Hooray! I had my last amalgam filling out today.

This year i have had 8 replaced and one metal maryland bridge replaced with a non-metal bridge.

I am mercury free at last!

sunshine!!! I hope that within time of having no more ongoing supply of mercury from amalgams and less overall mercury exposure, you will make big steps to recovery. In fact, it will probably be starting right now. I hear it does after they're all out.

Here's hoping and wishing you all the best!!!

Rollercoaster riding kinda day. up down up down and ending on the up.

First of all, I did not take any Vit C this morning.

15 mins prior to the dentist I took 10 capsules of activated charcoal, then again another 10 more after the removal.

Lots of mouth washing afterwards.

Change of cloths and a long shower.

Brain fog then set in big stylee. I have been dreading the brain fog, so operation-put-my-life-back-in-order came in to force, yet again.

7 grams of vit C and another 7 grams 3 hours later. That is on top of my usual heavy dosage of suppliments. i think i am taking about 12 different things at the moment.

I then had a really hot Epsom salt bath, & it made me feel considerably better, and i tried an
experiment too. I like experiments:

Alka-seltzer Gold is supposed to be good to get rid of brain fog, but I have not been able to find it in the UK. So I looked up the ingredients of this stuff:

Anhydrous citric acid 1000 mg. Antacid
Potassium bicarbonate 344 mg. Antacid
Sodium bicarbonate (heat-treated) 1050 mg. Antacid
• each tablet contains: potassium 135 mg
• each tablet contains: sodium 309 mg

When I have my Epsom salt baths I always add 1 cup of sodium
bicarbonate (and some hydrogen peroxide (H202) too) and soak in it
for 30 minutes. As hot as I can bare, to sweat as much as possible.
Then a freezing cold 1 minute shower at the end, which is not as bad as it sounds.

I also, for the first time, as an experiment, because of the
seriously bad news brain fog, I had one small teaspoon of sodium
bicarbonate in a glass of water, just after the bath.

And……………..Wow! That certainly got rid of the brain fog fast. I feel much
better now. When the fog returns I will have another teaspoon of it
and see if I can keep it at bay with that, but so far I’m feeling pretty damn good and don’t need any more yet.

Note to self: Brain Fog – take Sodium bicarbonate.

But………best not get over excited just yet. The previous amalgam removal gave me the worst symptoms I have ever had. Real double triple seriously serious bad news bad, that’s it, I really am funked now, I’m never gonna recover from this now……kinda bad. And that nastiness always kicks in the day after the removal……which is Friday!

Time will tell...............but right now i'm just happy.

I am mercury free at last!

ps. ok the freezing cold shower is pretty hardcore, but it kinda brings you back to here and now

Sunshine,
I took the activated charcoal about a year ago and it put me through it. I was hallucinating and then felt like something was on my chest. I felt like I couldn't breath!! I about had my husband take me to the hospital. This went on into the wee hours of the morning. Is charcoal something that you only take when your having your fillings removed? I wonder if I would still have the same reaction to it?? I had alot of mercury in me then. It scared the crap out of me!!
I'm wondering if there is something else that I could take when I have my last removals done?
Thank's
P.S.
I had only taken one charcoal when that happened to me!!
You tripped me out when you said that you had taken 10!!

This is great news, must be a big relief for you Let us know how you get on. Have you got a chelation regime planned?

Interesting about the sodium bicarbonate. How did you discover that it helps with your brain fog?

Congratulations and best of luck -- the roadblocks are gone and the open road's ahead!

Thanks everyone, yup I’m pretty happy it's all gone

Treva: yup, I only take charcoal when I have amalgams out. It is used to soak up any stray mercury that I might swallow. It also soaks up everything else in there at the same time, so I waited a couple of hour before taking the Vit C as the charcoal would have just soaked that up too.

I took 10 before, and another 10 after……

Charcoal is not the reason I get such difficult symptoms afterwards. I always get a repeat performance of the symptoms 7/14 and 21 days afterwards and I don’t have charcoal then. Each time slightly less bad the previous week. bloody ‘mare really.

Lindalou: Yeah…..loads of plans. Plans coming out my ears. Andy Cutlers protocol here we come. Read the blasted book 3 times now. Frequent low dosage of DMSA 3 days on, 4 days off, every 3-4 hours, starting at a low dosage of 12.5mg. Starting next Friday.

How did I discover about sodium bicarbonate(SB) and brain fog?

