i just wanted to see how mercury, copper, etc affected peoples personalities.

since having this forever, my personality i believe has always been altered by copper and probably some mercury too. i've always been extremely fearful and sad. i was wondering if anyone else felt hostile in their minds and resentful towards people? judgemental also. i've always had resentments and i don't want that. i think its from frustration or something because ive always felt i had no control. when i was as young as five all through growing up i had severe OCD symptoms.

also, i have always felt codependent and emotionally unstable. detatched and in a dream and fantasy world. all in my thoughts but no energy. can any of you relate to any of this? how do you guys think the metals have affected your personality?

one of my friends from school called me and he wants to hang out or whatever. he was at a bar with some people i know. thinking about it got me more depressed because for so long now i have isolated myself because i am too sick to be with people. i'm not happy like i'm supposed to and i feel all self-concious all the time. that is another thing i wanted to know if people feel with metals is self-concious a lot?

anyways, basically i hang out with no one. on occasion me and another friend will go out and eat and watch a movie. but that's it. i mean, that is no life at all. the rest of the time i am here alone and have been for like three years now trying to get disability so i can work on myself. i finally have a hearing 18 of this month.

looking at my life and situation, if i don't get well, i will never have a life. never feel or be who i really am. disconnected from the world. it's scary and it creates pressure on myself.

but i just got real depressed because i can't do the things i want and never have been comfortable in my own skin although i know i should be. thinking about being around people creates stress in me. just thinking about it.

anyone relate?

I can tell you when I was younger I was real easy going and was never afraid to ask anybody anything. I used to love to go to the mall and places where there was alot of crowds. Now I hate things like that because of the crowds. Over the years I had become someone totally different then who I was as a kid. I believe all of that was distorted too even as a child. I was always slow when I was little and very shy when I was young. Well only reason I was slow was because my legs arms and hands would not do what I wanted them to. When I went to college at the age of 26 I learned how to be assertive and have lost that over these last 10 years.
I could never go play in the snow when I was a kid it was too cold and if I did I would ache and hurt for days. I also had a really good memory when I was little and over the years that has gone. But I have made some progress in the past 8 months. I just made a new post earlier on my progress and I am so pleased with what is happening. I have not even started on the big stuff like DMSA, I have been using my sulfer foods and supplements. I tolerate the sulfer foods well but was raised on it so I think it is something my body is familiar with and likes. Anyways I agree with the metals the personality thing, really messes everything up. Hang in there Shawn and I will be praying for your disability to come through.

In reading this, you could be typing about me, that's how much I relate to it all. Where to start? Yes, metals can do all that and more! and so can yeast, which is often the result of a metal toxic environment. Both can do it, either or both.

My life, has been spent in my mind as well. I am used to spending it there because not only have I always had an overactive imagination, but since I"ve been so debiliatated, my imagination has become my life.....I hate it, yet, somehow I rely on it.

The idea of someone coming to my house, or me being invited out can cause anxiety just considering it. I have profound fear of this and anythign like it, so like yourself, spend most of the time in my room. Yet, i have had flashes of what I "could" be like and it's quite tragic to know that underneath I am not a fearful person and would otherwise enjoy a normal life.

I can say almost immediately I had braces placed on my teeth, the personality changed. I have always been shy, which may have been me or mercury from an early age, but the braces was the clincher. So from there, all tendencies became pronounced to the extreme. It only took the extra metal to take such a toll. And I became a fearful, pale, withdrawn mess who suddenly hated going anywhere, preferred to hide away, hated the sunlight, and developed strange OCD tendencies. Zero self esteem, awful skin, inability to gain weight or develop properly. So I really felt like a complete outcast.

Though the braces were removed, I never bounced back and was seriously mercury toxic from then on. Though not having braces was a "little" better, things never came right. From there it was years of pain, antidepressants, hiding away, just awful symptoms. Then got put on the candida diet and improved markedly, but again, did not cure me. Gave much relief and improved health.

But the metal toxins were the underlying factors at that time. Being overly self conscious is a big part of that. You just feel like a freak.

Yes yes and yes. This is all too familiar to me.

Shawn, we are in the same boat here. I too have NO life, I have isolated myself, my friends have stopped calling me because they know that I cant go with them - I'm too fatigued, anxious, depressed and all that. I cant try to pretend to be happy when I am not. Sometimes I see a friend for a brief time but I'm usually very anxious at the same time and dont enjoy the company. I prefer to be by myself and watch some movie clips on the internet, thats pretty much all i can do these days.

Reading these posts, it sounds a lot like my story as well! Except my self seclusion started at a later age. I really think what is happening here is we all become reclusive when our adrenals, and thyroid get affected. My guess based on reading articles on the adrenals. Note what that Doctor Rind wrote about OCD (like double and triple checking locked doors, etc.) getting better when adrenals are healed.

This is not you! or your personality! I can't really say this and be 100% positive, but it is highly likely that everyone of us has toxic overload of certain systems that set you into a pattern of feeling sick and anxious, thereby avoiding other people. Think about it! That's why it was referred to as "Mad Hatter's Disease" - people making felt hats were exposed to mercury in the process, becoming a bit unbalanced, and exhibiting strange behavior.

