Any Cutler fan will tell you that the best way to determine mercury toxicity is to do a DDI hair analysis. Although your hair mercury levels may be low, levels of your other minerals will show up a mercury problem - ie the pattern of calcium / magnesium / sodium /potassium and others - lithium, manganese, iodine. If this pattern of minerals is 'deranged' then the likelihood is that you have a mercury problem. Cutler explains all this in his Hair Mineral Analysis book (sold on this website) and you can get hair test interpretations and advice over on frequent dose chelation. Challenge tests and blood tests are basically useless, and could be dangerous.

If you had your amalgams out four years ago, then body mercury is unlikely to still be a problem. Unless you have chelated with ALA though, brain mercury is likely to be causing you problems (see Bex's post a few days ago about body and brain mercury).
