Drugs for depression? You won't find many people here endorsing them. I suggest you have a look at what people have said in the Antidepressant thread. Diet and supplements, best way to go. Do you think you are having problems related to mercury?

I have tried the natural Lithium product for mood swings, it' didn't help at all, and yet all the websites i had been on were full of people 's testomonies saying they had had fantastic results. Therefore I came to the conclusion either it's a farce or it won't help with what we are suffering from. Sorry I know how desperate you can get to find something to help, but I can honestly say I may well as not bothered. Tracy

Isn't lithium a heavy metal?

Lithium is an element. It is a metal. Not heavy though. It is near the top of the periodic table. It is related to sodium, and is directly above sodium on the periodic table.

Have you had all your amalgams removed and chelated? Mercury interferes with the functioning of lithium in the body so if you reduce your mercury toxicity , your symptoms may go away without taking lithium supplements.

Supplements work in synergy with each other, and they can take time as they assist the body in healing. We are programmed to believe that one pill can make us feel better straight away. Nature doesn't work like that. I am healing from damage done to me by an antidepressant (as well as amalgam removal) and I'm slowly getting better but this is a matter of months and years. I take a variety of supplements throughout the day according to my naturopath's instructions.
I would suggest you have a look at the specific supplements that are recommended on this site for people who are mercury toxic. There are other things that people benefit from generally, whether they are ill or not, such as fish oil, vitamin C, magnesium, and a good-quality multi.
Hope this helps, Linda.

yes you are right. It is very unlikely that one pill will cure me. I take most of the vitamins and supps you mentioned. They give me little relief. I do not like traditional ADs very much. btw. lithium orotate is not a drug. It is an essential element and can help with brain repair. I know that i have a mercury problem and will get well. I need something to keep my mood stable while i detox <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

Lithium is a grey area . . . it can work as a drug; I originally guessed you were asking about it because it tends to be prescribed for bipolar disorder -- moods swings, as you mentioned.
You're welcome to try it if you want. I wouldn't recommend it myself. Maybe if you could be more specific about the troubles you are having, we could give better advice. What kinds of mood swings are they, and do they seem to be triggered by anything? What are you using to chelate with? Also, what is your diet like? Eliminating some things can help a lot. Are you familiar with the candida and Paleo diets that some people here follow?

St. John's Wort can sometimes takes a week or two to start working. Some say to take it for at least a month before deciding that is not effective for you.

You could try eating things that are high in lithium. If you take a prescription dose of lithium , you will risk blood sugar and other problems.
