HI Stuart, yes I have heard of other dental materials having potential for causing allergies/toxicity....I do not know how serious it is. But I do know that a mercury toxic system can cause severe chemical sensitivity, so it's a hard situation.
Do you mind me asking what kind of detox/chelation you took during the 4 years? Because that can be a big issue. Sometimes you take stuff to 'detox" mercury, and often it seeks only to mobiise it, rather than truly chelate it out of you. I would suggest trying the Andy Cutler protocol and seeing if you note any improvements, as that is what finally got me well from this condition.
Good move to get tested on your replacement materials! Because this might well be a problem. You may have petrochemical sensitivity and that could be causing an ongoing immune response and frustrating your body's abiity to eliminate or heal from mercury. But also, if you are still mercury poisoned, that can cause multiple chemical sensitivity. So it can be a two edged sword.
I dont really know the answers, but just throwing some suggestions out there to you. I have been down this road and you feel like you're going crazy trying to figure out what is causing what. Swollen tongue for me was mercury! I also had the indentations in the tongue because of the teeth resting on it (from being so swollen).
I had salivating also, so bad I used to hang my head over a bowl. This too can be classic mercury poisoning. But that is not to say that something else is going on here too or even outside of the mercury...
I am actually getting my own composites replaced with cerec porcelain (ceramic), as I am trying to limit my exposure to plastics in case this is a problem for me. Though I had previously improved years ago after amalgams removal from years of proper chelation, I got ill again from a severe viral infection which has left me permanently sick. So these days I'm trying to find ways to limit any possible problem and load on my immunity. And hoping that with more biocompatible dental materials, that might be at least "one" avenue.
Next is possible cavitations surgery if I can get that done (jawbone infection after wisdom tooth removal). The symptoms from cavitations can actually be worse than mercury. So people who get suspiciously ill after tooth removal, might need to look into that.
at any rate, I'm very sorry to hear of what you are going through. Is there anyway you can find out what materials were put in your teeth? The dentists are all supposed to keep a file or records and should have this information. This means the names of the composites, the bonding and lining that was used in each tooth.
It's a painful process and your concerns and investigating are understandable and wise. I would do what your're doing and get the materials tested. I'd find out what they are exactly. I would also get a serum compatibility test (e.g. clifford lab in US) which tests your blood serum against just about every known dental material. I would get on a well tested and successful mercury chelation protocol at the sametime (if you can). If you find out that your existing materials are posing a problem, then you hopefully can gain from your tests other materials that do not show such a reaction and can look at having things redone at some point.
I would also look into candida, as this can worsen symptoms in anybody toxic. Yeast overgrows inside the body as a result of toxicity/immune problems. By elminating sugars in your diet, gluten grains etc, you can gain some symptom improvement once the excess yeast dies off.
I hope you can get to the bottom of this!
