I got the Cutler book yesterday (thanks to quick delivery from Laura) and am finding it useful.

As a result of reading it, I have added some supplements to my daily intake, and thought I would post them here to see if there is anything in them I should be wary about.

This is what I am taking now:

Vit C - 500mg once a day
VIT E - 400iu once a day
Beta-Carotene - 6mg once a day
Folic Acid - 200% RDA (book said can help reduce estrogen)
Zinc - 15mg (book recommended 50mg, but I couldn't find that)
Magnesium - 250mg

Anything in these that stirs up mercury?

First time I take a new supplement, I seem to have a reaction, but then they seem to help a bit. Last night I had really bad dreams, but am hoping I won't tonight.

I'm a bit wary on the Vit B's recommended and the co-enzymes Q10 so haven't put them in yet. The Vit B Complex's I found all seem to either contain niacin, which isn't good for everyone I believe, or high doses of B6, and regular taking of dose like 50mg can lead to neurological problems.

So, this is basically what I am taking now.

I have discontinued taking VIT E. I don't think it's doing me. It makes my eyes funny, I just read that people taking 400iu are putting themselves at risk. I've only been taking it 10 days, so gopefully have not done any damage.

Also I discontinued the Beta Carotene as I didn't realise it had gelatine capsules, and I also read that too much VIT A isn't good.

I'm going to try and look for a good general multi-vit. The one I have doesn't have a lot of the things I want in it.

Where did you read about taking too much vitamin A and E?

The reason I ask is that the "establishment" medical (dis)information system is constantly telling people not to take "too much" of this or that. They sound real convincing and even cite studies often but they are not telling the whole truth. I was wondering if the sources where you read this are "establishment" or not.

Thanks.

I don't know what the source was. I read it online, and was also told it by a friend.

I am a bit phobic about taking anything, to tell the truth (I have lots of phobias) so if I read something has any amount of controversy, I get scared to take it.

The article said that over 400iu Vit E can lead to liver toxicity and failure, and Vit A cause blindness and other problems.

I really don't know who to believe, so I'm just going to play it safe and take what is considered safe. Otherwise I'll just end up taking nothing, because of my phobias.

The optimum daily intake of vitamin E for adult men/women is 400 to 800 IU (international units).

Vitamin E is considered non-toxic. There is no well-documented toxicity for vitamin E in doses of 800 to 1,200 IU per day.

There are 2 conditions for which it is best to start with small doses of vitamin E, gradually increasing the amount:

1) in high blood pressure patients - taking large doses in someone not accustomed to it can cause an initial increase in blood pressure; and,

2) chronic rheumatic heart disease patients need to be started with low doses.

Here are some health problems that have been discussed on this forum, which vitamin E will benefit:

Vitamin E and Environmental Toxins (like mercury!):
Vitamin E's antioxidant effects will help protect the body from mercury, lead, carbon tetrachloride, benzene, ozone, nitrous oxide, and a variety of other carcinogens and toxins.

In fact, way back in 1980, an article was published in the peer-reviewed medical journal, "Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences," stating that "It is well established that the toxicity of silver and methylmercury is suppressed by the presence of low levels of vitamin E or selenium in the diet."

A more recent article published in the "Townsend Letter for Doctors and Patients" (May 2001) states that "Vitamin E works with selenium to neutralize mercury."

Vitamin E and Glandular/Hormone Function:
Vitamin E prevents both the pituitary and adrenal hormones from being oxidized. Vitamin E deficiency causes a reduction in the level of functioning of the pituitary and adrenal glands.

Vitamin E and Calcium:
Vitamin E also appears to be involved in calcium metabolism, correcting deposition in the body of either too little or too much.

Vitamin E and Leg Pain:
Vitamin E is able to bring relief to intermittent claudication - a severe pain in calf muscles which results from inadequate blood supply caused by arterial spasm, "restless legs", and atherosclerosis.

Vitamin E and Headaches:
Vitamin E is used for easing headaches because it preserves the oxygen in the blood for an extended period, which results in more efficiency as the blood is pumped through the blood vessels of the head. Vitamin E has also relieved migraine attacks.

Vitamin E and Eyesight:
Ingestion of large amounts of vitamin E have even improved nearsightedness and crossed eyes, plus recent studies indicate vitamin E may also reduce the risk of developing cataracts.

