I just wanted to post an update on Sandi for everyone. For those of you that haven't heard, Sandi has ovarian cancer. This latest information is from another health forum and this post was dated 12/13/07. The author of the post is a close friend of Sandi's and has been in contact with her by phone.
This is REALLY, VERY upsetting news.
Sharon
-------------------------
I finally got to talk with Sandi today. She's been moved to a Hospice Center, address below:
St. Michael's Hospice 7451 Sussex Ave. Burnaby BC V5J 5C2
She told me she would love to be able to write, talk to many of her close forum buddies, but is not up to it, and asked me to send you all an update. She's in a lot of pain, her only relief is the pain meds, which makes her 'out of it' and unable to think well.
The hospital would not let her go home, she supposes they do not want her administring her own drugs, too much temptation to possibly over due them when suffering so. Therefore the Hospice Center. She said it is a beautiful place and the staff there is just wonderful!
She's hurting and going thru a lot of emotions right now. Said that St. Michael's will probably be her last residence on this earth.
Another main issue is the constipation problems. When she eats she bloats up badly and the pressure and pain of that is unbearable. She's hurting all over right now really.
I asked her prognosis.....3 weeks to 3 months.
She may get internet access in her room, I will update you on that when I get the information.

Jinx, I know. While I've known about the situation (hospice and everything) for awhile, just seeing this info in writing like this . . . well, I just can't stop weeping. Poor Sandi. It's just not fair.
She's suspected that she had ovarian cancer for a couple of years before she got diagnosed. Her doctors refused to believe her and order the necessary tests. Nine months before she finally got diagnosed, she again demanded her doctor to order tests for ovarian cancer. She could feel growths in her pelvic region and so could the doctor. The doctor just blew her off and told her that it was nothing and refused to order tests.
I'm mad as hell for her. And I'm frustrated.
So, the best we can do for her is pray that her suffering will be relieved and that she will feel peace, love and support during this horrifying time.
Sharon p.s. Sorry, I made a typo up there. Sandi had symptoms of ovarian cancer for four years prior to diagnosis -- not two years prior. The only reason she got diagnosed was that she ended up in severe pain and had horrific bloating and went to the ER. Even there they wanted to send her home and do nothing. She refused to leave the ER and demanded a CT scan and blood work. That's how she got diagnosed.

Sandi, darlin, an I know that's a word I overuse, but it's a word just made for folks like you. You've been giving out so much love an support to folks that now it's comin back at ya ten- fold. Some folks may be feelin fear and even anger for where ya are right now, that's only natural when facin the unknown. Y' all have nothin to fear. Here on earth we need bodies, much like a spaceman needs a suit on the moon. It's purely for survival on this dang planet, it sure can be a harsh environment. at times. Folks I know that have shed the body say it's like takin off a tight girdle, a course not that I EVER had ta wear one a those...
How much inspiration y'all have given us just right here in this small world, why, it's unquantifiable! Y'all are quite a gal, and always will be. Travel light darlin, it's a great adventure. Only love, an so much of it, E. If ya got time to respond, that would be great, but hope ya get this.

So sorry to hear this horrendous news. Sandi is a very special person on this forum, and made us all feel loved and welcomed, even when we were (are) desperate.
Sandi - I hope you get to read these messages. Elvis is right. The love is coming right back at you.
Thinking of and praying for you.

They need to be giving her round the clock intravenous vitamin C. Linus Pauling did some well-known studies on vitamin C and cancer, using it intravenously with terminally ill patients who had tried all other options. But I don't suppose they do that sort of thing where she is.
Still it isn't going to hurt if we all pray her her in our own ways.

I often think about Sandi. She seems to be a very positive thinking person and that counts for alot.
Maybe we could all write to her and send our letters to the above address.Someone could read them out to her when and if she feels up to it. Send as much positive messages and love and kind thoughts as you can.
She made a positive impact on alot of us here. Is that address in Vancouver where she lives? I would like to send her a card

Sunflower, the address that I pasted above is actually the address for the Hospice center where Sandi is right now. So it's not her home address. But, people have been sending cards to her at this address.
Again, I have not spoken with Sandi personally. I am seeing this information second hand. As I said, though, the source for this information is solid due to how close she is with Sandi. I haven't dared call Sandi myself because I didn't want to interrupt or intrude.
I'm told that, naturally, Sandi is having good days and bad days. On her better days she looks ahead and thinks about all the things she'd like to do for healing at home. She wants to try the Hocksey herbal treatment and she misses a healthy, therapeutic diet so very much. The hospital food has made her ill.
On her bad days, well . . . I think we can only imagine what they must be like.
I'll let you all know when I hear anything further.
Just in case Sandi does get some help with using a computer in her room and feels up to looking at the forums I'll put this in all caps because pain medications cause blurred vision:
SANDI WE LOVE YOU AND MISS YOU! HEALING THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS HAVE BEEN FLOWING FOR YOU, CUTIE.
Love, SomedaySoon (Sharon)
p.s. The last time I was in contact with Sandi she had asked for prayers.
I just wish we could all hop in a plane and arrive at her hospice room with arms full of her favorite homemade organic healing meals. I'd also love to sneak in all the herbs, supplements and such for her. Mostly, I wish we could all just be there for her and tell her in person how much she means to us.

I am so sad to hear this. I was hoping we would see a big turn around. She is such a trooper and a fighter, it's just not fair. Thanks for posting the address, at least I can send her a card. I am still praying for a big miracle for her. May God be with her.

Sandy ,we love you! I just said another prayer for you after reading this. I feel like someone kicked me in the gut and I want to cry. I feel much anger for your Jack- doctor who brushed you aside when you came to him 4 years ago with your suspicions. I know that when your time comes to pass on, that your soul will still be alive, and that you will still be able to do good for others, even on the beyond-- maybe even more so than in the body. I'm still praying for ya, Sandy, and am even going to attempt Distance Reiki for your pain. Hugs and Love Boldy
