Hi Jinx, I have used Niacin many years ago and got the flush, but never used it since. On a candida forum I am on, the lady owner recommends niacin because it is the natural form of B3 and believes it is very good. Niacinamide is synethic.
These are the supplements she recommends and she talks a bit about Niacin:
http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/supp6.phpThere is plenty other very helpful advice there too. She is very clued up.
However, Andy mentions that the Niacin form of B3 may not be so great for those that have fast liver phase I (myself). Certain supplements can speed this up even more I hear. So he recommends the other form Niacinamide, which actually helps slow it down.....
It depends on your liver phases I and II perhaps, but I don't know. To be honest, I never noticed using those things like grapefruit seed extract or niacinimide (to slow down fast phase i) did much at all for me...
Again the candida forum owner recommends Niacin and if someone gets a B complex and it does not contain B3 in the natural form of this, she recommends adding niacin on its own to the B complex regime.
Also, apparently flushes from niacin can also depend on how toxic you are. IF you are really toxic, you have to start at low doses I hear to minimise reactions. It also depends on whether you have the right Niacin. Make sure it's not the "non flushing" kind!
Sorry Jinx, wish I could be more helpful.
