I read this site regularly for the latest news in astronomy. I love reading about new discoveries and speculations about things like the structure of the universe and quantum physics. However I was utterly horrified to read this article. Liquid mirrors made of mercury already exist and they want to build more. Obviously no one has thought about the people who would have to work near them, or the potential hazard to the environment.
