Well, as luck would have it I ended up in E.R. two days ago due to some blood in my stool. I was driving back home from work and started feeling really messed up, i.e. I was driving on a street that I take home every single day and I started feeling the taste of blood in my mouth. Instantly I linked the bloody stool with some internal bleeding. I tried to stay calm, but then I got the shakes and what now started to feel like my old mercury symptoms. I called my husband but where he asked me where on the road I was all of a sudden I got so confused, I looked around and could not recongnize anything around me. And, mind you, this is the road that I take EVERY day to work. So, finally I pulled over. I was taken to emergency where they confirmed there was some blood on the anus, and was let home. They told me that I need to do the colonoscopy, but now I am just thinking that whatever happend was mecrury as I have now been detoxing ever since that happend. Has anyone had anything similar happen to them?
I am tired of tests and doctors, and don't want to put myself through any more pain. Can mercury cause internal bleeding to the digestive system? Once again, I don't know what to do. I'm freaked out and really sick of this. I think I was doing much better last year...I don't know why I am downhill again...

Oh great, a totally embarassing topic to write about! I just went through a similar experience. Since I did, and it went OK, maybe it might help to post this.
I had similar problems for some time which I eventually and reluctantly addressed. It's not so bad if they knock you out. One moment you are aware, then you are out like a light, and then you wake up and say "What happened?"
I still wonder if mercury can cause bleeding, but my colonoscopy yielded no problems according to the doctor. Although I do have diverticulosis, which is small pockets, but not inflamed, and does not seem to be a problem like diverticulitus.
If the blood is bright red, it is likely to be hemorrhoids. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eeew.gif" alt="" /> Hope this helps Nina.

as mentioned before bright colored stools indicate hemorrhoids or some thing close to the rectum , but internal bleeding is usually indicated by darkish to black colored stools ( if taking charcoal suppliments then black stools are normal) but otherwise internal bleeding problems

TW,
Are you taking anything for this?
Since it only happend once to me I am really not that ready to go and do it especially since I highly doubt they will put me under.
Thanks for your input.

Hey Nina:
Don't really take anything for it, really have not had symptoms they speak of like cramping, bloating or abdominal pain. Instructions included things like resting when symptomatic, drinking extra liquids (non-caffeine), eating a well balanced diet high in fiber, and low in salt and fat, including whole grains, bran, and fresh fruit and vegetables. Try to have a bowel movement same time each day, and if you have abdominal pain, place a heating pad or warm washcloth over abdomen. And do not use laxatives unless OK with your doctor (I never did anyway).
Well, I eat lots of fiber, but salt and fat too as I think I need it due to mercury. This might have caused it, or the mercury?
Whatever, in your case, if this only happened once, you may want to monitor yourself over a few months, trying to be good with diet etc., and see how it goes. If it keeps up, then go in. Just my opinion, of course. It does say call your doctor if you have a fever, increased pain, bowel movements black or bright red, or nausea and swelling in your abdomen.
Hope it all goes well for you. I will tell you I felt relief after it was over knowing I did not show any huge problems.
