I have read a lot about mercury binding tightly to the hypothalamus and pituitary and inhibiting their action. The hypothalamus and pituitary control every other gland in your body including the adrenals and thyroid so this can cause a lot of problems. I think that most of the mental symptoms caused by mercury poisoning are caused by the mercury which has accumulated in the hypothalamus and pituitary. I read posts to either the autism-mercury or frequent dose chelation yahoo groups where Andy Cutler talked about the mercury inhibition of the hypothalamus and pituitary and the problems it can cause.
Personally I have had bad adrenal fatigue symptoms for many years and glandulars have done nothing to help. I know my hypoadrenal symptoms are being caused by inadequate stimulation from the hypothalamus and/or pituitary glands. I recently started on Andy's protocol so we'll see what happens.