The good news? I think it can be beat. In my case, I am able to once again do things that I could not a couple years ago. I have done about 40 rounds of chelation. But I stopped 12 weeks ago, and I think I am even better. Will I chelate more? Maybe - I am thinking about it. But my thought is that sometimes a break by going the natural route will let your adrenals heal more.

tumbleweed,

thats great news that you are much better! it gives me hope. i checked into chelation and no regular M.D.s do it around here. the people that do it cost 300 bucks a visit plus probably the chelation and tests etc. my medicaide will not pay for this so i have no idea what to do with that and i think its something i need.

my adrenals have been burned out forever. when i was 5 years old i had extreme ocd. i would pray the same prayer over and over and over. check the doors like 10 times and it still wouldn't feel right. i still have this where i have to check things in my mind. like asking the same questions over and over. with my last girlfriend and other girlfriends i was ocd and i think it drove them away. i would always ask questions until it "felt" right in my mind. its' really hurt my self-esteem and i don't think that is the real me. the last girl i knew i was ocd and aware of what i was doing yet i felt out of control and the thoughts kept popping in and if i didn't ask what i was thinking about, i would get even more anxiety. it was horrible! it made me feel really bad and like such a loser.

i just hope i can overcome it. and i believe you are right though about everything. if i can detox metals, i believe my thyroid and adrenals will get better and that stuff will go away.

Keep reading these posts to educate yourself, and would highly recommend you buy the Amalgam Illness book by Andy Cutler shown at the top of this forum (yellow book with Mercury listed beneath it). This will show you what is considered the safest way to chelate, and give you a lot of ideas on supplements. No need to hire someone else - ALA is cheap, and DMSA is affordable. But read the book and do it safely, using low, frequent dosages.

Hope this helps,

same here, story of my life. truth is I never really was happy or myself because of this metals/canddia censored (sorry for the language but I have to call it that way after all the suffering it has given me).

What is most disturbing to me guys about these issues is that my whole life EVERY DAY I felt DIFFERENT, every day felt different from the day before in terms of pscyholgoical wellbeing. It's like everyday your brain was in a slightly different mode, diferent connections working, and everyday you were another version of yourself - A,B, C ,D, AB, BA, DA etc. This also pertains to cognitive functions as well. Really hard to grow as a person with it. Anybody else got that as well?

jinx,

i definitely have had the same problems man. in fact, i was thinking about that today how i have never been a stable person and am stuck dealing with the same emotional issues i've always had. it's like i haven't moved passed them or been able to cope even though i am aware of the issues. everyday i may be a different person. you're right about it's impossible to really grow as a person and i think its because we are so altered.

hey shawn you're right but I was not just talking about emotional stuff, just an overall brain chemistry with perspective and outlook changing everyday but emotions not necessarily going overboard.

jinx,

i understand what you are saying and i just didn't articulate myself very well. i think you are referring to just overall cognitive malfunction and if so, i definitely have that and had it most my life. everyday, i am different and my perspective changes like you say. emotions are also involved and i guess its hard for me to discern the difference between brain process emotions etc. it's like i have always had an identity problem and until my cognition improves, i can't have stable mind, body, and spirit that i want made in myself if that makes any sense. like i'll always be up down and all around with emotions, perspective, and everything.

If anybody just saw you guys (Jinx and Shawn), you'd honestly never guess. I just see two young attractive people who physically defy what's going on underneath and that's what makes it so tragic. This is the problem wtih mercury, though a person can look unwell and pale with it, that's about as far as it gets. You walk around internally handicapped and being judged because externally you look just "fine".

I had a lot of judgements because of that, though people would remark on how pale I was, but apart from that? Nothing else really gave it away aside from my withdrawn and at times erratic and strange moods and behaviours.

It's inexcusable that this should happen to anybody because it need not happen. It was banned I think in the 1800s? Someone can correct me on that if they wish, but they re-introduced it again later on, having full awareness that they were putting the most poisonous metal known to man right under his/her nose. This is a case of mass (but slow) poisoning and because of its insidiousness and difficulty pinpointing, many people suffer but have no idea why.

Hi ...your symptoms sound very simular to something called Pyroluria... below is a link to the symptoms. I'm just figuring out that copper has been my problem with my illnesses but also a zinc and B6 deficiency has been a problem too. I have alot to learn about this... the first thing I found tho was about pyroluria.

Hey,

I started treating myself for pyroluria about a month ago. At first the B6 was causing my personality to drop flat but after a few days it was great. One thing I noticed is that I started remembering my dreams much more than before. Sleep had become much more enjoyable in just a week or so. The treatment is B6, zinc, magnesium and manganese. Carl Pfeiffer poineered the treatment.

In a book called 'diet, delinquency and crime' the author talks about metal from fish and how they affect the pesonality. However the author never mentioned mercury fillings, maybe because the book is very old and they didnt know about it then.

basically one of the articles in the book was of a boy who ate fish from his local sea and became inccreasingly aggressive over the years, and when tested they found he had high levels of metals in his blood etc.
