Hi guys, wow thanks so much for thinking of me and speaking so highly of me! My computer has been out of commission for over a month now and the guy "fixing it" has a wife with cancer who is in the hospice, plus apparently cannot find the right "DRIVERS' for my computer. I feel sorry for him, but at the sametime i really want my computer back and may have to take it off him and get someone else to help out. I am highly frustrated and miss everybody here as well.

I'm typing this from my brother's computer to let you all know what's going on. Again really pleasantly surprised by all the comments here and concern, means a lot.

I hope to be back at some point soon, can't wait to catch up with all you guys. Feels really weird to be away and it's odd to miss people you haven't even met in reality, but kind of nice.

take care
xxx

I'm really glad you're OK Bex, and thanks for checking in. I wish my husband could help you; he's always sorting out people's computer problems. If it's a question you have, rather than something physical that needs doing, then feel free to ask and I will pass it on to him.

I was up to 50mg DMSA and 37.5mg ALA last round, ended up feeling very depressed. It came on top of the gradual loss of humanity I feel at this time of year as SAD creeps up on me -- this is the 4th winter now. Doing my teaching course 2 days a week, and my daughter being at school now, are not enough to be lifting the depression. I'm still looking for a part-time job and I've prepared about 10 letters to local schools, but I've been searching for a year so far.

At the moment, despite having done really well with my diet, I'm on another sugar binge. It does something to my biochemistry at this time of year to help me feel better, but the price tag is so very high. At the moment I just don't know what to do. I was crying every day, no motivation to do much.

I haven't written much here because I don't think there's really anything anyone can do to help. I've got to hope that I can find a job, or that supply teaching after Christmas will be enough to lift the depression. If not, I have no idea what I'll do next. If I can scrape up the money by that point. I might try a visit to the Breakspeare Hospital in London. Though they don't seem to have helped Tracy much.

I hope you're feeling better yourself? We're all in a fine pickle aren't we <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Take care,
Linda.

Hi Linda Lou,
I was SAD for years, starting around November and carrying on till March, varying on the weather each year, and circumstances, like if I'd managed to get out more etc.
Anyway,do you know what helped me,each time I felt low I ate something raw, like a carrot or 2,or some peppers.
This really helps. If you have a sweet craving it might be the last thing you fancy but it's what the body really needs.

I thought I was helping myself by getting the daylight bulbs but Sunshine mentioned earlier that they have mercury in them
so I'll have to get them replaced at some stage.I have not used them since.
We had 7 straight weeks of rain this "summer"and the summer never really arrived to Dublin anyway,I bet sales of anti-depressants will rocket this year because of that.

Hi Sunflower,

Yep, the summer was just as dismal here in central England. I think it's going to make for a difficult winter for SAD. One problem I have personally is that ever since I came off an antidepressant a year and a half ago, I've had adrenal dysfunction; it's slowly getting better, but too much bright sun, and heat, make me sick. Ironic isn't it? I also can't do light therapy because it sends my cortisol through the roof. I sold my visors and light box.

Thanks for the advice but I do eat a lot of raw veg, carrots being my favourite. I used to juice veg twice a day, including six carrots or so, but gave it up a while back because it was hassle without a lot of benefit. I follow the Paleolithic diet (when I'm not "on the sugar") and I have a good supplement regime.

Just have to hold onto my hat and hope that the depression lifts when I get a job. It's taking a long time. I hate the dark winters here; I grew up in mid-America and winters were bright with snow and log fires.

Sunflower,

The mercury in the daylight bulbs is not leaking out of them. there is a very small of mercury in them needed to create the pressure to light the bulb but it only escapes if you break one. I know there is some argument about mercury in the bulbs but considering the fact that they consume so much less electricity than tungsten bulbs (tungsten is also poisonous btw) they are actually helping the environment in that respect since your local power plant won't be pumping as much mercury or whatever else into the air for you to light your home.

My house is full of them, I love them. Great for doing artwork in the wee hours. I have been sitting next to one for over 15 months without any ill effects.

HI guys, just to let you know I am officially back online (permanently). I am at the moment catching up on messages and seeing how everybody is.

Thanks Mikey for your comments! :-) don't get that kind of a welcome in reality ;-) lol, so feels really good! You too Sandi and thanks so much . How are you by the way?

Linda, I am so sorry to hear of your ongoing struggles. I know for everybody it is different and one doesn't always know what else is going on that could be causing it as well. You, like myself, really fight to even control symptoms or "hope" to control them and this ongoing diet is not easy and at times you wonder why you bother, but when I cheat, then I get even worse.

