I just read your post, Scarlet. I'm so very sorry for all you've been through, sounds horrific. You are clearly a very brave person and an inspiration to everyone here.
When I was getting my wisdom tooth out last year, the surgeon who was removing it was angry that I had not been told about possibility of nerve damage - they laid it on me just as I was about to go in. I consequently cancelled as I was freaked out of my wits, and he wasn't pleased at all with the way the previous consultant hadn't mentioned anything, espeically considering I have an anxiety and dental phobia problem. I had to go to hospital to have the tooth out because it was in an awkward position (half sticking out, but the rest into the cheek and gum). I had no choice except to have it out as it was decaying and after the last infection I got which swelled up my face I was terrified of potentially serious complications of not getting the surgery done, but it was a year before I could face going there again. They wanted to knock me out because of my anxiety problems, to which they referred me back to my doctor as it was way above the average patient, but in the end I did it just with the injections. I don't know what they used, though, but I was extremely lucky that the tooth came out in seconds. I usually try to endure fillings and dental work without injections - even had a root canal done without one. I had to have a lot of injections for this recent tooth extraction and surgery and got bruised as a result.
I will pray for your improvement, strength to cope, peace of mind and happiness. God bless you and heal you.
