Hi I am new to this forum. I have a question for anyone who might be able to help. I have been having some of the weirdest things happening to me over the past 8 years that are getting worse. It all started with dizzy off balance feelings and over the last 3 or 4 years has progressed to panic attacks, muscle pain and cramping, muscle twitching all over my body pressure behind my nose and nasal passages, loss of short term memory, hot spots all over but mainly in my neck, shoulder area, and head, fatigue, fells like I can't get enough air when I breath, feeling like I am in kind of a dream state, not really happening type thing. Well besides some other symptoms I found your forum and some others and I really believe that I am suffering from mercury poisoning. I have been to the doctor many times and they cannot find any definate answers. They did all kind or tests for the dizzy spells including an MRI. I went to the emergency room on 3 occasions for the panic attaks which I followed up with my primary doc. She sent me to a shrink. He diagnosed me with panic disorder. I have 3 very large silver fillings and a crown with a metal back. I had my doc draw blood and test my mercury levels. I just got the results today and she said my results were negative. She said I tested at a 10 and 50 was considerd a problem. Could I still be suffering form mercury poisoning with these test results.

Bill. All your symptoms point to mercury. Unfortunately, to have blood test interpreted correcly, you need to go to a Doctor or specialist who is familiar with mercury poisoning and who knows what tests to give and how to interpret them. Standard hospital tests are currently almost useless. The right doctor or practitioner makes all the difference in the world. If you cannot find a Doctor or want to education yourself on this issue so you can take control of this illness, I highly recommend the best book I've ever found on the subject: Amalgam Illness: Diagnosis and Treatment This book is written so anyone can understand it, yet, it's deep enough to give to your Doctor. So if you cannot find a specialist who's well versed in the mercury issue, loan this book to your Doctor and it will guide him in giving you the right tests and then interpreting them correctly. Your symptoms are all very common and well known mercury symptoms and the fact that you have the fillings gives you all the more reason to suspect mercury. I know it's hard for some to believe that the hospital tests are usless but it's those who do believe it that end up recovering from their illnesses. I've seen it again and again. Those who continually believe the Doctors they see will have one diagnosis after another: IBS, CFS, fibromyalgia, panic attacks, bipolar disorder, depression, heart atrial fibrillation, etc., etc. Best of luck and please keep us posted on your progress. PS - If you haven't already, please take a moment to read my mercury story. It's quite detailed and you may see yourself in it: My Mercury Amalgam Story

Hi Bill.
I haven't had any kind of mercury test, but I think I have poisoning. The timing and the symptoms make sense. I never had anxiety disorder until I started having fillings, and after that it was one thing after another, which are all said to be symptoms i.e. sinusitis, hypersensitive skin, migraine, rhinitis, noise in ears, compulsion to blink, muscle pains, shakes, night sweats, memory loss, hard to concentrate. Also I have fertility problems that the doctors can give me no answers for, but I heard ovaries are very sensistive to mercury, so that could be the answer.
I don't trust our medical profession to give honest answers so I'm basically taking this into my own hands. I'm going to get the fillings replaced by a dentist who uses all precautions etc and then I'm going on gentle detox.

Sounds familiar. I don't know if I have mercury problems. I do have a nickel problem though. (Hair test) I went to a Integrative MD and he said I have adrenal fatigue. In fact I have all of your symptoms, I thought it was one of my old posts, except mine all happened recently when I lost weight intentional, you know they say heavy metals hide in fat and BAM I got it. Treating my adrenals has helped incredibly. The problem is and Russ will vouch for this is that mercury effects EVERY cell of your body. EVERY cell of your body needs thyroid and adrenal hormone. Heavy metals love glands too and basically the mercury takes the parking spot of a receptor or a a part of the gland that should be making hormone or receiving messages.

Just curious how old are you? I'm 25. Also do a little test. As Russ can vouch hypoglecmia is a major symptoms of mercury. For a day or so eat good quality foods that are not simple carbs IE pasta, rice, candy, sodas, bread etc. Eat protein (except eggs etc) have some WHOLE grains vegatables, little fruit and see what happens to your symptoms. Bet they get less. The reason is when you eat high gylcemic foods (sugar etc) your sugar sky rockets your insulin panics to drive it down, it goes too low and then you have low blood sugar your adrenals TRY to kick in but either they can't because thanks to mercury it can't get a signal or even make it if it could. The next thing you know you have really low blood sugar and your body thinks its gonna panic so here comes the adrealine and PANIC ATTACK. Its happened to me a million times. If you eat foods that don't cause the blood sugar waves then your adrenal symptoms will be less.

