A couple of people I've spoken to say they don't have any problems from their fillings. Is it only people who are sensitive to mercury who have problems? I have so many symptoms.

Unless you have a diagnosis you can't say for sure you have a mercury problem. So might tolerate more detox easier, some worse than others. Maybe some have a more subtle symptoms. Mercury syptoms can cause many conditions and many you can have many symptoms that you might blame on mercury, even though they could in reality exsist by themselves.

(A) Mercury is poisonous to everyone.

(B) If you have amalgam fillings, you are getting a continuous dose of mercury into your lungs and body.

(C) If you have amalgam fillings, you are getting poisoned.

Note: There are numerous variables that cause the severity of mercury symptoms to vary from one person to another. Nevertheless, just because you don't observe symptoms does not mean that mercury is not damaging your body. Additionally, I've met numerous people who didn't realize they had symptoms until they had amalgams removed. They suddenly realized that all these "quirks" they lived with all their lives went away. I had this same realization. After mine were removed, not only did the ~17 things that were wrong with me go away but numerous other things did also, all of which I had NEVER associated with mercury. Most surprisingly, many of them were emotional and personality traits that changed for the better. I realize that for some, it's hard to believe this until you experience it.

Also, there is no doubt that there can be other causes for symptoms that look like mercury poisoning. A common one is copper.

I think another problem is that not everyone gets better quickly like Russ. You have the 80/20 rule. Some people will not detox automatically, this does'nt mean you don't have a mercury problem, it means you might or might not. That is the frustrating part for me, even though there are some very suddle things that changed, no breakthroughs, like my shyness etc. Yet since I had my fillings removed I have been since treated for adrenal fatigue and that has helped vastly. Or maybe it was the fillings? Its SO hard to tell, I for one don't think that no matter how stressed you are, that a normal person can get adrenal fatigue. You have to have something else helping it, I had a nickel toxicity. Many tell me that Nickel is high on hair analysis and that is suggestive of mercury, but my minerals were not out of bounds and my calcium was low NOT high. Nonetheless I could not take the chance that my amalgams may have been contributing to the nickel so I had them pulled. I also have a parasite, which I have also been told that metals help them out too. Very difficult problem, I did'nt get better until I started thinking myself better. Did I start thinking positive from the absence of mercury?

In addition I'd be very leary of when your diagnosised with something such as "anxiety" "depression" "OCD" "adrenal fatigue" this are all descriptions of syptoms NOT the problem. You have to find the problem!!! I think that mercury is a likely cause in many people, its disgusiting, but not everyone. Like Russ said copper is big problem, think schizophrena.

I have OCD which started not long after I had the fillings as a child. It's caused me years of suffering. If it was the mercury, that makes me really sad. But at least if it was, then getting the fillings replaced might me get better.

I read in Hal Huggins' book , "It's all in your Head" that everyone has differnt immune systems and genetics. Mercury will be the "last straw" and tip the scales . It also makes inherited illnesses come on faster than they normally would.

Even though some people dont experience symptoms yet-- they quite possible will as the years progress and they age. Their immune system will be lower and the mercury in their bodies will "tip the scale" and BAM!-- illness will strike for no reason.

It also depends on the amount of mercury fillings and how much mercury. Even one Mercury filling is enough to cause subtle symptoms. Better out than in!!

Amalgam does NOT poison everyone.

Some people are amazingly tolerant of mercury and don't even get poisoned working in factories with much higher exposure than they get from amalgams.

Other people are exquisitely sensitive to mercury.

Just like people are with alcohol - a few get silly after half a glass of wine, most can handle a few drinks, some people can slug down a six pack, drive and act like they are stone cold sober.

I'd like to suggest that as far as human health goes, I think that only the surface has been scratched.

It has occurred to me that maybe some severe deficiency attracts the mercury, which is why some people with a whole bunch of fillings don't get half as sick as so many folks do. Maybe in some hard-to-understand, or not-yet-discovered way, the mercury is "filling the hole" in your body, a hole that, left unfilled, might kill you. Better you get sick than die on the spot...

God knew what he was doing when he allowed for the development of symptoms. Symptoms are what happen to prevent something even worse from happening.

Andy is right. I know people around me with fillings who are living good normal lives.

I cannot even enter a dental office wtihout becoming further severely poisoned by mercury (from the vapor in the office).

So mine is extreme. But again, I have heard of people being very healthy with amalgam in their teeth, everything is fine, years of good health and something comes along and injures them, or something hits their immune system down and then suddenly the mercury in them begins to poison them and they get mercury toxic symptoms.

So, it does come down to tolerance, but also obviously a person's immune system too, as mercury is always a threat, but many are healthy enough to where their body is keeping up and doing it's job.

My post was a long time ago. I've since changed my opinions on mercury. I think those who have the problem with it are either

1. Sensitive
2. Slow excreters
3. BOTH

I don't believe one has to have an underlying health problem to get sick from the mercury. There are people who are fine with amalgams who have very poor diets, drink alcohol, maybe even smoke, and take birth control. I believe that people who are sensitive or slow excreters, can be in optimum health before getting the fillings, but once they have the poison in their system, they get sick.