I learned about SB when I learned all about PH values and how to alkalise the body. You know the acid/alkaline balance stuff. Over on curezone there is a strange dude called “Askmoreless”, he has loyal following of people he has helped and I spent some time soaking up some of his words. The baths I got from him. I now have my own vegetable patch at home because he introduced me to refractometers. They show you the quality of the food you eat, (or rather the lack of quality) how mineralised it is and therefore how good it is for you. You squeeze some juice from, for example your carrot, into the refracometer and it gives you a reading and it tells you how healthy that bit of food is. I tested all my fruit and veg from different locations, from budget supermarket food, to gourmet organic stuff. £30 from ebay if I remember correctly. Really interesting stuff….…..but I can tell I’m getting off the beaten track…..again.

i have been using SB in my Epsom salt baths all year. I have been having them everyday for the past 2 weeks in the build up to the last removal. Why? Because removal effects me so badly I need to try and be in as best possible shape before hand. These really help in alkalising my body. I have been repeatedly told “Alka-Seltzer Gold” is good for brain fog, but I couldn’t find it in UK, so I looked up the ingredients, saw that SB was in it. I have some to hand….and gave it a try and it worked. That was yesterday.

Today I been feeling so bad I had to have a day off work. The brain fog has been hammering at my door all day today, but everytime I start getting real spacey, I have a small teaspoon of the stuff in a glass of water. I think I have had 6 dosages today. This is the first time I have done this and it worked fantastically well. I will certainly be using it again whenever I get the dreaded brain fog. 7 out of 10 in effectiveness. I found that together with the baths it works best. 500g of the stuff costs £1.69 @ Boots.

From what I remember, sodium bicarbonate should only be used for a limited time, like 1 or 2 days at a time. Don’t remember why. So I will only be using it when the fog is serious and it was very serious today

Thanks for all this info Sunshine

Let us know how you get on with the chelation? The days/weeks after amalgam removal can be hard. But in a way I found them more bearable because I knew what was causing the symptoms, and that I could do something about it.

Sometimes my ND has advised me to drink lemon juice in some water to normalise my PH. How do you know if your PH is out of balance, and how to fix it? This is something I know next to nothing about. Doesn't the baking soda neutralise all your stomach acid if you take it throughout the day?

“How do you know if your PH is out of balance, and how to fix it?”

Ohhhhh! I am not capable of explaining this stuff…..

But to kick start you interest………..you buy some PH strips from here:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-Alkalive-...9QQcategoryZ1277QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem

Take your PH value 3 times a day, or more, with both saliva and urine and make a note of what they are. I found it very interesting and I was taking it every time I had a pee which was 6 or 7 times a day.

What this does is to show you what the food you eat is doing to you, i.e. making you acidic or alkaline. Acidic is bad, alkaline is good. For example I used to eat a lot of rice. But rice is an acidifying food. I was unable to make myself alkaline when eating rice, but when I ate for example a salad I became slightly less acidic (i.e more alkaline), and I felt a little better.

Testing Ph value to a TOOL that showed me that, even though I could eat rice and I did not get sick from eating it, it did not help in making me more alkaline. If you body is acidic it will not heal, if it is alkaline it will heal.

I have done a rubbish job of explaining it, sorry. But if u google it more info will flow. Read the description on the above ebay site too.

Then…..when I found out that I was way acidic…I was down in the 5.5 level all day….it should be 7-7.5……..this really motivated me to find out more……so…..i read another book

http://www.amazon.co.uk/PH-Miracle-...ks&qid=1194185146&sr=8-1

Which is a pretty good….and it explains it much better than I can.

Anyway….so I started trying to alkalise my body with the food I ate. I tried eating 100pct alkalising food. Pretty tricky…..but do-able.

And I had only limited success……?

So….as per the above book, I did the 7 day veg juice only fast as a major kick-start. Was not ideal because it meant I lost more weight, which is not what I need…..but after learning all about this, I decided trying to alkalise my body was more important than losing a bit more weight. (sounds really stupid that, but I have some major weight loss problems and it was a big decision for me)

And then everything happened at once and I started healing. If u have seen my strange Cat experiment postings you will know what I’m talking about. If not…….errrrmm…due of various other experiments I was trying at that time I suddenly turned the corner and started healing.
This veg cleanse really helped along with the other experiments I was doing.

I can lend u that book if u like and I think I have a few PH stripes around somewhere too.

