Hi Everyone,
I am new here and just made the connection (thanks to a well informed nutripath) that my mystery illness is connected to the mercury in my mouth. To make a long story short, I am having my amalgam/mercury fillings replaced and I am wondering what is generally the safest filling material to use as a replacement. I heard of Diamond Crown, but I also heard that it can make the teeth more sensitive. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. I also heard about biocompatible testing, but that is not in the budget right now. Oh, and also the safest material for a tooth that needs a crown. Thanks!

HI there. A pretty good stable biocompatible material is apparently Cerec porcleain. But if you cannot get that? Then I'd probably opt for a material that has been found to be safe for the majority of people. Cerec seems to be one of those, but it is very expensive. However, it also lasts most of your life, or a lifetime. It is as good as gold (literally) I hear. I would recommend you read this link through: http://www.drheise.com/dental.htmAnd scroll down to where it says Dental Materials: The Best Choices Recommended Biocompatible Dental Materials This should give you a good idea of what materials have been found to be the best. Though I would not entirely agree with it in regards to composites, as these stand up pretty darned well in many people, though some may have issues. There will be people sensitive to almost any material too, so it is not an easy decision to make. Whatever material you decide to go with, if you do go for cerec, you need to go to a cerec dentist who is experienced in replacing it! Because it takes skill and experience.

I had Cerec and Voco Grandio.
I was “muscle tested” for bio-compatibility on over 50 different dental products. Officially its called “Applied Kinesiology” ask your dentist if they use people like that for compatibility testing. Mine cost £50 ($100) and I got a second opinion at the same price…..it cheap, it works, and even if you don’t understand it, its better than guessing/hoping a product might be ok.
If you are in UK, I can recommend a couple.
