Sunshine, when I used to city garden little like you I would trellis things like cucumbers.

Just put the trellis on the side of the garden away from the sun so that you don't block the other plants from getting sun and you can grow all sorts of climbing things real nice. I did pole beans, cukes and little squashes that way.
