NEXT MONTH I AM HAVING MY FILLINGS REMOVED AND I WAS WONDERING ABOUT DETOXING. I HAVE READ ALOT ABOUT DMPS, ISN'T THIS ONLY GIVEN FROM A DOCTOR AND ALSO IS THERE ALTERNATIVES TO GOING THOUGH THE DOCTORS TO DETOX. RIGHT NOW MY DOCTOR SAYS THAT I DO NOT HAVE A MERCURY PROBLEM BUT FROM MY SYMPTOMS AND THIS FORUM I TRULY BELIEVE THAT I AM SUFFERING FROM MERCURY POISONING. WHAT DO YOU DO IF YOUR DOCTOR SAYS EVERYTHING IS FINE AND CAN'T GET ANY HELP FROM THEM? I WOULD PREFER TO DETOX MYSELF SLOWLY BECAUSE MY JOB IS VERY PHYSICAL AND I HAVE TO KEEP WORKING. ANY HELP HERE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

For what it's worth, my doctor doesn't think I have mercury problem either. I also believe I do, though, from what I have read here and other places.
I don't know much at all about detox. From what I have read, it's important to becareful. I heard that some methods can cause cancer.
I'm going to do it slow and easy, but whether that is the right thing to do, I don't know.

PS, I think you can do it without a doctor. I'm going to anyway, because I don't have anyone to help me. Various dentists have detox programs, but I'm a bit wary of them.
From what I do understand, we need something like algin to bind to the mercury, and we need something gentle to release the mercury from our bodies, but not more than what we can get rid of.
Once my fillings are out, I'm going to start with vit c, vit e, alginate. To get the mercury out, I'm going to take food with sulpher, and then at some point take some ALA.
Again, I haven't a clue if this is going to be the right thing to do, and I'm sure Russ or Laura can point out some errors here.

You do not need a doctor to go through mercury chelation. The best advice I can give you is to buy the book Amalgam Illness, Diagnosis and Treatment by Andy Cutler, PHD. He gives extensive information on how to do chelation safely and properly, which you can do yourself since you can now buy oral DMPS and oral DMSA along with lipoic acid over the internet. If you use his book, you will do just fine on your own. Many chelation doctors have messed people up pretty bad with things like DMPS injections and improper dosing protocols with oral chelating agents.

I agree with Sandra, Dr. Cutler's book is the best reference overall that we've found on what mercury poisoning is, how it affects the body, and what to do (and not do) about getting the mercury out. In case anyone missed our earlier post, we have some of Dr. Cutler's books ( Amalgam Illness: Diagnosis & Treatment)) available at a discount while they last. These books were "slightly" damaged during shipment, but they are perfectly usable and readable...the covers were torn just a little on the edge of the spine, but other than that, they're fine. We're selling them for $27 so you save $8 off the cover price.

Bill,
Please do a search and read the info on this forum concerning detox carefully. Some fare it well, others don't. Either way, you have to keep an eye on your body and your symptoms.
I normally recommend taking detox slow and gently to be sure to avoid as much redistribution of mercury as possible. Other's like to do it fast. Whatever you choose, please educate yourself first and be careful.
Best of luck and keep us posted.
