Has anyone had a decrease in OCD symptoms following the Andy Cutler protocol? Although I have many symptoms, the OCD is by far the most debilitating.

Thanks in advance, bfree

Hello
I have not started on Cutler protocol yet. Just been doing some detoxing to get the pathways moving. Since doing all of this my ocd has gotten better. I still have my days but I try not to let it over take me. I know what is causing it. Memory is better too and my eyesight is real clear as well.

I'm not doing any chelating at present, but since becoming ill, I have terrible OCD problems which I've never had before. Dear James OCD is when you have certain rituals, which you can't stop yourself from doing, like straightening things, counting words. I find the worst thing for me is I have the same line of a song going over and over in my head. It drives me mad.

Thanks for the explanation, Tracy. I get that when I eat a lot of sugar and yeast, appears to be a byproduct of candida. When I get that food out it goes away.

I must admit James that makes me wonder because I had the same symptoms, as now, twenty years ago, but not so severe. I had no idea what the cause was then, but suffered for about 6 years, I decided to go on a diet to lose some weight, this meant I cut out wheat, sugar ect and I got better. I sometimes wonder if my main problem is actually Candida. Got to be worth a really good try. All the best Tracy x <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/coolthumbsup.gif" alt="" />

Hi. I haven't followed the Cutler program, but have had improvement from severe OCD over the years. I first had an amalgam filling at about 10 years of age and by 12 I had acute OCD. It was absolute hell. I had so many rituals and anxieties that my life was awful. When I stopped having amalgams at about 15 years of age and my braces came out, my symptoms started to subside. I still have many phobias and anxieties but the OCD has virtually gone, something I never thought would happen. I no longer have to do any rituals where as once I had to do them all day. I am convinced mercury was the cause, aggravated by braces and eating fish. I became a vegetarian at 16 so while the lack of protein from not following a good diet may have affected my health - I have PCOS and other health problems - I think cutting out tuna must have helped the OCD. I still get compulsion to blink and like "tics" but they have got better since getting some of my amalgams removed. I notice they get worse after meals or certain foods.

OCD is definitely a debiliating and cruel illness and it makes me so profoundly sad to think of the terrible suffering it brings being caused by those we trust to care for our health.

I have heard of people recovering from OCD after safe amalgam removal. My anxieties and phobias cause me and my family a lot of stress, but I remain hopeful that my anxiety levels will decrease once I am completely amalgam free. As the years have gone by I've learnt how to manage my phobias, but the panic attacks can strain relationships and friendships and I am doubtful of ever having a romantic relationship because most people can't cope with my phobias. I find I cope with life better on my own because then I can do what I like without awkward questions.

But while the phobias are connected to OCD, there is a difference. With the OCD I had to do physical or mental rituals all day, but the phobias affect me differently. If I am not in a situaion that triggers one, I am ok. I've thus learnt to minimise the expose.

I have a phobia of being poisoned now, but am trying to get it under control. I lost a lot of weight by avoiding so many foods, but now I live by the rule of "in moderation" and so have put weight back on - by this I mean mostly soya and non-organic foods.

I have had improvement in health since getting some amalgams out - I'm going slowly with the removal because of how badly I believe I was affected when the amalgams were put in - so I have no doubt that I am mercury poisoned. Most people don't believe me, though, so I don't really talk about it with anyone.

But I do believe improvement is possible from OCD. Whether we will ever be completely anxiety free I don't know - I try to remain realstically hopeful - but ny own experiences and those I've heard of give me great encouragement that OCD is often caused by heavy metal toxicity and thus once the toxicity is reduced the symptoms subside.

Demi I can relate to this. I think I've had a touch of it there, but once braces were put on my teeth at age 14-15, the difference in me was profound.

That's when I remember REALLY going weird and it happened quickly too. Very quick, I can now connect it at the point where the metal studs were stuck onto my teeth, even before the wire had been put in. So I now realise it was toxic metals.