I found out that even a little binge on potatoe chips will cause a complete relapse. I am honestly fed up and two weeks later after that, I'm still hoping for slight improvement. I cannot even engage in exercise without getting ill.

at any rate, I went into a dentist recently and got half of my composites replaced with cerec porcelain. I tried my best to make sure the dentist did everything as well as possible (like checking the material he used with the serum test I had). I hope he didn't hide anything from me (I dont have a lot of trust). So far, I'm not noticing anything significant (worse or better), but at least the material should last a long long time and they are tougher and not as soft or leak as much.

Yes they are porcelain, but apparently are not exactly like the old style typical porcelain and appear to be pretty well tolerated by toxic/sensitive people. Time will tell.

But get this, when he was drilling out my old composites, he discovered amalgam had been left under the top ones. Great eh? All those years of detoxing and I still had mercury in my mouth. He said that often dentists do not like to drill too deep, so often they will leave some of the amalgam there and simply cover over it. This is dishonest and I think pretty disgusting when you consider that you go in and ask to have all the amalgam out for health reasons and you are basically lied to. I have also read that often people will not recover or recover properly unless every scrap of amalgam has been removed. So yeah that was quite a surprise to find out I still had some. Even a panoramic xray didn't show them up properly.

Anyway, the cerec is very expensive and I am slowly trying to pay it off. Kind of nightmarish, but it's amazing what people will do in hopes of getting a breakthrough eh? Will soon do the other side of my mouth.

Anyway, glad to be back and am going to continue reading more of the messages on the forum.

Luv Bex <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I often heard that people won't get better if they don't remove all amalgam. Very disgusting, this can cause years of suffering... most denstists seem to be brain-dead anyway <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

Hi bg123, yep that is true. I read also that there was a young guy who was debilitated and come to find out it was only ONE small pit filling that stood in the way of him achieving full health. When removed, he recovered his health again.

And I think I read somewhere else that every scrap needs to be removed before the body will give up its storage. However, for me my body began to dump mercury regardless because after they were removed, months later I got the dumping stage so obviously it happened anyway, even though now I find out I still had some leftover..

Definitely it is very hard to find out if you have leftover amalgam. Hard to believe that even a panoramic xray didn't seem to show anything much.. though I used to look at my top teeth and I swore I would see something..but dismissed it because nobody confirmed it until now.

Bex, often it's no longer the poisoning that makes the person sick but the constant activation of the immune system.

There is another possibility:

http://www.holistic-dentistry.com/artalzeimer.asp

This article says if you have a bacteria infected teeth the bacteria will produce Dimethylthiol mercury if there is amalgam. This compound is much much more toxic than any other form of mercury. No wonder some people get so sick from very little amalgam.
-----------------
The anerobic bacteria of periodontal disease produce hydrogen sulfide (H2S) and methyl thiol (CH3SH) from cysteine and methionine, respectively. This accounts for the "bad breath" many individuals have. However, in a mouth that produces H2S, CH3SH (from periodontal disease) and Hgo (from amalgam fillings) the very likely production of their reaction products, HgS (mercury sulfide), CH3S-Hg-Cl (methyl thiol mercury chloride) and CH3S-Hg-S-CH3 (Dimethylthiol mercury) has to occur. This is simple, un-refutable chemistry whose presence is supported by easily observable amalgam tattoos. These tattoos are purple gum tissue surrounding certain teeth where the gum and tooth meet and caused by HgS as determined by mercury analysis of such tissue. HgS is one of the most stable forms of mercury compounds and is the mineral form of mercury, called cinnabar, from which mercury is mined from the earth). All of these compounds are classified as extremely toxic and the latter compound, dimethylthiol mercury is very hydrophobic and it solubility similar to dimethyl mercury. Dimethyl mercury was the compound that was recently in the press where only a small amount spilled on the latex gloves of a Dartmouth University professor caused severe medical problems and finally death. Logic implys that anyone with periodonatal disease, anaerobic bacterial infected teeth and mercury containing fillings would be exposed daily to these very toxic compounds. In the Haley laboratory we synthesized the two methylthiol-mercury compounds and tested them. They are extremely cytotoxic at 1 micromolar or less levels and are potent, irreversible inhibitors of a number of important mammalian enzymes, including tubulin and CK.
----------

I do believe that are many people that do not recover or respond after amalgam removal because they still have mercury left. You won't believe it but this happens very often! It's a shame.

How could this not show up on X-ray bex? Or did it? If I should not recover fully I will make sure that there no amalgam left. I would like to learn from this mistake...

