Yeah, the problem with me is, I didn't have a hair test at the time of amalgams, or the time right afterwards, so only a very small level showed up. Whether or not that level was accurate, didn't matter. I was poisoned either way. Poisoned by small levels is possible for some people. Depends what you're tolerance level is. That too can depend on immune status and other issues. E.g. my virus, made me poisoned to the remaining mercury!
E.g. another guy I know, got poisoned by his amalgams only after an accident to his gut! Suddenly he's got amalgam toxicity. Before that? No symptoms were noticeable. Didn't mean he wasn't being poisoned before (gradually), but it probably meant his system had more strength against it. The accident was the straw that broke the camel's back so to speak. This is why sometimes even healthy people may do well to remove amlagams to avoid something like that happening. The body can handle quite a bit, but it cannot juggle too much at onetime. Something usually gives way.
Yeah, I do need chelation Sunshine. No doubt about it. The iodine has moved the mercury around and I feel it strongly. Perhaps the DMSA will be more effective now that the mercury seems a bit more mobilised. If I was to do it, I'd do DMSA again by itself for a few days and check reactions. If nothing, I'd probably take it with ALA. However, I'd have to take the DMSA non stop for about 4 days because it can take sometime before symptoms OR improvements are noted. I'm just not poisoned ENOUGH in those areas to where reactions occur rapidly, it takes time before anything is noticeable. It used to happen pretty quick, after a day. But I also got well quicker with DMSA when the mercury was more accessible.
Yes, I hope to avoid dental office visits if I can for years to come (hoping). I do what I can (as you do) in taking care of my teeth. I now brush with colgate total plus toothpaste, because it seems to work better than anything else I've used (including natural stuff that really didn't seem to do much). I floss at night. Plus once a week I use sea salt and baking soda, as dry as I can to do a scrub of my teeth to help get rid of any stains/build up. Only when I need to though. Usually the toothpaste keeps most of it at bay. It's not ideal obviously, but neither is getting repoisoned and trying to recover for many months afterwards. I cannot live my life like this. Check up at dental office, months of being chronically ill, only to find I need to go again for the next check up. Or spend a lot of money to try and chelate permanently. And that's exactly how I'd be living my life.
TK on the frequent dose group has the same problem I do. He had made such good progress with chelation and one check up at the dental office, threw him back again and he had to drop the ALA and start with DMSA again until he built back up to tolerance.
I cannot understand why biologic dentists do not address this issue if they are so apparently aware of the toxicity of mercury. I am sure there is much more they could do for those of us who become poisoned by walking into any dental office, including theirs (even with the most sophisticated of extraction systems). It's far from enough. Mercury vapor wins out everytime! I should be able to get a check up and clean, without being poisoned by other people's mercury vapor!!! So should everybody else.
Anyway sorry for the lengthy post. I'm just angry over this whole thing.
Your low dose chelating is wise sunshine, you're chelating at the dose and days your body can "just" handle without forcing a backfire on yourself in the hopes that speeding it up will get you there faster. When so often it causes one to get worse and then wait till they recover before they can even chelate again.
