Hello Bex.
Lavender oil is regarded as GRAS (Generally Regarded As Safe).
It is considered a Dietary Supplement and a Food Aditive.
Bex, as you know, all of these remedies fall under the law of self medication. You take the decision and the responsibility to use them or not.
Within the English method of teaching, Essential Oils can be inhailed and applied topically.
Within the French method of teaching, Essential Oils can be Inhailed, applied topically and or taken internally.
Nature Sunshine follows the English method. Young Living follows the French method. Both have literature on the matter. Please read and inform yourself before using them on your person.
It is a matter of doing your homework to see what will work for you. Believing in the remedies plays a big part in the healing process.
Dr. Rene Gattefosse was a French Chemist. He burned his hand badly in the laboratory and quickly discovered the healing power of Lavender essential oil. You can read about him in the internet and he also has an Aromatherapy book where he explains how to use the oils.
I can share with you what my sister (the diabetic one) and I did when one of her root canals got infected. She was extremely tired day in and day out after she got that root canal. She had insomnia, couldn't sleep at all. She had constant nausea and headaches to name a few of her symptoms. We didn't put the two and two together, we thought it was her sugar levels causing all kinds of trouble. She had no pain so the root canal was ruled out. Things got so bad she began to have trouble breathing. This particular night I went to her house and I had Lavender and clove oils with me. We decided to try them. I heated water, added some Epsom salt added 50 drops of Lavender oil and about 10 drops of clove oil. I let the water cool off, to where she could stand it, and began to put compresses on the side of her face where she had had the root canal. I put compresses for 30 minutes by then, she had fallen asleep. The next morning she called me and told me something was woosing from her gum and it smelled putrid. I went to see her and yes, something was coming out of her gum and it smelled horrible. Since there was something visual and the dentist could also smell it, he finally believed her that something was very wrong. She was sent to a surgeon. We weren't explained anything. The surgeon simply did his thing and came to show me he had found a tiny piece of something that looked like cotton after he removed her crown. Well that's what he said anyway. Whatever it was, my sister was well within days after the surgery. She continued with the compresses and also rubbed the lavender oil neat on her gum. All of us learned to keep our toothbrushes in water with tee three oil. So far so good, the infection has never come back.
I think that if you can prevent bacteria and viruses from getting any further than the mouth, it doesn't matter where the cavitation might be because if there is no bacteria it won't be able to get to it.
Also, eventhough X-rays can't detect cavitations in most cases as you explained. I believe there is a tool called Cavitat which has a very high degree of accuracy locating them. It has been available since 1998 and as far as I know most Holistic dentist have it. I know they charge and arm and a leg but it is probably worth it.
I do hope if you try essential oils; it would help your problem. Do imform yourself so that you do it with peace of mind and confidence.