My mind continues to boggle! Words fail me, in fact they don’t, but I only have swear words. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/censored.gif" alt="" />

But, thankfully it has now been discovered and removed. At long last. Real healing here we come? Hopefully. How long ago was the last amalgam removed? Have you noticed any changes yet?

Hey Bex:

Glad to see you're back on-line! Your posts are always good to read, and you are way too nice. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/kewldance.gif" alt="" />

So you are getting cerec porcelain to replace old composites? I think this might be a great move - especially since they found some amalgam still there. As bg123 mentioned, this might have been holding you back too. We discussed this before too on the old composites possibly being bad for you, so please let me know how things go. I hope this turns it around for you.

Who makes the cerec porcelain you got placed? Are you going to get the rest done soon? I would be interested to know if they find more amalgam too. Too bad we have to rely on dentist's word that it is all out. Did this not show on a panoramic x-ray? There are too many things not in our control sometimes that should be.

Later,

Glad to see you're back Bex. Got your computer sorted then?

I was dumbstruck when I read about how you still had amalgam left in your teeth. That is horrific. You've been operating all this time on the assumption that it had been removed. It really is awful that we have to put such trust in the dentists. My own knew that I wanted every last bit out and I told her so. And she said it was all gone. But how can I be sure?

Have you done anything to chelate? Do you think you could give DMSA a go again?

It seems to be my only hope at the moment. I've started another round today, came off the sugar binge a few days ago and striaghtened my diet back out. I'm on 50mg each of DMSA and ALA round the clock. It helped last time I stopped chelating and got insomnia. Lately the SAD has hit very hard, probably as a result of the clocks going back, and the insomnia I've had has been horrendous. I haven't had symptoms as bad as these since my first winter of SAD, before light therapy, before diet changes. As soon as the sun goes down I start feeling yucked out, and I'm not capable of doing much in the evening apart from sitting and trying to comfort myself. I'm jittery, anxious, and I get tired way before it's time to go to bed; right now it's 7pm and I'm zonked.

I hope that if I keep chelating, this will get better. I don't really know what else I can try. I would dearly love to do light therapy because it gave some relief in the past, but it's not an option right now. I need to try to hold it together for the sake of the course I'm on now, and the possibility of work after Christmas, and I have to take care of my little girl -- not to mention keep my relationship with my husband afloat; he's fed up with years of me being depressed and I told him I was sure that once my course started and Shelly went to school, it would lift. Uh-huh.

Maybe the chelation will start to make a difference in a day or two. Strange, I remember you saying at one point that after amalgam removal some symptoms can get better and some can get worse. The period problems I'd been having stopped almost straight away. My brain is fairly clear now; I am not as absent-minded or fogged as I was. But after a few years of relief from sleep problems, they started again immediately after amalgam removal. Right now I think my body clock is massively disrupted. Strange what one less hour of daylight in the evening will do.

I'm frightened, but I know I'm talking to someone who's been through this kind of thing and much worse. You really are an inspiration Bex. It's good to have you back <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Hi bg, thanks for your response. Really interesting and I think that is part of my senario along with the persistant viral infection.

I do recall a very dramatic deterioration after dental work and some of that was wisdom tooth removal. This can of course leave a person with cavitations, which is kind of like having a form of wet gangrene in the mouth. Just as you mentioned, the combination of this potent bacteria with any remaining mercury or even by itself can be devastating to the immune system.

However, it is very hard to have anything show up and have it show up accurately, let alone finding someone who will open up each ex wisdom tooth site to clean it out regardless of what has shown on xray. This is near impossible.

So many of us could well be dealing with multiple issues and not realise which is souly responsible for our symptoms or if it's the combination of many things at onetime...

This is why we make these heroic attempts at diet etc in the hopes of getting some form of relief or control at the very least if we cannot actually heal or get rid of the underlying condition. I think it is necessary regardless because the body builds itself on good food and it can aid the detoxing, but so much of the time I feel as though I am wasting my time these days. Seems like I dont get the relief and improvements I once did, but again what I do have is persistant and does not seem to allow for any long term improvements.

Bg, the panoramic xray I have really does not seem to show any sign of amalgam. I still have it and am looking and still really cannot spot it. Obviously it doesn't show up too good on xray when you have a lot of white filling over the top of it making things look ok. Though some people have been able to spot theirs on xray. Mind was only spotted through removal of composites.