For a list of acidic and alkaline foods go here (this was just the first hit on google)

http://www.energiseforlife.com/list_of_alkaline_foods.php

This knowledge led me to so many other paths. I started learning about soil, mineral content, organic food and normal super market food and actually why one is better for you than not…..everywhere I turn there is more to learn….

Just looking at that list of alkaline foods….so many things I could not eat at that time.

I just remembered, doing the veg juice only fast, I discovered I could handle sulphur foods. Ouch! I remember having juiced up a load of leaks…..make me sick as a dog…..but this enable me to really “see” that sulphur foods screwed me up…..which was yet another pointer to mercury issues and avoiding sulphur foods further helped tip me above my toxic limit.

As I said this line of enquiry led to many other discoveries.

Its a jungle of there

Im new here.

Is sulphur good or bad if you are mercury poisoned ??

and, what will happen if you take something like raw egg which is high in sulphur (for example a bodybuilder who will, yolk and white, the entire thing ) and have mercury poisoning ?? does this get rid of the mercury ???

When I was mercury toxic, I found that sulfur foods often exacerbated my symptoms, depending on how much I had at one meal. It depends how poisonied you are, as well as depending on how much sulfur your body needs, as opposed to how much extra will be mobilising the mercury.

Some people do very well on sulfur foods (thrive on it), but others find it just makes the symptoms worse. You'll know how you feel yourself. I would know after a meal of high sulfur whether I had to be careful or not.

It does mobilise and can encourage "some" mercury excretion, but I would not over do it. Some want to exclude sulfur foods completely, that's their choice. It really does depend on how you react to it personally.

I can have it now in abundance, I'm fine with it. But there have been times it's just stirred things up a bit much. I never excluded it though, just lessened it a bit, but I do feel it did encourage some mercury to come out. The things that REALLY stirred it up was chlorella and garlic in supplement form etc. But again, some people do well on this stuff and claim it's detoxed a lot of their mercury.

There is not really one answer for everybody. I remember when I was mercury toxic, having just one meal with cabbage and eggs and I could tell almost immediately it was stirring the metals around. I felt ill, nothing serious, but enough to stir it up.

Hi Fuggles and welcome. What Bex says is correct, everyone handles sulphur differently. If u really want to know if that applies to you, you should consider doing a sulphur challenge test. You exclude all sulphur foods for 1 week. Then after a week eat some sulphur foods and see how you feel. If u feel better then sulphur foods are good for you. If u feel worse then u need to avoid them.

Errrrrmmmm….but before you rush off and do that…..

That’s what I did, unintentionally. I excluded all sulphur foods then ate loads of sulphur foods and boy oh boy…ouch! Too much. Stupid me! I learned the hard way, I over did the sulphur foods and it hurt like hell. So…..just a little test, with a littlel amount of sulphur food.

I was doing a veg juice cleanse and I drank a pint of juiced leeks, must have been 5 or 6 leeks in that juice……LOL…..f* that was stupid….LOL! I can laugh now but wasn’t in the slightest bit then.

If you have ever noticed any problems with sulphur foods, like eggs, cabbages etc then tread carefully.

Okay, if they do work for me, What will it do ?? Does it remove it ?? what exactly does it do ?? I think it does work for me, I felt good after eating cacao beans which are very high in sulphur, and I only ate them out of curioisty, not because I was thinking about getting rid of mercury.

Anyway, if it does work for some people, does it just get rid of it?

I think high sulfur foods mainly seek to mobilise available mercury, rather than chelate it. Perhaps it displaces it because if mercury is sitting in a place where a sulfur compound should be, then this might disrupt the mercury by the sulfur competing with a binding site. Could be a good thing, but done in excess can really make you feel ill if too much of a good thing is used and too much mercury gets stirred around in the process.

If you can handle it? That's great. Sulfur foods are very healthy. You'll know by your own reactions. Sulfur foods do have an affinity for mercury, becuase they have a thiol group which enables them to move metals. But the grip is not strong enough to really hold on tight enough, so usually the mercury gets stirred and then dropped again.

This is why some people have reaction to selenium, because selenium competes with mercury and can displace it. So this might also cause some stirring up, but selenium also helps protect against mercury and may be helpful. Some people find they can't tolerate it, which might indicate really high levels of mercury (or yeast?) and may need to start with a lower dose and probably the form of selenium that is better tolerated like selenomethionine, rather than sodium selenate.

Even certain minerals taken may seem to cause a detox reactioins, because again mercury sits in so many areas where these nutrients should be, that replacing them causes mercury to be disrupted, but again this disrupted mercury is then left free floating and going elsewhere.

