After suffering horrible symptoms for the last nine months, I am having my one amalgam filling removed this Tuesday. I have been taking several supplements/vitamins leading up to this, but is there anything special I should do on the day of the removal? I have read about charcoal, but how much of that do I take, and when? I already know that I have to stop my vitamin C intake in advance.
Also, for those who have gone through it, does it feel bad immediately afterwards? Thanks . . . I am quite nervous.

Hi Will Welcome and good good luck on Tuesday. Have a read of this…… http://www.livingnetwork.co.za/healingnetwork/mercury_amalgam_removal.htmlIt’s a good protocol for removal and also includes some top tips for the big day too. The biggest top tip you need to have safe removal with rubber dam and oxygen. The link lists every possible precaution you should ideally take. Take “Activated Charcoal” 15 mins before the dental appointment and immediately afterwards too. This soaks up everything in your stomach including any stray mercury that got in there. (fyg your BM will go black the next day.) Do not take any Vit C on the day of removal until after the appointment. Don’t forget the charcoal will soak up any supplements you take…..so maybe leave a bit of time inbetween. How much vit c? Lots! Do you know your bowel tolerance of Vit c? my bowel tolerance to vit c is 14 or 15 grams per day, which I take when the $hit hits the fan. Should be in divided doses thoughtout the day, not all at the same time. Does it hurt? Some people get better immediately…..happy days! Some don’t though, and some get a bit sick. You will not know until it happens. Remember however safe the removal is, there will usually be some mercury contamination during the process…..amalgam removal is very much a necessary evil. Don't be nervous, be happy you are taking control of your life and getting that toxic slag out!

Hello.
Some tips I would take:
if your doctor don't cover your face, your hair and your clothes, clean them all after the removal with charcoal and soap, and change your clothes Take a charcoal capsule (or two) open it put it in your mouth and wash your mouth with it, wash tongue, teeth, gums and chicks then spit it ,and wash your mouth with water (and your non-fluoride dental paste if you want). you want your dentist to put temporal fillings (zink oxide) to allow your teeth to relieve from the stress that the amalgams put on them.
You can take vit c and others suplemments until two hour before you take the charcoal. You can take vit c two hours after the charcoal.
One thing I'm not sure about is this: What about C vitamin iv before of after the removal? I've read it elsewhere that it is good, what do you think.

Vit C IV is done during the dentist appointment I believe. It is supposed to be very good and highly recommended if your dentist does it.

Hi
I was wrong in my previous post, you can't take oral vit c before the removal, it seems that it interfere with the anesthesics.

Sunshine, Is there actually a way to know "your bowel tolerance of Vitamin C"? Or is it just what you find from trial and error? How much Vitamin C is TOO much? Does anyone know? I would like to take the max that is safe for me, after I start getting amalgams removed (which is going to be May 2). Thank you!

hi mommy24: in the book adrenal fatigue the 21 century stress syndrome, they mention the way to find out your bodies tolerence you start out in the morning take 500 mg vit c every hour untill your bowel movement becomes runny ( sorry this is what the book says to do) once this happens note the total mg to that point, that is your bodies tolerence level per day of vitamin c

Hi Mom, yes, .....its trial and error. Just keep taking Vit c until BM’s get loose. I usually take mine with food, as I think supplements should always be taken with food, full stop, but whatever way you do it…I’m sure will be fine. It is not an explosive reaction…..just a softening/loosening kinda thing. I got a cold at the moment and I’m on 10 grams a day in divided doses, breakfast, lunch, diner and bedtime. My usually intake when I’m feeling fine is 5 grams.
It is not a problem to take too much vit c because your body will just remove the excess in the BM.
So take more and more vit c until you get to bowel tolerance then reduce the dose a bit……that will then be your max daily intake.

How about this one from http://www.beatcfsandfms.org/During eventual amalgam removal, the dentist could, hopefully, substantially reduce your exposure to / absorption of mercury further, compared to standard procedure (water-cooling and high volume suction), by;
* Putting a rather big transparent plastic bag over your head / shoulders with overpressured fresh air blown into it. In front of the mouth the plastic bag should be reinforced with cofferdam and pressed into the mouth. This way the only thing exposed to the amalgam powder / mercury vapour is the tooth the dentist is working on.
