When I first became ill over 20 years ago, my weight rapidly increased from 160 to around 200 pounds. My weight hit a high of 225 pounds over 10 years ago. After my first 7 amalgams were removed, my wight dropped from around 200 pounds to around 170 pounds in less than 3 months.

when i went on the anti yeast diet i lost about a stone in weight, it was also due to stopping alcohol. then when i had 3 amalgams removed my weight went down a further stone in just one month, i was like a skeleton, i couldnt look at myself in the mirror, my doc was going to put me in hospital when he saw me but i refused to go, i went home and tried so hard to eat fatty foods and put on weight, the weight loss was accompanied by depression.

My weight has always been average, but with the mercury toxicity it shifted around and because of it, I've been too skinny and also too big at different stages of the toxicity and unable to seemingly change either condition much.

WHen I got quite big, it was also bloated as well. Toxic bloat I'd call it, as well as the fact I add badly too BUT, even though I improved by treating candida, I could never quite get slender.

I always looked somewhat solid and took this as the way I was and that was that. Once I got the amalgams removed, the weight rolled off me pretty quickly. In fact, I would say almost instantaneous (only when the lot were done though). So my figure suddenly altered and I was quite surprised that extra bit of chubbiness had gone.

So then I became a more slender average build. I could gain a bit of weight if I ate too much, just like any normal person, but lost it properly too if I cut back a bit. Stable you could say.

Once I got the virus I have now, I dropped more weight and became more underweight than anything. Losing my appetite didn't help. I treat candida now with diet and it "helps" to a point, but I'm not what I was. I can very easily get underweight now. So I eat properly to keep any on me.

It's interesting how much toxins and/or infections/viruses can have quite a profound impact on the balance and body weight. I know people who are overweight and cannot seem to shift a pound, yet don't eat anything out of the ordinary. You can tell something isn't right.

I realise some people do simply overeat and don't move enough, but I believe in some cases there is a bit more to it. As I believe with those underweight too.

I tried to edit my first post, but it said that it could no longer be edited. Anyway, I am a 5'7" male, so 150-160 pounds is a good weight for me. In other words, I never became underweight, but did go from being a good weight to being very overweight due to the mercury. It is amzing how fast most of the extra weight came off. Almost as fast as it came on when I first got sick years ago. Do you think I might have a chance of becoming underweight after months of chelation? BTW, a stone is 14 pounds. I did a Google search to look it up.

That sounds a good weight for you height.

I don't believe that chelation will cause you to drop anymore weight. The weight normalises when the body is healthier and balance is coming back. If your body needed to adjust the weight, then chelation would probably help that (if it is mercury related). However, it seems that just the amalgam removal alone has balanced this out already.

Sometimes though during detoxing, some weight can come off initially, but it comes back on when things come back into balance. Like with me, when I've been underweight, I had to get rid of the sugar and wheat/gluten etc again. I lost even more weight at first, and then later gained it back on and a bit more when things improved. Similar to a big person having the opposite happen. The weight tends to normalise after things improve.

I'm 5 foot 5, I sit at around 130 pounds. I have been at 115 before and over 140 at different times in my life. Now it remains more-a-less stable.

According to this website, a 5'5" woman should weight 117-130,127-141, or 137-155 depending on frame size.

http://www.healthchecksystems.com/heightweightchart.htm

For a 5'7 man, the numbers are 138-145, 142-154, 149-168. My frame is on the larger size. Even so, I guess I should try to get down to 155 pounds. I am curently around 170 pounds. When I got up to 225 pounds 13 years ago I became terrified. I basically almost starved myself for a while to keep myself from getting any heavier. The scary part about gaining plenty of weight is that fat cells can then multiply, muking it that much harder to lose weight. I was so miserable being 75 pounds overweight.

Thanks for posting that. Welll, I guess I never went quite off the charts, but I can tell you the impact was most definitely visible. I think it depends on each person's frame too as you said.

When I was gaining weight, I was gaining by the year. It started at age 19 and admittedly my eating habits were not great, but I was actually getting bigger by the year. Again healthier diet helped this but the chubbiness did not go. I have heard before about mercury's effect on weight (either over or under).

If you have a larger frame, I would be careful to go too much by weight charts because I know a guy who is 5 foot 9 and a half and is way off the weight scale on these charts, yet if he loses the weight to fit in with the chart (e.g. getting down below 170 pounds or so)...he starts looking sick and underweight. So judge yourself more by the mirror!

Apparently when a person tries to starve their weight down, the body goes into storage mode because it thinks it's going to need to store everything it actually does get. It gets more efficient at storing fat if people continue going on crash diets. I do believe though that through the right nutrition, that things would balance back out again.

I have treated my body pretty badly plenty of times in my eating habits. I've gone from bingeing to almost starvation plenty of times!!! very very bad.

Besides the charts, there is the waitline. My waistline got up to 44" when I was 225 pounds. My waist is now 36". I would like to get it down to 34". Some gym addicts would probably say I should try to get it to 32". I am 48 and still single, so I need to concentrate on my appearance.

True, I should have mentioned the measurements! Men tend to gain around their middle, so it can be a big problem. My father is one of those men that is average everywhere else, but all the weight goes on his stomach.

At least you'e aware of it, even for appearances sake, but for health it is vital (the heart). I'm not into the gym bunny side of things as such, but "try" when I can to walk and eat healthy. It can be a trial when you feel like trash most of the time.

