hey ppl. i was wondering if any of you had any suggestions on how to make my life easier with cooking. i've posted before about how first of all my mind doesnt work well enough to organize and my body is so exhausted it doesnt have the energy to get up to cook. also, i dont even really get hungry like i used to so that makes it even worse. it just sucks the whole diet thing. but i gotta do it. i gotta start tryin to at least get used to it and do the best i can with the diet.
my grandma mentioned a steamer that could do rice and veggies at the same time. that sounded pretty good to me. i figure i could make brown rice cuz its ok on the diet i think and veggies and just load them up with butter and stuff.
also, i wanted to get this little lemon squeezer thing to put fresh lemons in water. water gets pretty boring after a while.
does anyone have any suggestions on what they use to make are illness treatments easier? essentially food is our treatment and supps but eating the right food is extremely tough for me personally. i could prolly buy it online if i thought i would like it so if anyone bought one online lemme know please.
also, what about proteins and meats. is there anything i could get to make cooking those less stressful and easier?

Hi Shawn. Do you have a cook book? That’s always helpful when learning to cook. May I suggest “Nourishing Traditions” by Sallon Fallon. May as was well start with the best book. Tells you how and why the food should be prepared like it does. If you haven’t got a cook book, you need one, and that book is the biz! http://www.amazon.com/Nourishing-Tr...ks&qid=1206303187&sr=8-1$13.99 If you get this book, you prolly will not need another cook book for a long time.

Shawn, I bought a Black & Decker steamer for $30 at Bed, Bath & Beyond that I really like. It steams vegetables very well and I also cook rice, chicken and turkey in it. You can cook just about anything in it that you would normally cook in pan. You just load everything up, let it work and come back 20-45 (depending on what you are cooking) minutes later and everything is done. Very easy to clean and wash too.
What is also very good is that you aren't using any metal when cooking with this steamer. Metals like nickel, copper, etc. that are in stainless steel and other metal cookware can be very harmful as you have probably read from other sources on this forum.

Hi Shawn,
I've got the cookbook that Sunshine mentioned. It's a wonderful education in healthy eating.
Steaming veg is a quick and easy way to cook them. I also eat them raw a couple of times a day, usually cucumber and celery.
I cook a big batch of turkey or chicken and keep it in the fridge; now and then when I want some it's there to grab. My favourite breakfast is a little chicken heated with some butter and tamari, with a few walnuts thrown in. And some raw veg on the side. This is probably the only place where I could write that and not be told I'm weird LOL.
Nuts are great for snacking on.
If you can find a few favourite foods which are easy to prepare, you're well on your way. You can also make batches of soup or stew and freeze individual portions, if you are a soup person.

I've ordered several times from their online store, they do a good job. This is the direct link to the Black & Decker steamer: http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?order_num=-1&SKU=10388449Also, if you would like to remove chlorine from your showers this is a very good, inexpensive shower filter that works well: ($24.99) http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?order_num=-1&SKU=13724199Yes shawn, you can steam rice and vegetables at the same. Takes longer for rice, of course so you load that in first then the veggies. This unit is very easy to use and to clean, you will be happy.

I love my slow cooker (crockpot)
I just throw enough meat and veg in for 2 or 3 meals and leave it 4 hours, then I lightly boil/steam a few veg. Belly pork is my favourite then chicken. You can do roats as well as casseroles. I just could not do without it, it makes life so much easier for me. The pot is not metal either just some sort of ceramic. Yum!
