Hi SoSick,

Not a misquote since someone else spoke it but... generally a quote is suppose to direct you to look it up and finish reading more of the same...can't expect to know all about everything from a quote or two.. but anyway it just reiterates the point he is making about materialism.

I would like to believe that readers would research into quotes more fully, but I doubt that is often the case. This quote was cut in such a way that it did not include the contrasting side.

It's not 'in favor of' or 'against' statement, he is speaking about two different disciplines/schools of thought which contrast each other. Materialism is capable of including anything beyond matter is all he's saying. Which. if you had read the thread above and elswhere here, is what we have been discussing.

I agree, but that quote was cut in such a way that it did not represent materialism at all. I have been following the thread, it's a topic which interests me.

There is no room for miracles in materialsim. But that does not mean miracles do not happen and neither of the above mentioned claim that.

You never know. Materialism is that which can be empirically tested. There was a lot that seemed miraculous, or supernatural in this world such as earthquakes, lightning and thunder, etc; and via our senses, advancing technology and collaboration of knowledge, these things were explained. The subject becomes material once it becomes testable.
