Glad to see you're back Bex. Got your computer sorted then?
I was dumbstruck when I read about how you still had amalgam left in your teeth. That is horrific. You've been operating all this time on the assumption that it had been removed. It really is awful that we have to put such trust in the dentists. My own knew that I wanted every last bit out and I told her so. And she said it was all gone. But how can I be sure?
Have you done anything to chelate? Do you think you could give DMSA a go again?
It seems to be my only hope at the moment. I've started another round today, came off the sugar binge a few days ago and striaghtened my diet back out. I'm on 50mg each of DMSA and ALA round the clock. It helped last time I stopped chelating and got insomnia. Lately the SAD has hit very hard, probably as a result of the clocks going back, and the insomnia I've had has been horrendous. I haven't had symptoms as bad as these since my first winter of SAD, before light therapy, before diet changes. As soon as the sun goes down I start feeling yucked out, and I'm not capable of doing much in the evening apart from sitting and trying to comfort myself. I'm jittery, anxious, and I get tired way before it's time to go to bed; right now it's 7pm and I'm zonked.
I hope that if I keep chelating, this will get better. I don't really know what else I can try. I would dearly love to do light therapy because it gave some relief in the past, but it's not an option right now. I need to try to hold it together for the sake of the course I'm on now, and the possibility of work after Christmas, and I have to take care of my little girl -- not to mention keep my relationship with my husband afloat; he's fed up with years of me being depressed and I told him I was sure that once my course started and Shelly went to school, it would lift. Uh-huh.
Maybe the chelation will start to make a difference in a day or two. Strange, I remember you saying at one point that after amalgam removal some symptoms can get better and some can get worse. The period problems I'd been having stopped almost straight away. My brain is fairly clear now; I am not as absent-minded or fogged as I was. But after a few years of relief from sleep problems, they started again immediately after amalgam removal. Right now I think my body clock is massively disrupted. Strange what one less hour of daylight in the evening will do.
I'm frightened, but I know I'm talking to someone who's been through this kind of thing and much worse. You really are an inspiration Bex. It's good to have you back <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