In fact, the "Townsend Letter" article mentioned above also states that "Methyl mercury inhibits acetylcholine synthesis, an essential neurotransmitter, resulting in loss of short- and long-term memory, poor concentration, cognitive dysfunction, incoordination and gait abnormalities, visual and auditory disturbances, i.e., blindness and deafness, decreased and/or aberrations of the sense of taste and smell, slurred speech, tingling and numbness of the extremities, especially of the hands and feet, tremors of the head and limbs, weakness and f atigue; all symptoms which are pathognomonic of multiple sclerosis. [Perhaps the "funny" vision problem you mentioned is actually due to an increase in mercury levels in your blood due to detoxification...you might want to take Algin to help reduce your mercury levels and/or slow down your detox program.]

Other Benefits of Vitamin E:
Not to mention vitamin E's beneficial effects on cancer, cardiovascular disease, wound healing, immune health, nervous system health, fibrocystic breast disease, menopause and PMS, etc.

Unfortunately, there is a lot of mis-information circulating about vitamin supplements, which I whole-heartedly believe is propagated by the pharmaceutical industries. Think about it...if you could solve your health problems by taking some vitamins and minerals, the drug companies and doctors would be out of business (and then where would they get the money to pay for their Mercedes Benz and Jaguar payments)!

If it wasn't so evil, I would laugh at all the ridiculous news stories I see on CNN, etc. that claim that vitamin E (or vitamin C, or countless other vitamins and minerals) don't work or can be toxic...when decades of scientific studies have proven just the opposite! Instead, they want us to believe that in order to be healthy, we need to take Allegra (for our allergies), and Lipitor (for our cholesterol), and Vioxx (for our arthritis), and on and on, when in reality, these health problems are almost always traceable to a vitamin/mineral deficiency that in fact, may very well be caused by something like, what...mercury?!!!!

I'd recommend the following references to help you learn more about the "real" benefits and cautions of vitamins and minerals:

The Natural Pharmacy

Nutrition Almanac

The Real Vitamin & Mineral Book

I hope this information helps to put some fears at rest.

Beta-carotene is not the same thing as Vitamin A. Beta-carotene is derived from plants and is "converted into vitamin A" in the body. Vitamin A is a fat-soluble nutrient found in animal tissues such as fish liver oil.

A normal healthy adult would have to take a least 100,000 IU of vitamin A daily for a period of months in order to display any signs of toxicity (i.e. early signs include fatigue, nausea, vomiting, headache, vertigo (dizziness), blurred vision, muscular incoordination, and loss of body hair). All of these symptoms are reversible when supplementation is stopped.

Beta-carotene does NOT cause any side-effects; however, excessive intake (more than 100,000 IU or 60mg per day) sometimes gives the skin a yellow-orange hue. This is a signal that the body has converted as much beta-carotene to active A as it can, leaving the excess as an orange-yellow pigment. This is completely reversible by just cutting back on the amount of beta-carotene intake.

You want to be sure that you're taking "natural" beta-carotene, not the synthetic kind. Synthetic beta-carotene does not have the antioxidant activity that the natural form does.

Look for phrases like: "from D. salina", "from an algal source", "from a palm source", or "natural beta-carotene" on the label.

Individuals who limit their intake of beta-carotene-containing vegetables (dark green or orange-yellow vegetables) or beta-carotene supplements could be at a higher risk of developing a vitamin A deficiency.

Individuals taking beta-carotene for long periods of time should also supplement with vitamin E, as beta-carotene may reduce vitamin E levels.

Thanks for the info. I've bought a new Vit E supplement that is only 100iu now, but am probably not going to take it until I can the veggie alginate.

I do think the vit e has helped my vision somewhat, which may be why I got the problem with my eyes in the dark, but I'll be happier with a lesser amount.

At the moment I'm just taking vit c, magnesium, zinc and folic acid.

Re vitamin E: An important aspect was not mentioned, namely, the quality of the vitamin. As I understand, the latest versions of Vit. E - with the mixed tocopherols from natural source, and tocotrienols - is better, much better, for you than simple, pharmaceutical-style, cheap Vitamin E.

I was feeling a lot more energetic and optimisic last week when I was taking the vitamin e than I am feeling this week now I have stopped. I don't know if that's coincidence. I want to start taking 50-100iu a day but am waiting until I get the alginate.

Magnesium made a huge improvement for me. It cured 80 % of the irratibilty and anger. Citrate is the best form of magnesium. I would recommend 400 mg w/ dinner.

