150 gr jumbo oatflakes 2 tablespoons sunflower seeds 2 " pumpkin seeds(roughly chopped) 2 " desicated coconut 2 " linseeds
mix these in a bowl
then add some WALNUT OIL about 9 tablespoons
some MAPLE SYRUP ,about 2 tablespoons
some HONEY, about 1 tablespoon (a good quality thick honey such as "manuka"honey seems great for this.)
mix all of these together really well and then flatten into some sort of suitable baking tray. Seems to stick together best if you flatten it out with the back of a big spoon.
Bake for around 15/20 mins at 180 degrees c and leave to cool before cutting.
If they crumble on you experiment with the amounts of ingredients,I never weigh or measure any more just add a bit of this &that and they turn out much nicer.

These are simple for children of all ages to make and are worth a taste.
delicious if you can't eat some of these ingredients can be substituted with other things, like millet or/and quinoa flakes instead of oatflakes,or different seeds/nuts. different oils or brown rice syrup instead of maple or honey...

Ummm, looks good. Think I will try that. Manuka Honey? Whats all that about then? I see that in the shops and its so expensive….i just googled it and ………. Manuka honey is well known for its antibacterial and natural anti-biotic properties. It is now being tested in hospitals and by cancer research groups to see just how effective it in is aiding post operative wounds. Traditionally it has been taken for stomach, throat and skin ailments and factor 18+ and 20+ are suitable for external use, applying them directly onto the wound.
There are various strengths of Manuka from 5+ - 20+ and which one you should choose depends on what it is being used for. The lower the number (the UMF = Unique Manuka Factor, ie, the activity level) the lower the activity or strength. Lower strengths are suitable for general well being and as a preventative, while the higher numbers are suitable for remedial use. Manuka can be expensive, but it is true that you get what you pay for with this product. The good thing is that results are usually fast, and it is often well worth the investment. Do u have any experience with this stuff?

Yes Manuka honey is apparently where it's at! I don't usually have honey but I had this in the cupboard when I was first making the flapjacks...however I'm not sure what cooking it at that temperature does to it's medicinal properties, but it does help keep them together.
Manuka honey,(what little I know of it )has medicinal properties I think it ranges from a low UMF factor from around UMF 5 up to UMFof 20,the higher the more potent,I think, the higher UMF smells medicinal, slightly antiseptic kind of like teatree.
I keep a jar of umf 5 for stuff like making flapjacks and a jar of umf 20 for anyone with sorethroats /colds etc.
Manuka gives instant relief from a sore throat.usually take half hour away from food. It's powerful. It is also known to heal stomach and leg ulsers taken both internally and rubbed on the skin. amazing honey. I remember there was an article about it in the paper last year which I kept somewhere.I'll see if there's anymore info in that.
It really is expensive the umf 5 around 10 euros and the umf 20 is 40 euros, but it is so precious & powerful, potent. It is definitely worth the expense. I would love to find out more about that honey and how it's created.
It tastes great too.You can tell it's pure &special.Exceptional quality.
I am going to bring my son to see the Bee movie this week, have you seen it yet? so I might be more precious about honey after that.

Umm, I think I will get myself some of that honey……….. looks good.
Just thinking about honey some more. I’m sure I read that honey should not be heated? It should not be cooked with? I googled and found nothing….i must have imagined it, so ignore that last comment.
I took my little girl to see “Enchanted” which was pretty good. Also saw James and the giant peach at the theatre and Aladdin at the theatre too. Christmas Panto’s….got to be done but very hit and miss, this year was good.