Mercury is extremely toxic. I don't believe I would have been sick if I hadn't of been given amalgams. I wasn't sick before. No more than any other child, anyway.

Andy, do you have any scientific evidence for your claims? Once mercury is inside the human body it is either stored or excreted - in order for it to be excreted it MUST travel through plasma/renal tubules/biliary and/or GI tract and by the metal's nature (a potent oxidant) that mobilization causes symptoms. If these heavily exposed workers exhibit no symptoms of poisoning whatsoever, it is more likely than not that their organs are incapable of mobilizing and excreting the toxin - they are simply storing it....it is not getting drunk that hurts, it's the morning after. As far as your alcohol analogy, there is a dna sequence that encodes the enzyme that detoxifies alcohol, and some can produce more of it than others, but as far as mercury is concerned, even if, say, you had super high levels of glutathione and/or metallothionein, for example, the mercury would still cause symptoms as it was leaving the body. My guess is that these "healthy" workers have tremendous INTRAcellular body burdens of mercury but probably die of serious disease that mainstream medicine does not attribute to the toxin.

I guess andy means that some show poisoning towards it, others tolerate the stuff, but damage has to be happening on some level becuase the nature of mercury is damaging to us human beings, it just comes down to tolerance and what levels some peole can handle before they exhibit toxic symptoms. Some only take a very small amount, others can handle much more, but regardless, mercury is going to be doing something, even if the damage, is slow and silent and the person isn't sensitive to the mercury.

so yeah anonymous, I see where you are coming from. The fact someone doesn't show symptoms of direct toxicity from mercury, what about the indirect signs? Like the illnesses that come later on that are not attributed to the direct toxicity of mercury.

I've seen people with a mouth full of amalgams leading apparently normal healthy lives, but surely if this stuff is universally a neurotoxin and not fit for human consumption, then it has to be toxic to all living things, regardless of symptoms of poisoning or intolerance.

And some are able to elminate it easier before it can build up and cause too many symptoms, plus if they're not hypersensitive, they are unlikely to notice many effects until they develop an illness that might seem unrelated to mercury, but may very well be caused by it.

Yes, of course the damage is happening, but just not as fast as in more sensitive persons. Yet some people have their fillings carefully and properly removed - and they do not seem to get well! In some cases they get sicker than ever! So, maybe they are stuck between a rock and a hard place, because they can't know in advance whether or not they are so constituted as to be unable to handle removal. What a dilemma.

Yeah Carla, that happened to me. I got worse. Because of the exposure during removal is massive and you can get a one off massive dose of mercury in one sitting, instead of the daily gradual build up from amalgams. Both are bad, very bad, but if you get a good dentist who is going to go the full way with protection and do things gradual and safe, you're much more likely to be able to improve, than someone who has had random removal and not a lot of protection.

Comes down to also the fact that once amalgams are out, the body can then become more sensitised to mercury from that point on. Like me, once I got them out, my reactions to mercuy were far more extreme and I think it's due to the fact the body remembers the damage it did and now that its not in your teeth daily, it recognises and remmbers it and puts up an alarm anytime you come into contact with it. That's how it feels to me.

Also, once all amaglams are out, the body starts to go into dumping mode and will beginto attempt to dump it's storage of mercury, which can make people feel repoisoned and make them very very ill for a very very long time, if they do not get onto a good safe and continual chelation regime to chelate this mercury being dumped.

You imagine having a continual exposure to something and in a sense, your body has to find it's own way of storing it daily and it does it's best to do that, and some store it more because they can't eliminate it as well as others.

Once the continual exposure is turned off (amalgam removal), after a time, the body, having no more daily intake, begins to switch into dumping mode and you just end up basically poisoned up to your eyeballs as the mercury is leaking right back out into your blood/tissues and it can feel much worse than having amalgams in the teeth.

others lucky enough, can get almost cured by amalgam removal alone. Most, have to chelate out what was stored and can have a very very tough time.

I agree with one of Demi's points - some people do not excrete mercury as well as others. They have found that autistic children are missing something from their systems which means they are unable to excrete mercury.

I dont think there are too many people out there with amalgams that are really healthy.
I was sitting at a garden table with family and inlaws the other day and each one of them had amalgam fillings and they were laughing, joking, drinking alcohol and each one of them is poisoned to a degree wether they like it or not.
One had headaches everyday of his life for the last 15 yrs. He has had brain scans the lot but he still suffers them, also he has a bad temper.
My brother is very depressed and only cheers up after a few beers, hes terribly shy and always angry. He has lost alot of friends through anger.
My sister is really overweight, has bad acid reflux, gets out of breath easily, and has anger issues, also she gets hot or cold too quick and thyroid levels show normal.
She also has very bad eyesight.
My mum has terrible arthiritus, very bad eyesight, (went to a blind school) sometimes depressed for nothing and has lots of other health issues in the past. She says she wakes up crying.
I have warned them that having amalgam in their mouths could cause serious problems down the line but they are in denial and so was i until i woke up one day and was dizzy for 2 weeks, couldnt walk unaided and had double and blurred vision which frightened the life out of me.
Since then i have learned alot.