I developed an obsessive fear about daylight and I'd avoid it at all costs. I was so strange, I'd shut all my curtains and almost in every room I was in, which annoyed everybody. My blinds were always shut in my room. I didn't know why, but I had an adversion to light.

Blurred vision, severe depression, extremely pale in the face, strange tics (muscle tics), strange thoughts, very slender, very late puberty/menstruation, hair colour altered and became less strongly coloured, skin became horribly blemished and unable to heal properly (not acne, but just badly blemished). I was even getting signs of premature ageing around my eyes. I was a mess. My skin was so dry in areas that it was permanently taut. I tried skin products but was allergic to just about everything. I had stinging sore and red eyes daily, so used eye drops (which I then reacted to). Skin products caused massive rashes over the face, with non stop itching. I was in a right fix.

I became obsessed about my skin, to where I couldn't leave myself alone. Constant checking and in my mind everything was magnified. I had an obsession about checking my appearance constantly. The whole thing took over my life.

Though things improved a bit once braces were removed, I never really came back to any normality. And really it was just ongoing illness from then on and of course it was all amalgam toxicity then, but I had no idea. Plus candida and things. I walked around with dilated pupils, so big they were that people often asked "what are you on?". I also giggled alot as well, often inappropriately too.

Alot of weird stuff went on that half of it I cannot even explain on here. But I'm sure you guys can relate in your own way. It seems these metals do some funny things to the mind and behaviours.

I had compulsive checking behaviours during all this time and amalgam removal did actually calm some of that down. Though it's always "there" to some degree, it was easier. But then i had to withstand the onslaught of detox that came when the stored mercury began to dump out.

That in itself was a nightmare. So, it is very hard to not only deal with the mercury in the amalgam, but then deal with it as it starts to leak back out.

anyway Demi, I'm glad you are getting this poison slowly out of you. And yes it is very hard to have any relationships with this because of the behaviours. It's hard enough for you to cope with it on your own! I know how that is. It's done damage to me in that area also.

I wish you all the best in a recovery from this poison and its effects.

the rituals were horrible for me too. if my toys got out of place or my shoes weren't perfect like i put them, then i would be a stressed out wreck. i had so many mental rituals too that i don't even wanna think about. also, there comes the obsessiveness that comes when you are in a relationship that basically just sabotages it. so yea, ocd is a blast lol!!!

bex, what happens when you start to dump metals? i've read about this and i know it is encouraged to get to that point. that's actually what you want but i hear it can be brutal. do you mind telling how it affects you?

Hi Shawn,

The dumping of metals is something that apparently happens to many amalgam toxic people following amalgam removal.

It usually occurs after ALL amalgams have been removed. You can experience a kind of exacerbation of symptoms months down the road or even later (or sometimes earlier). It is typical apparently about 6 months later. For me it happened much later. I got hit about a year and a half after amalgam removal.

And when it hits, it is like being repoisoned all over again, but for me it was even worse. You actually feel like you're being filled up with mercury. In a funny way...you are. Because the storage of mercury that has been sitting there for years, for some odd reason, starts to leak out into your blood.

It seems that when the body has amalgams, it goes into a state almost of protection and storage. Trying really hard to eliminate what comes in, but what it can't, it stores away. This eventually builds up to such a point to where symptoms begin to show over time. Accummulative poisoning. This is why it is often missed, because it's insidious.

Once symptoms show, usually the person by this point is very very poisoned. It's taken years to probably develop. Though some get sick very quickly after amalgam replacement, but that is often direct reactions to it as well, plus of course even small amounts of mercury maybe reacted to.

So for me, when I had it all out and experienced the dumping stage (second phase of suffering), I was distressed beyond belief. Nobody told me about this, so I didn't know what the hell was going on. I remember the day it hit too. Very weird, but I was in the car with my Dad. Driving somewhere and I was sitting there as normal and suddenly I felt really bad. I just felt like something was happening inside and i lay down on the seat and curled up.