I sure hope that dentist did remove it all and not just mention it! Im sure he did. Also another danger for a person who has a combination of potent bacteria from gum/jawbone infection is using any potent sulfur supplements like garlic etc. Not sure what it is, but was told that it has the ability to do something to the bacteria/mercury, which then becomes a FAR more toxic form and can do a lot of damage.

Dont know what exactly, but I do know that supplements of garlic are devastating to me, yet never used to be. So I steer clear of them. Ok with the food though. But yeah, sometimes those of us who have ended up worse can at least prepare others to avoid making similar errors.

Hi sunshine, thanks, it's good to be back <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/horray.gif" alt="" />

I am not optimistic that this extra bit of amalgam removal will make much if any difference to my condition because I my dramatic deterioration came after the mercury poisoning and was viral/bacteria related. So that in itself for me was actually and is actually worse than anything I've experienced because it has put me in a much weaker condition and now my body hangs onto toxins and doesn't let go.

E.g. I'm sure everybody recalls me smoking up a storm of cigarettes ages ago? The toxins from that are STILL haunting me. And I mean muscle tics, metal taste, worse gut problems, crying spells etc. All that from binge smoking for one day. This is unfortunately the senario anytime I get a massive exposure of toxins. I cannot find anything really to grab the toxins and escort them out. DMSA won't help this time around, has no effect on me whatsoever anymore. So certainly whatever was in the cigarettes, is now helped by DMSA.

Definitely some of it was metal related because I can taste it. Try to imagine if you detox systems are totally overloaded and overburdened. Then imagine where the toxins from a big exposure would go. And it's astounding where they end up when your body is highy compromised and cannot deal with them. Even my eyes are affected. It seems that this cannot be possible, but believe me it is. I've had it more than once and it's not a case of recovering in a few days or weeks for me with something like that. I've always had that tendency, but with the viral infection it is chronic now.

Hi Linda, yep the computer is fixed and hopefully will last this time.

I know what you mean about the trust issue with dentists when they remove our amalgams. I know of a biologic dentist who has a website and speaks of the horrors of mercury and what it did to him and how he removes amalgam and has the patient go through detox, yet have found out he's left amalgam in underneath composites in patients.....so you gotta wonder how many greedy deceptive people out there. They are in such a position of power in this area.

I hope that your dentist is an honest one and attentive to what you wanted done.

I cannot recall exactly when you had your amalgams out, but I do know that it takes years to detox and improve. IT is the rare person who improves from day one. Most have to go through years of detoxing this garbage from their organs/tissues/brain and the breakthrough of a lifting of depression didn't happen to me at all during that time. ONe day it did and hit out of the blue. It was like the sun coming out. I was actually in my room at the time clearing out my wardrobe and I suddenly became aware that I felt happy and good and I sat down on my floor and just immersed myself in this feeling. It was incredible. Though it clouded over again a bit, it then came back again out of the blue when I was watching a movie and then there it was and it became more frequent and finally each day was happier.

Now, that did not occur in all the 2-3 years or so of detoxing. Most of that time I was in a stupor of depression, with only vague patches of lifting. You cannot help being depressed with this thing, it becomes part of you. Though you have to somehow "keep going", it's always there (at least it was for me). And you feel like you're a drain or burden on others, but it isn't you, it's what you have. And if/when it lifts, you'll be stunned at what is underneath. You actually forget what you were really like until the real you comes to the surface. I used to have people tell me it was my lifestyle or that I needed to get out more, but it had nothing to do with that, it was simply toxicity.

I am hoping for you that it is a case of time and chelation. For me? Chelation doesn't work now, so it isn't really about the mercury. I am still in the process of the replacement of composites with cerec, but don't hold out hopes that it will make much...if any difference to be honest. But at least it's one part i'm getting out of the way.

Diet is proving horrible at the moment with me constantly making dietry errors and going back to square one (even with rice). So I am honestly fed up. Thanks again for your really kind feedback. This forum really is a lifesaver for me I think. So glad I can ever help in anyway, makes things worthwhile :-)

its good to see you back Bex!
i opted to have most of my mercury teeth pulled for the reason that the dentist cant drill it all out, only if its a very small filling. i only have 2 composites i will get them redone next year, and totally detoxed of any mercury which may be there, hopefully. :: <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cry.gif" alt="" />

I am glad you're here Bex, and I'm glad you find it mutually supportive. You are consistently optimistic and pragmatic in your approach to your illness and it sets a really helpful standard for others here I think.

It must have been wonderful to have your depression lift in that fashion, after all that time. It's what I would only dream of -- I lost the serious hope quite a while ago that it would happen to me like that, but you never know. It's good that you can hold onto what it felt like to be better. I try to do that myself, hold onto the moments when I haven't felt so bad, but they have been very few in the past months. Nevertheless I do tell myself that I will feel good again, and that I've got to carry on now to make that happen.

