Hi Duper, congratulations. So glad to hear that the amalgams are gone. I hope you'll be ok with the root canals.

If you re-read this thread, suggestions re amalgam chelation have been made with links given. Looking over them and getting a good idea of what tends to be the safest approach for many people.

I used the Andrew Hall Cutler way mostly to chelate myself more safely of stored mercury. Starting with DMSA (available online). Using DMSA for a few months before adding an organ/brain chelating agent (ALA alpha lipoic acid, which should not be used early on until body/blood levels have first been reduced).

An idea of the protocol is just basically starting with a low dose of DMSA, e.g. 12.5 mg (some start as low as 6 mg, some can start with a higher dose). I used 50 mg back then, but in retrospect, I think that was too much. Certainly the more toxic you are, the slower and lower you should go until you can safely increase dose without causing "too" many side effects. The protocol is taking the DMSA every 4 hours around the clock (even through the night, so you'll need to set an alarm). Doing this for approximately 3 days on and then taking a break of 3 days (or more if required) and then repeating this cycle. Some do more days on, it's up to the individual. E.g. 5 days on, 5 days off. Or 5 days on, 7 days off. There is no fast hard rule, except that you should break about as long as you chelated or longer if necessary. And you should chelate longer than 2 days. It should be 3 days or more (up to a week if you wish).

This is the protocol quite a lot of amalgam toxic people tend to try out. It worked for me, works for quite a few people and there are testimonies on here already that I've put up earlier on the sucess of it if you need further confirmation. That is followed for approximately 2 - 4 months, and then ALA is brought onboard. ALA can be taken alone or with DMSA. Some find it better to use with DMSA< because it tends to keep things more stable and can help with side effects.

It's up to you. THere are of course plenty of ways that people may choose to get rid of metals, but for me they were too risky. Some use garlic, cilantro, chlorella, msm etc. For me? They mobilised the metals more than removed them. My body wasn't too good at eliminating what was being stirred up and pulled around. Andy's protocol suited me more in the end.

Diet of course is the foundation of all of this. Without going on a specific healthy diet, I found everything in life far more painful. It just caused me to struggle with candida issues as well as mercury. Sometimes candida can wind up causing more symptoms than the mercury, or you can get confused as to what is doing what. Pathogens V metals. Nasty symptoms.

Supplements are helpful too in many cases. I chose to go with a quality vitamin/mineral complex powder (containing almost everything). Then on top of that, I added vitamin E, selenium, extra vitamin C, milk thistle, zinc magnesium. Iodine can also be helpful because mercury tends to block this and instead takes up residence and causes thyroid issues. Does the same with selenium too. Basically any trace elements are interferred with and competed with and blocked by mercury.

Diet and replacing these elements can actually cause some eruption of metals even without direct powerful chelating agents, so it's best to go easy. Of course, die off from pathogens would come into it too. anytime you rease the ability of your body to assert itself (amalgam removal, better diet and supplements), you will usually find an increase in detox and healing symptoms, so that can be quite difficult at first to deal with.

Hot baths with epsom salts are great, as is baking soda and sea salt (about a cup of each or more). Having it as hot as you can stand (within reason, don't make yourself dizzy!!!). Lying in it up to your chin and staying there as long as you can. If you feel weird, get out of there! Or cool the bath down. I wouldn't take risks <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> Not in that situation. Forcing yourself doesn't work. It should be something that you can tolerate for the most part. If you find all you do is feel sick without being able to stand the heat or sweat properly, this method may not be for you. Or you'll just have to start easy and see how you go.

Exercise is good (moderate, don't overdo it, it can stir up metals). This too helps with eliminating toxins and no doubt some metals too (already accessible metals). Rebounding and/or walking (treadmill outdoors etc) is great.

If you can handle sulfur? Some do very well on it. If you find it stirs metal up too much? Go easy on sulfur foods (eggs, onions, broccoli, garlic, cabbage, etc etc). Check for reactions. I had to watch out for sulfur when I was very metal toxic, because it encouraged metals to move around more. Sure no doubt some came out, but it did feel horrible. So it's best to go easy if you' find it causes too many symptoms.

Avoiding sugar, caffeine, milk, wheat/gluten are pretty essential. These are the main offending culprits to anybody toxic and/or with mercury. Hal Huggins warns agains them and encourages a high proteins (meats and eggs) and high animal fat diet (enough salt should be used also). Check Dr weston Price to confirm the needs for these foods, particularly as Hal Huggins says for mercury toxic people.
