Hi Shawn, I'm just new to the site too, and just starting on the journey. I am 60, and just look back at how much of my life could have been different. Even with a rapid cure, my time is limited to create a whole new career. So please don't put it off.
I too am unable to work now, and looking at different treatment options which may be very expensive. You will only be able to progress as fast as your money will take you. So start with what you can control. . . . your food.
Buy good quality fresh vegetables. If you are able to grow a few vegetables yourself, this can be a saving. Many vegetables can be grown in pots indoors, so you don't even need to go outside! Go to the health food shop and ask what sort of things you should be eating.
Then go to your library and look at some of the recipe books they have.
Stir-fry vegetables are quick and easy, and can be spiced up or flavoured a bit to suit your taste. Ask around for peoples' favourite recipes.
Don't be scared to play around with vegetables. Try different combinations, until you work out what you like or don't like. Garlic is always good to add, and you don't need to add so much that you can't taste anything else.
Grow your own bean sprouts. They are high in protein. You don't need a special sprouter. Get a large jam jar. add a level tablespoon of unsprouted beans. Cover top with any fabric which will allow water to strain through it without losing the seeds. A piece of an old CLEAN teatowel works well. Fasten to top of jar with string or an elastic band. Half fill jar with cold water and leave about 8 hours. Then drain. After this, twice a day, fill jar to half-way with cold water, rinse sprouts round gently, then empty water out through cloth. Once sprouts are big enough, remove top, empty sprouts into bowl of water and rinse well. Shake surplus water off and keep in fridge in airtight container, or sealed plastic bag. Sound complicated but once you have done it you will see that it is not really. This is really cheap healthy food, high in vegetable protein. Try small amounts of all the different ones available. Alfalfa, and mung beans are good to start with.
If you re-use your cloth cover, it is wise to boil it for 10 minutes to kill any bacteria.
Bean sprouts can be used with salads or stir fries.
You may not feellike eating much just now, but if you stop thinking of it as food, and think of it as medicine instead, which is going to help you get better, you might manage to keep trying. . . . . . . . . just small amounts at a time. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yourmedicine.gif" alt="" />
Good luck.
And don't get discouraged if you do something "naughty". We are all human. Put it down to experience, and start again tomorrow.
