Russ, I am looking for studies that show the efficacy of algin for heavy metal (mercury if possible) detox. Thanks very much

I just asked Laura (she does most of our research) and she said that she has found a connection with Strontium-90 and (if she remembers correctly) lead and she does not remember if she found research directly connecting Algin with heavy metals or not. She may get some time to do a search tonight through her medial research archives/subscriptions and see. Of course, the Laura and I both have had remarkable results with it pertaining to mercury and we find that about 6 of 10 people that try it do as well. (3 of 10 have marginal results and 1 of 10 get stomach irritation). Perhaps she'll have some time and see if she can find more information for this thread.

Don't know if this will help but at my local health food store I asked about Algin. They had not heard of it so I asked about sodium alginate and told them it comes from brown seaweed. We pulled the book out and looked it up and it said that it helped in the detox of heavy metals,(mercury, lead, strontium-90, barium, cadmium, manganese, tin, zinc, and various radioactive materials)and also environmental pollutants and toxins. Hope this helps. Rachel

Thanks. I chelate with Andy Cutlers protocol and take Algin to eliminate metals when I am not chelating. One thing is for sure: Algin is a very low risk detox supplement.
I hope there are few studies that show it can speed up metal elimination.

Are there any studies (human/environment )that show it can bind organic and inorganic mercury?

I posted a long list of studies on another thread and unfortunately, I'm currently out of town and don't have access to them, however, they are posted on this forum somewhere.
I also don't know if any of the studies answer your question, but perhaps you can check them out and see.
They're here somewhere and have been posted within the past week. Perhaps I'll do some follow up on this when I get back into the office.
