If anyone has information or experience with Chorella I would love to hear it.

I'm trying to figure out what, if anything, it does with Mercury. I've seen only one "study" where they said they gave subjects chlorella and did not find any increase in Mercury excretion.

Everyone selling the stuff says it binds to Mercury., Dr. Klienghart? says it binds irreversibly to Mercury in the digestive tract and keeps going out the door. If that was true taking it should be an easy slam dunk to lower Mercury.

I've had CFS for over 4 years and recently tried Chlorella. At first it was good, then great. I had about half a day that I felt almost completely cured. It was wonderful. I was taking about 4g at lunch time. I would feel worse about 30 minutes after taking the stuff and better the next day.

Then it turned on me. My anxiety was once again through the roof like it was in the early days and my Adrenals felt like they had been completely drained. I felt like all the progress I've made in the last three years was wiped out in a few days.

Taking GABA, Valerian and Taurine helped some with the anxiety. On the 4th day or so I took Magnesium Glycinate in the morning upon awakening and that seemed to cure the last of the anxiety (thank GOD!).

But my adrenals are still drained. I'm been shutting down a couple of hours after lunch. I'm now taking buffered C, Maca, B5, B6, Folcin and B12 to try to repair. It is helping but, of course, slowly as the adrenals cannot be rushed. I'm reluctant to try licorice or Glandulars as they seem to stress the adrenals more. I've read great things about Maca.

Anyway, I felt VERY good then VERY bad. I've read that Andy Cutler seems to think that Chlorella moves Mercury around. That must be from experience because I couldn't find any more proof that it moved Mercury than those who say it binds and removes Merury. But that reasoning could explain what happened to me. The Chlorella pulled Mercury from the tissue, I felt better and the Mercury (someof it) ended up settling in my Adrenals (which some think is the cause of Adrenal Fatigue). In fact Mercury moving around and resettling could explain the very dynamic nature of this disease. One hour you feel great the next you're in hell.

Anyway please let me know your experience and your conclusions.

Yes, I tried and Chorella by itself back fired on me in about 5 days. You do feel good the first few days because I think your pumping additional adrenaline ! But that does not last long, for our adrenals are pretty burned out as it is.

But I can say that I am way way better - kind of stummbled onto the program one morning. I definately believe that getting your body stronger before mercury chelation is very important or you will keep going into crisis.

I bought some krill oil and natural vitamin c powder - with acerola cherry and other berries, and some beta glucan - Fruits of Life by Garden of Life. In about 5 days noticed was feeling 30% better or so.
http://www.mercola.com/products/krill_oil.htm
http://www.gardenoflifeusa.com/detail_fruit_of_life.shtml

This simple greens with dulse may have something to do with me not getting so cold (iodine)(thyroid) 4 scoops per day http://www.myvega.com/products/smoothie.asp

With meals take 2 digestive enzymes - plant based. Also started a powerful probiotic www.vsl3.com 1 pack a day (1/2 after breakfast and other after dinner - for 2 months and then 2 packs a day for 2 months and then 1 pack a day for another 4-8 months until digestion is fine. Constipation is gone, thank god.

But I still have a congested liver - getting little cists under the skin in leg and arm. A lot of free radicals and toxins.

In about 2 months will start zeolite and liver herb formula for 12 months. http://resultsrna.com/products/acz_nano.html
http://www.stfrancisherbfarm.com/product.aspx?ID=17&Title=Liver

If you have swollen glands/lymph - can start this right away - 1/2 dose - for 12 months if necessary http://innovativemedicine.com/products/catalog/index.php?id=pk016

sea salt - http://naturescargo.ca/tseasalts.html

pure water

filtered shower - no chlorine

breathing exercises - extremely important !!!!!
http://www.drweil.com/drw/u/id/ART00521

Once am feeling 70% better will do some homocysteine vitamin B formula

Exercise - 1 hour every 2 days - stretch daily

GOOD LUCK

I did chlorella too for about 3 months and did ok. One day it just turned on me. Was not good took me about 3 weeks to recover.