I think I will start a thread about insomnia, as that's the problem at the moment. Damn clocks turning back, shouldn't be allowed <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

Hi Linda, thank you! I think I come across more optimistic on here than I am in reality. In my own private life I feel shattered and depressed daily, but I try to recall the mercury days before the virus etc as that is what people are mainly going through on here (for the most part). I preferred those days to this because I know that in the end the stuff did come out!

Insomnia has been a problem my whole life. I believe that maybe mercury also (candida too) are responsible. The candida diet did help that, but I still had bouts of it that would sometimes last months or even a year or more at a time. In the end I would get up and read or get online.

My Mother suffers this badly also and she is one of those people that if she "does" actually get to sleep at a reasonable hour, one jolt and she's a wake and that's it. She will end up getting up because no amount of lying there helps her apparently. She has a mouth packed full of amalgam. So I do wonder if mercury may have some hand in that for her. Hard to say. I know my uncle suffers with it and has false teeth but again he was drinking caffeine quite often and cutting down on that and not drinking it before bed helped apparently.

After taking a course of antibiotics, I tend to fall to sleep now and simply not awaken till morning. It is like being knocked out. NOt sure why, but assume it's drugged me from causing worst yeast or something...yet yeast can cause insomnia, so I have no real explanation for that one. Though I can sit up all night on occassion and not be able to get myself into the mood to sleep. But mostly I'll hit the bed and I cannot stay awake to watch a movie right through or anything. This is definitely not normal for me, so who knows what the antibiotics did. It sounds good, but when you consider my other symptoms as well, something isn't right. I would not recommend antibiotics for that reason <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

I know a guy (friend) that gave up smoking and once he did, he suffered insomnia from then on. So bad, he started to give in and take some sleeping pills. He said he would just take a bit of it and it helped. He wasn't sure what the cause of it was, but assumes it was the shock to the system of having no more intake of cigarettes and the body was kind of on high alert or something. Perhaps it's part of detox?

I know this, when I was going through mercury detox, I would suffer such severe patches of insomnia, I honestly felt like I was going to lose it. So I definitely can sympathise with you. I never really bothered taking anything for it. I seem to recall the herbal aids didn't seem to help much and I didn't feel good on herbs either.

I wonder whether the mercury is in the area of the brain to do with melatonin? I just wonder whether taking this supplement OR taking things that help increase the chemicals in the brain that induce sleep....might help. But again if mercury is in those areas, it's a bit like the thyroid. You can be tested and there can show nothing wrong, but mercury likes to sit in certain areas and block their action. Even though testing can show there is enough of that substance in your system, mercury can block the action of it. So it's the same end result that you'd get if you didn't have enough of it or too much etc.

This is what I hate about this poison. It's action on a person is so severe, but doesn't really show any outward sign, other than pallor in the face, or a person looking unwell. But It's a hidden torment.

Might be a good idea of yours to start a thread on insomnia, because mercury is notorious for doing this.

Hi Dawn, it's good to be back too <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> But I wonder how long, I seem to be having some problems on here again. So hmmmm, not happy about this at all. I can't afford another computer, but maybe able to get one for free (hopefully).

That is good that you have no mercury and only two composites. How are you by the way? Do you feel you're making progress? I know for mercury detox it is usually years before a person recovers, but I do wonder how you are and if you think there are improvements. Let me know.

Hi Bex, well im not the dead woman walking i was last year after removal, but still have horrid symptoms, mainly hormonal. im getting all my hormones tested soon, also cortisol if i can wean off the H.C first which could be difficult, i should have got tested before i evn took anything for adrenals, i was in too much of a hurry. i now fear i have high cortisol, instead of low, my temperature is high throughout the day, ive put on weight and my hormones are all over the place.
Im still doing chelation very mildly, 25mg dmsa/ 15mg ALA.
I have a job now,i wish ididnt have to work but my debts are spiraling out of control due to this illness, i have no choice.
Its amazing how it is keeping this illness off my mind a bit, though sometimes i cant face going in, and when i get there i sometimes cry in the toilets.
Im so glad you got yours done again, i know the fumes in the dentist room can send you back to square one.
I have been chelating for about a year, i think it will take me a long time to get better, but i cant be in too much of a rush or take high doses because i think it would put me straight back in bed again.
I hope you get your P.C sorted, it is a pain when they go wrong all the time, its my life-line.
Take care, dawn xx
