I sympathise with you about this. Everytime I would get in touch with a dentist (not all but many), I would feel like I was walking on broken glass, as just about anything I enquired about or said seemed irritating to them.
There have been a few who have been ok and dont seem to have the big egos, but others are not easy to deal with and you have to wonder where the ego comes from considering they deal in..... "teeth"....
People like us annoy them because we ask questions OR we have had things go wrong and they dont' like that because it makes them look incompetent, so therefore they'll find a way of making you feel bad for even mentioning it.
I never used to be this cynical, but I HATE dealing with them and avoid it whenever possible. But you do meet ones that are genuine, kind, thoughtful and listen to your ills and they relaly do try and cater to your needs, but they are few and far between in my experience.
I find the best way to start is by emailing different dentists in your area and whether or not they answer your questions and are willing to try and help you. You can easily wipe the ones that dont or keep trying to sucker you into an appointment and won't answer even simple questions on email. Watch out for them.
