Yea, the idea of metal scares me. My husband has had problem teeth all his life. He wants to finish getting them all pulled, and get dentures. The dentist he saw, recommended getting the implants, which are titanium. I told him I don't want him to go that route, because I don't think it would be good for him, and I sure as hell don't want any titanium in my mouth.
When I got the consult from the biological dentist last year, they were trying to figure out a "cost-effective" was for me to do all of this. They told me that they could pull my back molars on both sides, because they are nearly all metal. One will probably have to be pulled and soon, because I think it's severely leaking, and they said there was not much sense in repairing it, because I didn't have a tooth above it (unfortunately I lost a good tooth with no fillings, because it was FUSED to my wisdom tooth, and when it got pulled, so came the back tooth <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> ). On the other side, they said they could pull that back one, but the one next to it is the one that was drilled straight through a huge filling, to do a root canal. It is the one that I have mercury down in my jawbone, and the slivers of metal show up on my x-ray. He said the mercury is right in my blood stream, and that's why I am so sick. They said if that one is unable to be repaired, without the back tooth, they would have nothing to bridge it to. They said I would lose most of my chewing surface, if I lost all of those teeth. I will have to see what the new dentist says about it. It is all so scary!!!!
