Exactly Linda, where's the music? It's just a front runner for soft porn some of these new artists and their "videos". No creativity, nothing except "image Image Image". Certainly kids don't get much of a chance to grow being inspired by anything except 'sex and image", unless you actually expose them to the stuff we grew up with and give them a chance to see what real music and talent is. That includes movies too.
I think many people are finding this, young, middle aged and old. Hey, if it's "old lady" to feel this way? Heck I'll be an old lady anyday. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> You're right, the envelope continues to be pushed and where will it end? Well, personally? I think the industry has already pretty much fallen anyway, so what happens from here on in will be more of the same or worse. So I just take a trip back in time and I try and avoid as much of todays garbage as I can. Don't get me wrong, there are the few gems that come out today and you grab them with both hands because they seem to be few and far between.
It's about the people in charge of all these things, what they are promoting all for the big dollar, which is what it's really about now. So yeah, I guess we go back to the music we enjoy and can actually let kids watch as well, it's for everybody really! I show my neice and nephew the songs that I grew up with and they respond to it wonderfully. They love it and ask me to put it on again and again.
They see so much garbage of today that if they're not shown anything else, that's all they'll know. I'll have to keep open though, because as you say Linda, there are some that come out and don't rely on image and sex to put across a song. But it's hard, because the rest tend to ruin it for the others.
lol yeah I was into Duran Duran big time too. But actually their music wasn't half bad. It was pretty good stuff, I'd listen to it today! ... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" /> actually I do! That includes some of their 90s stuff too which was really good. DIfferent, but good.
Sunflower, I really like Fleetwood Mac! That's a band I could listen to every single song of theirs, that's rare for me!
Not sure about the other guy, not quite my thing, but nice voice and soothing music too.
