Hi
I have been using Adrenal Extra from Nutri, but have been concerned at the deepening depression I have suffered this last week even to the extent of thinking of suicide. Andrew Cutler says that choline can make depression worse and there is choline in this product, and also adrenaline, I have just heard, as it is not just the cortex which does not contain extra hormones. Now I want to go on the extract alone. Are those here on ACE on this type of adrenal support? What about you Linda? Have you heard about this?

This is news to me, but personally I haven't had any problems with the Nutri ACE tablets.
You body may well have different deficiencies and requirements from mine. Presumably you are using the ACE to treat adrenal exhaustion? Are you on Armour? Do you take any other supplements? What is your diet like?

Hi Linda
I have looked at their website and cannot find Adrenal Cortex Extract, just the concentrate. If it does not say cortex then it is not.
I also have Hashimotos'd thyroiditis which complicates matters probably and severe MCS. No I am not on Armour and yes the concentrate is to build up the adrenals. I have just been reading that some folk cannot take thyroid hormones and I bet that I am going to be one of them <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />
My diet is good, anti-candida and supps are Q10 magnesium calcium B5 molybdenum VitC
I think the adrenalin in the concentrate is no good for me. I react to it in anaesthetics nor the choline. Sent Dr P an e-mail but have not heard back yet. I also have bad reaction to steroids and have just found out that the concentrates contain them also. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

I think this is the one you are talking about…? http://www.yournutritionshop.co.uk/shopexd.asp?id=657they also do a straight adrenal glandular, each cap has 80mg …. http://www.yournutritionshop.co.uk/shopexd.asp?id=656…………………what do I do? http://www.iherb.com/ProductDetails.aspx?c=1&pid=3415This is the one I take. I take it because it does not have any extra bits included and it’s a nice high dose of 250mg. (although I do split my caps) its cheap from USA too….just need to order early as delivery is 2 weeks. I already supplement any extra bits I want. This is the Adrenal cortex….i.e. the middle bit of the adrenal gland. This is the product recommended by Cutler and it’s what lots of people on Yahoo FDC use. http://www.iherb.com/ProductDetails.aspx?c=1&pid=3412I think is made from the whole gland. I asked dr peatfield and he didn’t know the difference…or……he didn’t think it made a difference (can’t remember which.) I choose the 250mg cap for the reasons stated. If you search on Yahoo FDC there are plenty of references about which is best….you will have to dig about a bit, but the answers are all there

Thanks a lot sunshine. A great help.<img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" /> I am a little concerned that Dr P does not know the difference. I think I will go for the one you take, it seems ok though I am a little worried about taking steroids as I had a bad reaction to them once, but I don't have much choice.

Does adrenal cortex extract contain a steroid?
I take the Nutri one. I came across the same other brand that Sunshine linked to here; but like him, I already supplement many of those things separately. I was just after pure adrenal cortex.
While I'm at home on holiday I can practically eat them like Smarties LOL.

A pleasure to help. I am a little concerned that Dr P does not know the difference I can’t remember if it even makes a difference, although I think Cutler said the cortex was best. If you are concerned…search on Yahoo FDC…the answer is in there somewhere from Cutler. I’m up to 450mg adrenal cortex each morning. Building up my dose is a slow process. I can only increase my dose by 50mg every 7-10 days otherwise I get a load of trouble and strife. I started at 25mg. Target dose was 200mg’s, then 500mg…but will try to get it up to 900-1000mg if I can manage it. I assume I have had adrenal fatigue my whole life. I know I quote Cutler a lot but he never says anything without knowing for sure about something. Every word is carefully considered. His words have never let me down and everything he has said would happen…has happened as he said it would happen. His books perfectly describe my life/health/world. Everything we read needs to be taken with a pinch of salt, I have found Cutler words still need to be taken with some salt, just slightly less than others.

Thanks sunshine. Yes it does make a diifference if you are sensitive to adrenaline and a lot of people are. Those with Hashimotos for example. I am feeling a little disappointed that Dr P did not know this though I don't expect him to know everything - no one does - even Andrew Cutler <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
Yes you have to do you own learning especially when it comes to the endocrine system. I am feeling a bit dizzy with all the research on this.. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dead.gif" alt="" />

You're right Mati, I seem to have been mistaken. I'm taking the concentrate that you linked to.
So is it the cortex extract which Dr. Peatfield recommends instead?
I got through to his secretary and I won't even be able to talk to him until a week from Wednesday. I'm fed up to be honest. These doctors aren't the ones sitting at home feeling like utter pants. It took 6 weeks to see him, another month to get my test results, 2 weeks to talk to him on the phone, and then more time for me to order whatever supplements I need. Screw it, I've got some Cortef on order from America and I'm going to ask my GP this Friday if he will prescribe it, though I'm not holding out hope.
I've ordered some more adrenal concentrate, but I'll get the cortex instead if people here say it's better.

sunshine says that Dr P does not know the difference. I sent him an e-mail today and he has not replied, and it was quite urgent as I told him how depressed I have been over the weekend and even had suicidal thoughts and that I would swap to another concentrate if i did not hear from him. I guess he has not opened his e-mail.
If yoi go to stop the thyroid madness and real thyroid help, you will get more advice.
