Also I took iodine supplements for a few weeks and now my body is covered in an acne type rash and it wont go away. I hate iodine.

You can be hypothyroid and skinny. Have a look at this table of symptoms http://www.drrind.com/scorecardmatrix.aspIt possibly means you have more adrenal problems than thyroid. It would also account for the nervousness and inability to put on weight. Iodine is a bit of an unknown when it comes to treating thyroid. Works well for some, not for others. I would get your adrenals tested first, to see if you can tolerate thyroid treatment. Best Nicola

Most of the civilized world is lacking iodine, and it is remarkable what supplementing it can do for your health. Even iodized salt doesn't have near what our body requires. Check this out.... "Iodine in adequate doses stops and reverses this stage of the cancer process by causing the natural death of abnormal cells (apoptosis). Iodine circulates throughout the body in the extracellular fluids found between the cells of the body. If cell surface proteins have the amino acid tyrosine on the outside, the passing iodine reacts with this tyrosine. This little reaction denatures the protein and thus kills the cell. It is implied all vertebrate cell membranes do not have tyrosine on the portion of the protein sticking out into the extracellular fluid. I was just reading about the balance of endocrine hormones in a book about arthritis, and how for some people if one of the endocrine organs gets all the attention with supplementing hormones then it could cause big strains on the other organs. This is because of the support role each organ gives to others (the balance). Iodine is also a DETOXIFIER so that I believe you must go slow at first and build up iodine in your system. Iodine is a support element in your system and to have a reaction to it means something deeper is going on. Also using salt (natural sea salt) is very beneficial while taking iodine because of it's ability to slowly detox bromines (very bad for the body) and restore fluid stores in the body. Many times people who have problems with minerals, vitamins and elements can not assimilate them (digest) and this is a huge problem. By not digesting these helpful nutrients they become a negative load on the body and you can become intolerant of them thus bad reactions and symptoms. If this is a problem then and excellent treatment is NAET or BIOSET. You can look up either of these things on the web. I have had bioset done and it works very well. It allows the body to reset it's self to absorb and cope with outside influences (allergies, food, ect.)