Also do a little test. As Russ can vouch hypoglecmia is a major symptoms of mercury. I get hyperglycemia, but I thought it was due to insulin problem - which is common in my family. My doctor says I don't have sugar problem. I don't know, though, it would help if they tested me.

I'd imagine that mercuy could effect the pancreas just the same as the adrenal glands, that is not enough insulin. The adrenals signal the liver to make glucose. to raise blood sugar. The pancreas makes insulin, lowers blood sugar each receive a hormone signal from the brain. (hypothymus I believe?)

There is a big move in medicine to blame genetics for medical issues. Doctors often point out that your mother or father had this or that disease or condition and this "puts you at risk".
Although I believe there is a genetic component to very few diseases and a genetic "influence" to a few more, this "idea" is grossly overused in an attempt to promote the concept that real cures are not available (how could they be if they're genetic) in order to manipulate people to accept the concept of life-long drug dependencies. This is called disease "management" and is very profitable for the pharmaceutical industry.
Relatives much more often than not share diseases and conditions because of similarities in behavior, thinking and eating patterns which, in part, could be blamed on genetics (which is why I used the word "influence" above) but not at all in the way it is being used in medical circles today.
I believe this recent "trend" toward blaming diseases on genetics is just the latest misinformation being used to combat the fact that huge numbers of people are discovering real health and cures via detox (which includes removing mercury-based fillings), alternative therapies and herbal/nutritional supplements.
Working in the political arena (I was not a politician) for a while and conducting a lot of research helped me realize the incredible trouble companies and organizations go through in order to manipulate peoples beliefs, which translates into manipulating peoples behavior, which translates into profits. Belief/behavior manipulation is an industry within itself.

I agree completely. Thing is, healthy people with no cavities, mean a lot of unemployed doctors and dentists and pharmacists

Thing is, healthy people with no cavities, mean a lot of unemployed doctors and dentists and pharmacists Thing is, unemployed Doctors and Dentists mean less people spending money on their health and more spending money on manufactured goods?good for the economy. Of course, everything is made in China today; thanks NAFTA and GATT "DRUG-RELATED morbidity and mortality have been estimated to cost more than $136 billion a year in the United States. These estimates are higher than the total cost of cardiovascular care or diabetes care in the United States. A major component of these costs is adverse drug reactions (ADEs). In addition, ADEs may account for up to 140,000 deaths annually in the United States."
JAMA 1997, 277(4): 301 I've seen estimates that only 5% of ADEs are reported as such (my Father is such a case and I know personally know of several others). If you run the numbers, it means that 2.8 million are dying each year from Doctor-prescribed drugs making Doctors the leading cause of death in the world today. Hmmmm........

Jason said... As Russ can vouch hypoglecmia is a major symptoms of mercury. Absolutely. The way mercury causes hypoglecmia are well-known. My hypoglecmia is nearly gone, as are: Weight gain, depression, hair loss, fatigue, constipation, candida, anxiety, insomnia, low blood sugar, immune weakness, ringing in the ears, tingling in hands and feet, constantly feeling hot or cold, grinding teeth while sleeping, shyness, fear of confrontation, depression, weak short-term memory, and much more!!

hi
yes you certainly can. if the test was just a urine test then it was a complete waste of time as the mercury vapours are bound up in the cells. to get a more accurate test you need to do the mercury provocation test which means that you do a urine sample. immediately after this you take dmsa tablets according to you weight and then after about 3 hours you do another urine sample. the dmsa pulls the mercury out of the cells into the urine and gives a much truer reading. you should be able to get this arranged through an holistic dentist as ordinary dentists do not think there is a problem with mercury. if you have dissimilar metals in you mouth then you will get a battery effect that will be pulling the mercury out of your fillings. so if you have say a gold filling next to a silver amalgam or a crown with palladium underneath you will be getting a release of mercury vapour. if you chew gum all the time or these will be releasing even more mercury as it did it my case.
hope this helps

My former employee had amalgams and had several mercury symptoms. She shewed gum constantly.
I told her to stop chewing gum and watch what happens.
The day after she stopped, all her symptoms subsided so much that she was absolutely shocked and horrified at the realization that mercury really was causing these symptoms.
Sometimes, little indicators like this can help us realize that mercury is inducing health issues.

