Well for me, I seem to be doing ok with what I've got (cerec porcelain). But it is very expensive. It does depend on what you are willing (or able) to spend.

Otherwise, you might be wise to get a serum test done (Clifford testing lab in US) http://www.ccrlab.com./ Which tests your blood serum against just about every known dental material. You can find out from your dentist what dental materials he/she uses (as well as bonding and lining) to make sure those materials are part of the ones the clifford lab test.

The serum test will show you which materials are suitable or not suitable according to the results. Any reactivity will usually show a reaction in the blood serum.

Other testing can include EAV (voll testing), muscle testing etc. They can be included if you want to narrow things down even further. You can get contradictions, but usually certain materials should turn out ok in all or most tests.

You can also do a oral test, by getting a hardened sample/s of the materials and put them in your mouth for a few hours each day to test for any reactions.

So there are different ways of testing. The more the better I think. Cerec porcelain is apparently one of the most biocompatible materials they've been able to create. It is not quite like the old style porcelain, does not contain any metal base, less tooth structure needs to be removed and it lasts for almost up to a lifetime. Very similar to enamel.

You can look it up online. It does not tend to leach out its components either. I am pretty chemically sensitive and so far am noticing no reactions, which is what I hear from people who get it. Two people I know noticed no problems with it. Hopefully that will last!

The guy who runs the blood serum testing lab in US, says cerec so far has shown no adverse responses on any serum test and they are even thinking about removing it from testing, because of this.

Again, everybody is different, so there are no guarantees with ANY dental material. The best you can do is find one that seems to be the least reactive with you in most tests.

If you were interested in getting cerec, you would need to find a dentist that is experienced in using this material, rather than a dentist that is quite new with it and may not do the best job. It is too expensive to mess around with. More dentists are taking it onboard and so far its proving to be an excellent alternative.

I am not only chemically sensitive, but metal sensitive, so I'm a difficult patient! The bonding and lining materials I got were - variolink II and heliobond. The cerec was (cerec 3 vita mark II). But there are different bonding and linings used with cerec. It's a wise move to get testing done beforehand in my opinion, even just for the bonding and lining materials.

I personally relied more on the serum test results than anything else. I felt it was a good foundation to go from and any further testing was just supplementary!

No problem Teljkon. Feel free to ask anything, I have been there and done that you could say (in this area) and gone through a lot of painful mistakes in the process...hoping perhaps I might aid someone in avoiding the same!

The more thorough and careful, the better the outcome and all my rushing in cost me greatly and having to do things over again because I didn't bother taking my time and getting right the first time.
