in response to all the spam we were receiving...
Some people would manually sign up for the forum and then configure programs (bots) to post incessant advertisements to the forum. To stop this, we added the captcha system.
I will see if we can find a solution to this. It may take a little while though so please be patient.
If anyone has suggestions, I'll be happy to consider them.
Thanks!

Is there any way to fine tune the capcha? Many other sites have a similar antispam routine, however on the other sites I usually get it right the first time. With this site it sometimes takes me 3 or more tries before I get it right.

It would be nice if it could be turned off for established members.

Yes, both are good suggestions.
We will be looking into the possibility of shutting off captcha automatically once you've made a certain number of posts. This would make it really easy for members who have proven to be real people to make posts without having to put up with captcha anymore.
We will be working on it next week.
Let me know if you have any more ideas.
Thanks again.
