The Monster
I awake and in an instant am unveiled with wet cold sheets, the dream still running. Yes!I have survived another. I lie facing the images of another day More real and more terrifying, My body trembles in anticipation. I have become a choiceless thing Who slinks along the edges of my world. Inside me lives the beast, waiting to rampage At one false move, one scare-filled thought Through the inside of my heart Ripping and tearing, sending waves of terror to every cell. Stay still!Don't think!Stop feeling! It's too late! Thump, thump, thump, heart calling! Time to run, time to hide,no time to breathe! Sweat, vomit!collapse!Lose my mind! Die! Can I present myself in front of another day? I hate crowds,my bully boss, Entrapment, cars,in trains, and buses Stay in bed,I'm safer there. Mine is a secret life.