You've had a big jump from 44" to 36", that is dramatic!

When i started becoming ill my weight went from 120 all the way up to 185. It didn't happen overnite. It was over a six year span. I tried everything to lose the weight. As I became more toxic I started to drop a pound or 2 here or there. I thought I was doing ok...I was finally losing some of the weight. Well I lost all the way down to 140 and then last year I ended up with H-pylori and with the whole yeast diet I now weigh 105. I have never been under 120 lbs since I grew up. I tried so hard all my life to get to my proper weight but I was always a little chunky and could never get the weight off. Really weird my sister has always been the skinny one and now I can wear her clothes....it's different that's for sure. Wished I could have weighed 105 in high school might not have been such a loner back then.

I actually had a 34" waist before I became ill. Eleven years ago I did manage to get my waist back to 34". That was just 2 years after it had hit 44". After that it went back to 40" in just a few months. Since then it has been 40" or less. Web sites have articles linking waist size to diabetes risk.

http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2005/03/050325150149.htm

"Having an abdominal circumference of more than 88 cm (35 inches) in women and 102 cm (40 inches) in men indicates the highest risk of cardiovascular and metabolic disease. "

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/4258208.stm

Other articles claim that waist size is a better indicator of risk for colon cancer or risk for breast cancer than BMI.

Hello Skieslimit. Were you suffering from extreme fatigue? Fibromyalgia? Chemical sensitivity? I was suffering with all three. I am a bit angry that so much mercury was put into my mouth(24 of my teeth had mercury fililings!). I am also angry that none of the physicians I went to about my chronic fatigue never brought up the issue of so much mercury in my mouth. I brought it up with at least one, and asked him to check my heavy metals. At least one did a blood test for heavy metals including mercury. I didn't know that a blood test would be meaningless. One physician did a hair test for heavy metals, but didn't gain any insight from that.
One of my friends is a pediatrician. I am educating him about health problems from amalgam fillings. He also thought that a blood test would show elevated mercury if mercury toxicity is a problem. Some people have said that they became so sick after a mercury challenge test. Some websites claim a mercury challenge test might even possibly cause permanent damage in some who are very mercury toxic.

when I was at my worst about 18 months ago , I lost almost 30 pounds , in a short period of time, and just could not put it back on ,no matter what I ate , now after being amalgam free for 9 months I have gained it back plus an extra 5 pounds , a healthy weight for me , when I start working out again I will probably put on an extra 5-10 pounds ,due to the extra muscle

In 10 years I lost about 40pct of my weight. From 92 kg down to 56kg. That’s a loss of 36Kg in 10 years. (202pounds down to 123 pounds…. a loss of 79pounds)

I am 6foot 1in tall. I was all skin and bones at the end.

Thankfully I have put on 9kg these last 5 months (20pounds)

Hi JK
Yes I have all 3 plus ibs and have had for the last 12 years. I did ok and managed all my symptoms until I got H-pylori. I did have 4 of my amalgams removed 6 years ago and money was short so I put it off the rest. After I got those first 4 out I managed ok but then my stomach went down completely. Probably partly my fault it got so bad cause I would not go to the doc. With my chemical sensitivities I was afraid they would really hurt me so I saved up the money and went to a nd. I quit going there after I got my stomach back to being ok. They wanted me to start chelation right away and every time they would push my body I would be in major pain...the hex reaction. So.... I decided I could go it on my own better and so far I was right. I just needed some time to clear the pathways and still have some work to do before I start chelation but is only a couple of months down the road now. Looks more promising with lots less pain to go thru. I am doing my 3rd parasite cleanse and then colon cleanse and liver and kidney flush then I will be ready I think to try and move those metals out. Well hang in there I know it is not easy.

It seems like there may be a pattern here. In earlier stages, you become more hypothyroid maybe and put on pounds, and then after you get real sick, you don't feel like eating much as your body is trying to dump toxins, and you lose a lot. Later, after you get a bit better, your weight comes up again.

Least it seem that way to me. I slowly went up to 210, but I did not mind as I lift weights, so it just showed as more bulk. Although my face seemed to have a strange puffiness to it back then, and skin looked unhealthy. At the point of real sickness, I dropped 35-40 lbs, down to like 170. Now, after removal of the mercury fillings, I am probably back to 185-190.

My skin, though still dry, has a much healthier look to it. Since my fillings have been out people have said my color looks better. The skin woes through the whole thing - what a drag. This is just more of mercury's wonderful effect on the body.

I went from 185 lbs. of solid muscle to 110 lbs. of skin and bones. No weight gain yet but I'm hopeful!

Mark, you are 110 pounds now? How tall are you? What are you doing to try to regain weight? The usual advice for those who want to gain weight rapidly in a healthy manner is to eat plenty of nuts and dried fruit. Dried fruit, especially raisind and dates can cause tooth decay though, Eating plenty of nuts and sunflower seeds sounds like a great way to help gain weight.

Wow, 110 pounds! I have weighed that almost once and I was skinny enough. People were getting quite worried. But I just simply didn't have an appetite and wasn't absorbing nutrients properly either.

That is a really dramatic weight loss, I hope that in time your weight will balance itself out. Mine has improved since excluding sugar and gluten etc, and taking onboard proteins (eggs and meat) and animal fats etc. If I didn't have this? I'd be too slender. I am only barely able to keep average and I fight to hold it there.