Did you switch brands perhaps? Those that say Chlorella contains Mercury could have a point if it is cultivated in a way that environmental mercury could contact the algae?

from: http://livingnetwork.co.za/healingnetwork/oral_chelation1.html

"CHLORELLA - is not a chelator as it contains only one thiol group (sulfhydryl groups). It can pick up mercury and move it around, but it does not strictly chelate it and hold onto it. This can cause a lot of oxidative damage as mercury 'bounces around'. Chelators are dithiols (they contain two sulfhydryl groups) and hold on to mercury tightly and safely. Beware of protocols using chlorella for chelation."

"Chelators are identified by the presence of two dithiol groups. Many health practitioners and doctors use compounds such as cysteine, NAC and glutathione to chelate. These are ineffective because they are not actually chelating agents as they do not contain two or more binding groups (dithiol groups). These compounds can cause redistribution of stored metals and cause problems by mobilizing them from their storage sites. This is almost like stirring up a hornets nest. The main chelators used by Andy Cutler are DMSA and DMPS (to remove mercury from the extracellular space) and later in the process ALA (to remove mercury from the intracellular space and brain)."

Thank you Kako, I've looked up a few of your links. Lot of "brand name" things. I'm pretty much a generic IHerb guy so far but have tried over 80 supplements in the last 2 years.

Yes I did I got Sun clorella and had been taking clorella by solaray. Went back to Soloray and still same reaction. On Dr Mercolas site he tells you if you start burping it you have developed an allergy to it and it will not get better. Hope that helps.

Chlorella experience? Well, let's see.

1) I took NDF+, a number of bottles, before I knew Cutler did not like it. To tell the truth, I got better using NDF+; it seemed to help me concentrate more and keep working. When I first heard of Cutler's protocol, I wanted to know why he was so against NDF, and if he even knew or believed in the use of nanonized or supersmall chlorella.

2) I took Sun Chlorella for a little while, but gave up on it. Can't remember why, but I never got sick from it.

3) I take GNC Superfoods Supreme right now, which has a bit of chlorella, probably not much, in it, and I have not gotten any reaction from it.

Maybe I am just one of those people who chlorella does not bother, but I do actually try to avoid it because lots of others say it is bad news. But I am not giving up on the Superfood Supreme yet - the amount of chlorella in there can't be very much in one small scoop, no? If I ever feel bad using any product I drop it immediately and NEVER take it again.

I read that on Mercola. But I read the exact same thing on another site (Life Extension I think). I think Mercola has hijacked most of the content on his site from other sites. I'm not a big fan of his he seems more opportunistic than helpful.

I agree, Mercola’s mercury detox is everything that Cutler says will screw you up.

I avoid him now.

I remember my experience with chlorella when I took it in my early stages of mercury poisoning (amalgams had been removed). I ended up on the floor between the bed and wall screaming and salivating......is that a safe reaction of a good detox product?

Admittedly I probably had mercury all over teh place inside of me that it was probably very easily disrupted further, but this to me is an inexcusable reaction and very concerning. A healthy product maybe in itself, but a big risks when it comes to mercury in my opinion.

I cannot blame chlorella for it all either, I had similar reactions to other products and I guess part of detoxing is pain. But I wonder how much pain is necessary? Or is it just me? Perhaps my system could not do it any other way, but certainly Andy's was the only one that enabled these bizzare reactions of mine to be more controlled.

In fact, even one isolated capsule of DMSA (not taken andy style) would do much the same. I could be up all night crying, screaming, salivating . Total insanity and agony. I'm surprised I was not taken away to be honest, but the person living with me knew my toxicity pretty well and saw me when I wasn't undergoing these reactions.

