Hi Bex, How are you? I think it's the caffeine that does it to me,I have similiar reaction after tea or chocolate/caocao,especially the raw caocao.Sometimes I crave the really dark choc, you know 95%caocao& organic, but I've learned I cannot handle it even 2or 3 squares,I also get terrible detox/withdrawl?? symptoms for a few days after like crying, upset stomach, exhaustion etc,it happens every time and so I don't think it's a coincidence.
The fact I'm having cravings, usually premenstrual most likely means I'm lacking in some minerals and my blood sugar is a little unstable,I can't remember what the word is but I could be also craving that feel good stuff in chocolate. I've heard it said we are looking for love when we crave chocolate!Could be so. It's such a powerful stimulant &sooo addictive.I sometimes wonder about people who start each day with a cup of coffee &top up regularly during the day,the are actually addicted to this strong stimulant,it effects them in every way,it's especially worrying when so many doctors, pilots &other people who have other peoples lives in their hands are relying on this stimulant to keep them going.I'm rambling again,I'm probably just really allergic to the stuff.
At first it was difficult to give up the tea/coffee but when I quit smoking I had to quit these becauseI usually had cigarettes &coffee/tea together. There is a great choice of herbal teas so it's still nice to have a warm drink especially now the weather gone cold.