This is why it is necessary to use a chelating agent that has 2 thiols like DMSA, ALA, DMPS etc. They have a tight enough grip on mercury to be classified as true chelating agents, rather than just mobilising agents like sulfur foods/supplements.

But they too usually need to be taken in a certain way to keep the chelating process more consistant, even and safer. Detox reactions are usually not avoidable with either, but can be lessened if it's done right.

These are things that I have read over the years and had personal and often painful experiences with. I do believe that sulfur foods at that time most definitely did stir up the metals and with the crying and salivating that woudl take place with me anytime metal got moved or stirred, some of course would have come out. But the reactioins were too extreme for me to continue doing. I had to keep taking breaks until I realised I could take a proper chelating agent and do it in a safe manner to avoid these reactions.

But if you get a really bad reaction to sulfur? Then lessen it. THe more mercury that is out of you, the less these things will become a problem. Yeast is also involved, because in all this, candida can flare up too which doesn't help.

Some people do very well on chlorella, some do badly. It is a case of trying things out for yourself, but not to the point where you take a huge dose of it.

Basically there are mobilising agents and chelating agents. If you do well on sulfur? continue consuming it. If you get reactions? Just go easy until enough mercury is gone to where you can increase your sulfur foods again. If the sulfur is stirring up some mercury in you, a little might come out in the process but I don't know if it's a significant amount depending on how much your body is able to excrete what's been stirred up.

Okay, Im new and the main words I keep hearing are mobilise and chelate, which I think mean one will hold on to it, the other will get rid of it.

I was under the impression that all a person needs to do is take chlorella and it will help, however Ive learnt a lot more since joining the forum.

Anyway, what products get mercury out of th body then ?? Can someone provide a list of chelators, mobilisers etc etc and other things which are relevant please ??

Also, you mentioned candida, ive never had it, but mercury has definitely interfered with my thyroid and possibly hypolgycemia.

Hi Fuggles, I find it confusing too and I have been on here for years and tried many different ways to detox the mercury.

But from what I understand, DMSA, DMPS, Alpha lipoic acid are the main chelators. These have a stronger grip on the metals.

The mobilisers are the sulfury foods and sulfur supplements - chlorella, sulfur amino acids like cysteine, methionine, NAC, onions, garlic, leek, cabbage, eggs, broccoli, etc. These have an affinity for mercury and can move it, but dont have a very strong grip on it.

But again, some people have done natural detox with mercury using products like that (the mobilisers) and reckon they have detoxed their mercury!

So perhaps their systems have better abilities to excrete the mobilised mercury.

But others don't cope well with this and dont excrete the stirred up mercury as well, so most may recirculate and get reabsorbed. Most of us may require the strong more stable chelators.

But there are people who simply do not tolerate the DMSA, perhaps allergy or whatever reason who may not wish to use it. DMPS is often better tolerated (Oral), but is much more expensive and harder to get hold of. But again, some may not tolerate that either.

Even if the strong chelators are used, if they are not used correctly, they too can cause redistribution (moving mercury around into worse areas).

If there was a perfect substance that had an iron grip on mercury and never let go? it would be brilliant, but no such stuff (as yet).

So I'll just type a list of chelators/mobilisers.

Chlorella
garlic
cysteine
methionine
NAC
alpha lipoic acid
DMSA
DMPS
sulfur foods to some extent
essiac tea (another one that apparently can aid detoxing mercury)
homeopathic detox kit (company is called "Heels")
selenium (to some extent by displacing mercury)
vitamin C powder (can sometimes encourage a bit, but mainly provides antioxidant protection like selenium)
glutathione
NDF (nanoised chlorella and cilantro etc)
cilantro

That is interesting to know about the essaic tea helping to detox mercury. I have tried some stuff with EDTA in it and it gave me a really hard time. I can get the essiac tea at my health food store. I would order the DMSA but don't know if my body is up to it yet. It all costs money and if I can't take it then it will just go to waste. That other stuff costed me like $40 and so hate wasting the money when I could have gotten another good supplement. Well you all know how that goes...I have spent up into the thousands of dollars since all of this started. I am sure everybody has too or will for sure.
Anyways I might be able to handle the essaic tea since it just has the herbs in it. I do pretty well on all sulpher foods and cilantro but I was raised on these foods so it could be that this is familiar to my body. Who knows but we are all having to research and find our own way. I'll be so smart LOL!!!