Mercola says chlorella takes 3 to 6 months to actually remove the mercury !!!

can someone tell me how this compares to other products

EDIT : I just read you felt bad after taking chlorella, but I think you should still take it as compared to a Mcdonalds, that would also make you feel worse wouldnt it ? But the chlorella is a lot healthier.

However, one shouldnt take much of it when starting. Ive read reports of people who had hepatotoxicity from taking spirulina which is similar to chlorella, and his hepatotoxicity stopped after taking the spirulina. So it may be a case of not taking too much to avoid something like that.

EDIT:: Ive just remembered, there was a website that used to be on the internet all about chlorella testimonials but it was taken down about 6 months ago, and it had about 50 stories of how chlorella changed peoples live, and only one was about mercury poisoning. I think it was taken down for legal reasons or it may have been fake, i dont know, but i still remember it quite well. for example a woman with social anxiety who didnt leave her house in 10 years suddenly started taking chlorella and left her house, stuff like that.

I must say Dr Mercola’s mercury detox is a pile of $hit. Sorry to swear but sometimes it has to be done. A PILE OF $HIT!

His mercury detox is …………… the worst I have ever seen.

http://www.mercola.com/article/mercury/detox_protocol.htm

The first thing doctors are supposed to is “Do no Harm” and I’m sorry this detox plan fails left, right and centre.

Chlorella he recommends. He also goes on to say 30pct of people can’t tolerate chlorella. 30pct – that is huge! I don’t know where he gets his numbers but 30pct is a lot of people.

Garlic or msm

Cilantro

Start Monthly DMPS Injections, Suppositories or Transdermal

Seriously, if dr mercola spent 10 minutes a day reading these mercury forums he would know the trouble these things can cause to lots and lots of people. This forum alone is littered with the damage these things cause.

Sure some people can take some of these things, but if you discover you cannot…… it hurts like hell! I speak from painful experience.

I am hardly a mercury expert myself, but I know what I see and I know what I read and I read lots of people suffering and getting hurt when they do the things he blindly recommends on his protocol.

Avoid him and his detox plan.

Andy Cutler makes much more sense.

I have to agree. I did those things and made myself so severely sick and sick every single day. Horrible and I don't believe it did much to eliminate mercury, rather it moved it all over the place and forced my body to try and do something with it (obviously it coud'nt do much). It also caused alot of agony for only a small amount of metal excretion at the end of it, which I don't know was worth the pain but I was willing to because I was desperate to get better.
It was similar to repoisoning due to so much redistribution of the metals. I was a screaming mess and this was the same with just about any other protocol, until I used Andy Cutler's and for the first I realised that this protocol had been tried and tested/studied and that the other stuff was almost dangerous (at least to me it was).

Some people do no matter what they take, they do really well and that's great. But for many of us? Mercola type protocols are disastrous and possibly dangerous. I cannot even take a DMSA pill in isolation, I HAVE to take it every 4 hours as andy suggests to lessen the side effects more.

I admire him for actually studying and thinking all this through and using it on himself first and understanding the way mercury works and moves.

I'd like to get some replies about what mercury detox feels like. For example, I took chlorella for a few days. About 2 hours after I took it I felt crummy, listless, lack of energy (took at lunch). The next day I felt pretty good. One day I felt amazing until lunch time came and I took another dose.

I took a selenium cap yesterday and felt similar to the chlorella. I know selenium binds heavily to mercury. I felt a little better this morning

Should I be cycling X days on, Y Days off and should I be careful to NOT take anything mercury binding for the "Y" days?

Is it normal to fell crummy from the chelating agent? If the mercury is binded shouldn't that stop it from doing harm?

Hi Shawn, it is normal to feel cr*ppy during mercury detox, no matter how "safe" the product. And it's a sign things are happening, but when it reaches a point where the symptoms are insane, then stop. I often pushed myself to continue or I would repeat it again later, even after so much agony.

I feel now this was quite wrong, because damage could have been done to me during this. But at that stage, I didn't know how else to go about it, until I discovered andy's protocol which suited me much better.