I agree with Anonymous...magnesium citrate is an excellent, highly bioavailable (meaning absorbed and utilized by the body) form of magnesium. I, too, feel much better when I take extra magnesium. I take one called Magnesium Complex - it has both magnesium citrate and magnesium malate, which appear to be better absorbed and utilized than forms like magnesium carbonate, magnesium chloride and magnesium oxide. Plus, since they're in capsules, you can open the capsules and pour the contents under your tongue for even faster absorption.

Also, an earlier post mentioned that with vitamin E, the more natural forms containing mixed tocopherols and tocotrienols are better than your cheap vitamin E alone. The poster is absolutely correct. Here's a bit of helpful info:

Quote
Vitamin E is actually not a single entity, but rather a lipid (fat) soluble micronutrient containing 8 active, naturally occurring plant constituents—4 tocopherols (alpha, beta, delta, gamma) and 4 tocotrienols (alpha, beta, delta, gamma). Collectively, these compounds are known as vitamin E. Thus, research suggests that a prudent approach to vitamin E supplementation for a healthy individual may be to take a supplement providing mixed tocopherols and tocotrienols.8,25-32

The HART Complete Herbal Reference

I use Vitamin E Complete because it contains all 4 tocopherols and all 4 tocotrienols, plus selenium, which works together with vitamin E.

Whatever you do, don't get a vitamin E supplement that indicates it is dl-tocopherol, because this is a completely synthetic form.

Personally for me I take a multivitamin everyday, 1000 mg of vitamin c three times a day, vitamin a, vitamin e, zinc, magnesium. Remember, mercury toxic people do not absorb nutrience very well so a 100 mg of something may seem like a lot but you may only get 40 of it. Just add one new thing at a time and see how you feel.

With fillings still in, I would take Algin 2 to 3 times per day between meals to help prevent redistribution of the mercury.

Laura, I'm glad you said what you did about Vitamin E. It just gives me a wrench when I see folks filling themselves with incomplete forms of the vitamin. Vitamin C is even worse! I would never, ever take plain ascorbic acid or calcium or other ascorbate again. Vit. C is so complex; we need the whole thing.

Hi,

I am not English man, that excuse my grammar and spelling, please.

I have a realy exciting story for you, I recommend you to read it all,
you will be very surprised...

This is the full story:

I am 28 years old, nearsighted on my right eye for about 10 years, left eye
is still in good condition. I am from Europe, I like to play soccer, go to the fitness everyday, swim, work with computers a lot...

1. I have spotted some floaters in both of my eyes approximately
4-years ago. I thought my floaters appeared by eye imflammation.
I took lots of exams with different doctors and everyone said, that
my floaters are caused by my nearsighted eyes and are common. For me - OK, no problem to understand.

2. 1-year ago I accidentaly started to hear some whistle in both of my ears.
I took ear's exam, doctor said that everything is OK, so for me OK too.

3. I took some blood exams because my work requierements and doctor discovered, that my blood is not in very good condition, but he does not prescribe me any drugs and told me to wait. For me - still OK.

4. My headache permanently increased by last months, I see my hair decreasing. For me not very good, I have started to think what happens?

5. 1 or 2 months ago I have started to see another floaters and now - flashes in both of my eyes. For me - realy bad.

And appearently I realized, that is enough for me and for my life. I am so young to have all of this diseases. Why I have headache, hair decreasing, floaters and flashes, whistling in ears, wrong blood???????????????
I have started to find something on the internet. I have spent 1 month to look for some information. I have found many many articles about floater and flashes, migraine, tinnitus (whistling in ears), but no one completely fall into my indications.

But now, I think I have found the right site!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Amalgam and mercury seem to be only thing that bother me and cause all of my problems. Why????
Because I have 3/4 of my teeth fill by amalgam. I have never assumed that amalgam can cause such great amount of destruction.
So I decided to immediately remove all of my amalgam fillings!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would like to ask you some related questions:

1. Can I start with this vitamins?

C - 500mg/day
E - 100iu/day
Beta-Carotene - 6mg/day
Folic Acid - 800mcg/day
Zinc - 15mg/day
Magnesium - 400mg/day
Copper - 2mg/day
Selenium - 100mcg/day

I assume to get this vitamins for about 3 months.

Is there some multivitamin which consists of all mentioned supplements?