Then I started weeping and I found I could not STOP. I was crying and drooling. And from that day onwards, it was just a NIGHTMARE. I mean everyday, I was crying and salivating uncontrollably, as my body was now trying to excrete all the years of stored mercury. I would lean over a bowl or the toilet and let it all come out.

This might go on for an hour or more sometimes. Then It would often be followed by a short period of relief, I sense that I had eliminated some more poison and I'd feel better. However, then another wave would come and this repeated itself over and over. I knew when it was coming because I'd get the sense of relief, then that feeling it was building up again would occur. My face would start to pale, look pinched in the cheeks and my mood would become quite bad. I'd feel it descend. So then it would build and build and erupt into crying and salivating again. So I'd rush off for more rounds of bowl or toilet. Fun fun fun.

I had a feeling that it was mercury coming out, but because I didn't know, I panicked and decided that maybe it was the composites that were doing it. I didn't know what exactly was going on. Yet I smelled of metal, tasted metal and sure enough, when I was given anything that detoxed or chelated metals, the symptoms increased even further.

I found detoxing and chelation intolerable, but I did it to speed things up. I wanted that metal out of me at all cost. But eventually I found a better way to get it out and chose Cutler's protocol. And that still wasn't easy, but it was more tolerable and all in all, from the time I started dumping mercury, it took me about 2 years or so to get healthier again.

I felt like a new person at the end of it. wow! All the hell and nightmares were horrible to recall, but the outcome was wonderful. It is very sad that people have to suffer from both amalgam poisoning and then the detox as well.

Just a note though, please realise that I was an extreme case. My symptoms were also very extreme and a doctor here told me that in all his years of treating mercury toxic people, my symptoms were one of the worst he's seen and he said that I had retention toxicity, which is why my body agonised so much as it was coming out. I had many rages through detox that were quite risky to myself and other people.

This doctor put me on selenium and vitamin C powder and it helped, but it also encouraged further detox at that time, so I had to take it easy, plus take breaks from it. Again, Andy Cutler's was the main chelation that I used in the end. All in all, I did get the metals mostly out of me.

Fine post Bex

When the mercury is leaking out of the fillings, because the body cannot excrete it very well and because its SO poisonous, the body stores the mercury away in various parts all over the body.

When the amalgam fillings are removed the body no longer has to cope with the continual leaking and continual addition to the mercury storage. The mercury tap has been turned off.

At some point your body realises that there is no more fresh mercury coming in (the taps have been turned off) and that it can now try and excrete the mercury. The body starts letting go of the mercury. Dumping.

Obviously the body still struggles to excrete the large storage of mercury. The better condition your body is in, the better it can excrete the mercury.

Just one example; If your bowels are clogged up, only 1 BM per day for example, when the excreted mercury is waiting in the colon to come out….if its hanging about in the colon too long…… it gets re-absorbed….
If on the other hand you are have 3-4 BM’s per day…things are moving along quickly….you get quicker excretion and much less re-absorption.

Bex,

Thanks for your post. I have one question, you said that you now feel better after going through Andy Cutler’s protocol, but did the ocd symptoms go away?

Thanks, bfree

Hi Bfree, the OCD symptoms were a combination for me. Amalgam removal and chelation were the keys to lessen the intensity of it. Plus treating candida also. It all helped to lessen it.

However, I think it would have been even better had I treated the possible brain mercury with ALA. I never did, because I was healing as the years were going by more and more and didn't think to bother with it.

However, when I got the virus and infections, that healing came to a standstill, so what I deal with now, is not quite the same. I have a tendency to withdraw (reclusive behaviour). I consider that a sign that I probably still have mercury in the brain or something and am more suspetible to it due to the lowering of my immune system from infection. Or these strange infections have a tendency to do much the same thing.

That's why I'm considering ALA at some point soon, but I have so much else to do, that I'm just a bit overwhelmed now with adding any thing else at the moment.

I cannot tell you if the OCD went away, because healing for me was over a period of time. I know they lessened substantially. The healthier I got, the more normal I became.