I'm almost 30. How old were you when you first started having fillings? I was about 9 and my anxiety disorder started not long after that. Since I had a root filling put in 7 years ago, my health has got worse. I found that my anxiety levels were unbearable lately and it was only while reading here on this group that I learnt sulphur can trigger mercury symptoms. I've been taking glucosamine sulphate for some months. I've stopped taking it and my anxiety levels have greatly decreased. The downside is I am getting some physical problems again that it helped with, but the anxiety is better. Jason, in regaurds to your question about my age, I just turned 30 this year and I have been having problems sence 1997. It all started when I was 22.

Demi,
What "physical problems" are you experiencing now that you've stopped taking glucosamine sulphate? I'm sure there are some non-sulfur alternatives that could help.

It is distressing to see such a long list of good food considered "poisonous" to this sufferer. What is there left to eat? Highly restrictive diets are no good in the long run, never mind trying to stick to them & deal with cravings. Let us try to find a humane, sensible solution.
I heard a nature-type doctor (N.D.) on the radio say, and I have also read this in Wallach's book on minerals, that selenium is an antagonist to mercury. Increasing selenium consumption through supplements might be a good start.

Hi Laura,
The main problem is like a tingling in my leg and shoulder. When I was taking the glucosamine, I rarely got this. I have RSI from too much typing and sitting at the computer/desk, and glucosamine is highly recommended for that.
It did help the problem, because now I've stopped taking it they are back, but my anxiety was definitely very high after taking it, and I had much more OCD symptoms lately than for a few years. Now I stopped the glucosamine sulphate, they have decreased, but the other problem has returned.

It's really difficult to know what to eat. I have trouble with fruit and I think milk is causing me some rhinitis. Also I have to watch the carbs as I have hyperglycemia symptoms. Eggs make me feel bad do I don't eat them. I eat bread, but I don't know if that is good for me because of the yeast, and I think I have candida. At the moment, I don't know what to eat for the best. I'm eating a lot of potatoes, rice, pizzas, but they are very high in carbs. I'm trying to eat more salads and limit the amount of cheese. I have cereal and am now using soya milk instead of cows and I have soups. But it's really hard to know what to eat, especially being vegetarian. It is distressing to see such a long list of good food considered "poisonous" to this sufferer. What is there left to eat? Why don't you concentrate on helping people instead of trying to sell your book. Last I knew this was a fourm to help people not a sales outlet.

Hi Demi, Sorry for the delay in responding...my to-do list is enormous and I've been away on business. Okay, RSI (repetitive strain injury) appears to affect the muscles, nerves and tendons of the arms and upper back, typically because muscles in these areas are kept tense for very long periods of time, due to poor posture and/or repetitive motions. The first things I would try would be magnesium (for the muscle tension), ginkgo biloba (for increased peripheral circulation), and boswellia or devil's claw (for pain and inflammation). I've actually taken a product called Ginkgo/Gotu Kola that really helps when I start getting similar symptoms from all the computer work I do, plus I take extra magnesium almost daily because I still have mercury in my tissues and mercury interferes with magnesium. A few friends of mine that have had shoulder or knee injuries have also used Joint Health. It's a combination of many herbs used in traditional Ayurvedic medicine from India. It's been amazing how well it worked, especially for chronic swelling and inflammation that was causing pressure on sensitive nerves. It also helped speed up the healing process. Doctors were quite surprised how quickly a friend recovered after an accident that damaged both knees pretty badly. Also, I know this sounds simple, but drinking water really helps me when I'm at the computer for long periods of time. It must help flush the lactic acid that tends to build up, because my hands and shoulder muscles will start to "burn." Once I drink a glass or two of water, it almost always subsides. It's easy to forget the little things like this. Hope this helps. Let me know if you try any of these and whether or not they help.

Anonymous, Selling books IS what helps people. The in-depth information necessary to deal with in-depth issues cannot?by any means?be completely covered in an online forum. You should be grateful that people provide online forums at their own expense (the software alone for this forum cost over $250, not including ongoing monthly bandwidth costs) to help raise awareness and offer a level of help pertaining to these important issues. Nevertheless, at some point, you'll have to buy a book eventually if you want to get the in-depth information you really need to fully understand and follow through with your personal health decisions (~$35). Of course, if we didn't allow people to expose the excellent books they've written on mercury exposure and detox, you could (if you so choose) find a physician that deals with mercury toxicity and pay him the $5,000 to $50,000 he would likely charge to put you on his detox plan. If you had written a useful book that pertains to the subject we're speaking about, I'd allow you to post a link to it here, as many already have posted links all over this forum to books and detox supplements all over the net that are very helpful.

Thanks for you and Laura also taking the time to respond to all of our questions here-- It has really been a blessing for all of us in this confused World!
