Well, I have never called DAMS for their packet, but any dentists that remove amalgam around here are FEW and far between. The dentist 2 hours from me is the closest, and there's another about 2 1/2 or 3 hours from me, and then the others are out of state or over 4 hours. I haven't been able to understand how I can live so close to a metropolitan area (use to live in it, now I am in a small town 30 min out) of over half a million people, and probably a couple hundred dentists, and no one safely removes there.
All of these dentists that remove, require payment at the time of service, and we DO have insurance, then the insurance will reimburse what they see fit, but sometimes it all just jumbles my brain. I *think* I can probably get insurance to cover quite a bit, since the amalgams are so old, and I have a feeling that the dentists can "pull it off" and file where it makes most of the procedures covered, BUT I have to come up with ALL the money, at least for a quadrant, at one time, so I can do that. They really wanted to do me all at once if they could, because they said my mouth was in SUCH bad shape, that it wouldn't be long before I would be incapacitated. They actually suggested I boost my immune system with vitamin C, and Oregano Juice, and it helped get me out of a slump. The Oregano Juice is the worst stuff you will ever taste, but is very powerful, and I actually have acquired a taste for it now, because I know it's good for me. I have been off of it awhile, but I started taking it again last week, and I really feel that is what is responsible for me feeling better this week.
BTW, Jigsaw Foundation is no more. I gave them my story, and also talked to Patrick Sullivan by phone towards the end of last year, first of this year, and they really wanted to help me, but didn't have the funds. They have always been wonderful to me, and kept in contact with me, but let me know that the foundation came to an end, because they just had too many people to help, and not enough funds to help them. They said, maybe it just wasn't the time for a foundation like that, because I guess they are still having a hard time getting people to believe it, resulting in donations. I am disappointed in them, and feel it was a cop out, because if they could at least help ONE person once in awhile, that would be better than none.
BTW, I had a crown and a filling when I was 17, and I think it did a little damage to me. I have a feeling that those are what started everything, and then I started having gallbladder trouble at 19, immediately after my oldest daughter was born. Then I spent 9 months vomiting and ruining the enamel on my teeth. Then when I was getting ready to turn 21, I thought I was doing something really good for myself by getting my teeth fixed. Little did I know, I was killing myself. As soon as I got the fillings done (had ALL of them done withing 2 weeks time, as I was on state medical coverage that ends when you're 21), got them all done by my birthday, and then I took DEATHLY sick. I couldn't eat, breathe, I OD'd on Tylenol for the pain, because that's all I had, and probably damaged my liver. My whole face swelled, mouth, tongue...I can't even describe it. I called the dentist and he told me to "take a tylenol". He was a real jerk, because he knew I no longer had insurance, and he refused to see me. I went to another dentist, and he said I was "allergic" to all of my fillings, and he had to give me an antibiotic. I have never figured that one out...I was so sick and so swelled up, and he gave me an antibiotic. Anyway, he told me that if the antibiotic didn't help, that I needed all my fillings drilled back out and replaced with "medicated fillings" whatever that meant. I had no money, and no insurance, so I was doomed with a mouth full of poison. The antibiotic actually did help, and I thought I was home free, but I was NEVER right again, and I never understood what was causing it.
Anyway, I've talked your ears off. lol I am so glad I've come back, and met you guys to talk to.