Chlorella doesn't bind to mercury that strongly, it mobilises it. In moving it around, it can make you feel sick. Some of it may come out during this though, which maybe why you feel a little better again later. But for some people the mobilising causes far too many horrible symptoms and usually they need to do something else.

You maybe ok with chlorella, it may not tip you over the edge. Andy doesn't recommend it at all, he feels people should stay away from it. But again it's individual and some people do ok on it and reckon it's detoxed their mercury.

It definitely does do something because when I used to use it, though sometimes I'd go almost insane, it would move mercury for sure and some of it obviousy did come out over time. But again at what cost?

I don't believe it absorbs mercury as much as it moves it around. So that will be why your symptoms feel worse.

Selenium, apparenty competes with mercury binding sites and can displace mercury which might also cause a redistribution. During that, some of the mercury "may" come out, but it also helps protect you against mercury and is a good powerful antioxidant. I would recommend selenium personally as part of any protocol for mercury. I think it is good to take. but again NOT if it makes you TOO sick. Lower the dose if that happens or stop if you cannot tolerate any of it.

I used to find the most helpful and powerful vitamins were simply vitamin C, vitamin E and selenium. Additions to that may help, but they were the ones I mostly stuck to in that area.

I found that detox symptoms with mercury could fluctuate and sometimes were extremely intense. Symptoms for me could be any of the following or all of them - crying, salivating, rashes, nausea, muscle aches, exhaustion, metal taste, metal smell, feeling just yuck (I can't explain it), basically all my symptoms would intensify, depression, anxiety, brain fog, drugged feeling, swollen tongue, etc.

I think you can take selenium permanently if you feel you can handle it, or at a dose you can handle. Because it's protective. I am not sure about the chlorella, you'd have to go by how you feel. If you feel like a break? take it and for as long as you want.

It's down to how you feel. I was so poisoned with mercury at one stage, I coudl not even take much selenium or all the time. That was enough in itself to cause eruption of symptoms, probably because the mercury had already been easily accessible by a DMPS IV infection which I think moved so much mercury into more surface areas. I was VERY sick from that Injection and it forced so much mercury everywhere, that it didn't take much to stimulate further excretion!

Even vitamin C powder was enough sometimes to cause an eruption of symptoms. I think it's because they are powerful antioxidants (C, E and selenium) and increase glutathione, which aids the removal of toxins. Which is great, but not to the point where you cannot handle the symptoms.

I took breaks when I required them and took only what I could handle in the end. I learned to stop forcing myself to do what I could not handle. Even then I went over the top many times. It was such an unpredictable poison to deal with, I never knew what to expect.

I understand. When my CFS first started I had intense anxiety and usually woke up wanting to cry. I had to use drugs (Xanax, Wellbutrin, Klonopin) to just keep going. Now over 4 years later the anxiety has subsided and I no longer need to take Rx but the cr*ppyness remains. The Chlorella brought me right back to when I first started with the intense anxiety.

I THINK it might be because the mercury may have mobilized to the adrenals and maybe thyroid. If you check the literature you'll see that of the few actual diseases doctors recognize that cause anxiety involve adrenal and thyroid. Mercury has a strong affinity for those two glands I've read.

Have you read the theories in Autism that involve methylation and glutathione?

wow, ive been looking for that site for months !!! i thought it was taken down, thanks a lot for finding it, even if some of the stories may be a little exaggerated

How did you actually find it ??

Anyway, Dr Mercola has spoken a lot about mercury casuing autism, and mercola has written how he cured or helped autism a lot with chlorella and other things.

http://www.mercola.com/2004/apr/24/autism_recovery.htm

people who said it was painful what was happeneing to them, what did they actually eat instead of healthy foods ?? Detox is going to be very painful for some people, and it probably was mercury redistributing since chlorella takes 3 months of every day taking to start to remove mercury, and I doubt anyone here took it everyday for 3 months.
