Mikey I have an answer for you on this. I have just seen hormone specialist, Dr Thierry Hertoghe, today with my daughter, who has slightly above the range cholesterol. I was a bit concerned about this, so we discussed it in some depth. His view is that cholesterol is 80% controlled by thyroid, 20% influenced by diet. So if your diet is good, but you have high cholesterol, chances are you are hypothyroid. High cholesterol is one of the classic signs of hypothyroidism. This may show up even if your TSH is 'normal'. The TSH test is worthless when it comes to detecting whether someone is hypothyroid or not, but doctors love it. Which is why your doc is not making the link between TSH, high cholesterol, and a good diet. My advice would be to go to www.stopthethyroidmadness.com, start reading, and educate yourself about thyroid. Your doctor hasn't got a clue. Hope this is useful. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> Nicola
