PS, be careful of hair testing. They are notoriously misleading if you are looking for levels of toxicity.
A very poisoned person with mercury may show a very low level of mercury on their hair test and then be told they are not poisoned. The reasons for a very low level can be retention toxicity. Which means the person may have a load of mercury stored in them, but the stuff is being tightly held onto and is not readily coming out. So they show a low level. IT also depends where the mercury is as to what is going to show up.
another reason for a low level, is that the person may not have much mercury, but could be highly reactive and poisoned by even very small amounts of it.
A person who shows very high levels of mercury, may not even show many symptoms, which might means they are being exposed to it but are getting rid of it very easily so it shows up in the hair.
High levels can of course show extreme toxicity as well.
I dont know if ANY level of mercury is that conclusive in this testing to be honest. The best way apparently of finding out if mercury is a problem, is to look at the mineral levels of the test. There is often a pattern in a mercury toxic patient and that can be the more accurate way of testing.
But I find the MOST accurate way to find out if mercury is an issue? See what happens when you take something that mobilises / chelates mercury. If you get an exacerbation of symptoms, (or even improvement), you can be pretty certain that mercury is a problem, if not THE problem.
That was the most telling for me! I would take something and my mercury symptoms would go through the roof, usually it was high sulfur that would do that.
A challenge test done in the right way can also be helpful. Andy discusses this I think in his book. I think it is taking a high amount of a chelator for a day or so and then getting the urine tested. But it has to be done correctly. But even he said that the symptoms alone during this test or after maybe obvious in itself that mercury is the problem...