2. After that I will take my first amalgam filling out.

I will tell my dentist, that he must follow right instructions to remove
amalgam filling, but what are the right instructions?
Huggins safety protocol for removal?

What is the period between removing amalgam fillings?
One tooth a month or two months?

What happens after? Should I take some other vitamins or drugs?
(something like lipoic acid, MSM, and chelating drugs after amalgam removal)

What about Algin?
What is the most well-designed detox plan?

Thank you very much for further answers...

Marek

Hi,

I have additional question:

why do you recommend such great amount of
C 10x more than Centrum
E 3x more than Centrum
Magnesium 200x more than Centrum
???
Is it good for my health?

I have taken Centrum for about 1 year, but it did not
help me, I think Centrum is not enough for Mercury treatment.
Am I right?

Centrum is probably not enough. These are the bare minimum of vitamins helpful for those that are not sick. I find if I only take 500mg of Vit. C I am deficient in it and do not feel any benefit. I too have about that amount of fillings and have the same symptoms you have.
You can get all the filling removed at once. Some dentist will only do a few at a time. However, you really can't begin to detox until they are all gone. Do not take Lipoic acid until all your fillings are removed. Huggins protocol is good. Another view is www.iaomt.org
A basic supplement list to do before removal might look like this:
Buffered Vitamin C: 1/2 -2 grams four times a day
B complex: (a b-25 or b-50) four times a day
zinc: 50-100mg divided into four doses taken throughout the day
Magnesium: 500-1000mg in divided doses (four per day)
Milk Thistle extract: 1/4-1 capsule per dose, taken four times a day (20-80 mg a day total)
Vitamin E: 500 IU
Mixed carotenes, lycopenes
Flax and/or Borage/or Fish Oils(Essential Fatty acids)
: 1-3 Tbsp per day
Selenium: 200 mcg as selenomethionine divided into four doses each day
Chromium Picolinate: 200 mcg with every meal
Molybendum: aprox. 1000 mcg a day divided into four doses
NO copper
Vitamin A: 5x the RDA divided into 3-4 doses per day

Some of these may seem high but they would be divided into four separate doses taken throughout the day. This is because mercury toxic people do not absorb nutrients very well and water soluable vitamins must be take more than once a day. You can find multivitamins of good quality that will meet close to these amounts. Some things you will have to take as a separate supplement. After your fillings are out you would continue the supplements but could begin to remove mercury using Lipoic Acid. Frequent low dosing works better. (The best place to find info in this is a book called Amalgam Illness by Dr. Andrew Cutler)
Oh and taking Algin is helpful to absorb the daily exposure you get while the filling are still in. Thus a good point for having them all removed at once.

Marek,

You need C to protect your body from mercury-induced oxidative damage. You need E to protect your brain from the same. The higher amounts don't hurt people, but there is, unfortunately, a lot of misinformation coming from many governments that try to scare people away from higher doses. It's a shame.

I tend to believe Centrum may be useless because of the amount of bad information I've heard about it from field alternative health professionals who are well studied. I take this multi which is by far the best I've ever seen:

Super Supplemental (outstanding)

And honestly, I'm not saying this because I sell it, I sell it because I love it.

I used to go to Carrabba's restaurant in Port Richey Florida weekly. I love that place. We got to know many of the servers and eventually the manager asked what multivitamin we take. I gave him a sample and within weeks, he had nearly 1/2 of the entire staff on it. He couldn't stop taking about it. He loved it. It's really is amazing.

Thank you very very much for your response,

I am glad to hear that you understand my problems and try to help me...

Today I am going to shop to buy vitamins following your
recommendation.

As you, I think that Centrum is not enough because I have used it
for 1 year or more and it did not help me.

Now I am sure, that I will remove all my fillings...

I have another question:

When my dentist remove 1 filling by month, should he follow
the Huggins protocol, or not? In this case, he could remove fillings
just one after another, or he should follow rules, too?

Thank you...

He should follow the Huggins protocol when EACH filling is removed. They should be removed in quadrant-voltage order as well.

Safety is very important during removal so make sure you don't get mercury contamination during this time or you could get much sicker.

All the best.

hi,

I am taking recommended vitamins almost 1 month,
but I think, I feel worse and worse:

my hands are shaking,
I feel pain by my left kidney area,
I still see floaters and flashes,
I feel like throwing, but I do not throw up,
I feel pain in my teeth,

What now?

Should I continue to take vitamins,
or should I stop for some period of time?

Thank you for your answer
