Hi All,

I've just clicked to something again. I want to post it here and see if anyone else has experienced anything like this.

Briefly - I've just recently joined the forum. (I only established about a week ago that mercury intox is likely the cause of an array of health problems I've experienced over the past decade.) Although I hadn't been aware of what the cause of my problems actually was, I have, for the last 6 months, been doing a detox programme involving a cocktail of vitamin c, alpha lipoic acid, multiminerals and glutathion timed in with visits to the sauna of about 1 1 /2 hours.

Now this is the interesting bit: - almost after every detox cocktail , about the time I would get home from the sauna, my partner and friends would commented frequently that my breath smelt "metallic". I queried this and one of them best described it as "your breath smells like the taste of a tarnished spoon." Apparently it only ever smelt like this directly after the detox cocktails. Only 2 hours later and apparently it was gone.

A brief anatomy/physiology refresh: what you sometimes smell on some ones breath doesn't necessarily have anything to do with what they've eaten, food traces left in the mouth, oesophagus or the like. Often, such as the case with alcohol or garlic, what you are smelling is actually the presence of these compounds in the person's blood - you are smelling it via the gas exchange taking place over a very large surface area of lung tissue (the alveoli). This is the reason why breath testing is used as an indicator of blood alcohol content.

Getting back to it - I of course dismissed it totally at the time, "metallic", what metals, rubbish. As far as I was concerned, I was detoxing some amorphous pesticide residues, carbon compounds or goodness know's what. Cause I certainly didn't.

Now that I've learned a LOT more, not only about mercury and amalgam but also about exactly how the products I was taking interact with heavy metals, it all, I think, makes crystal clear sense. My hypothesis, (I may be wrong, but I don't think so) is: the ala and also perhaps the chlorella I was taking were latching onto the mercury in my tissues and then merrily racing around with it in my system, while I was attempting to sweat it out in the sauna. What my friends smelt on my breath was, I think, the heavy metals (mercury etc) bound to the chelators still in my blood at the time. That the metallic odor then vanished within a couple of hours also makes perfect sense - ala (and perhaps chlorella also??) only bind mercury for 3-4 hours before getting sick of it and dumping it back into the tissues.

Has anyone else had this experience?

I find it quite worrying, putting it mildly, if I have that degree of heavy metals intoxication that it can be smelt on my breath after a high dose of ala. I only had 4 amalgams and I wouldn't have thought that they could be responsible for this. However I also grew up on an orchard in the 70's and 80's and was exposed to a lot of industrial pesticides, which are of course loaded with mercury, nickel and many other goodies. Plus I also live on an island now and tend to eat a reasonable amount of fish, which doesn't help.

Well, I've ordered Algin this morning which I'm really pleased about. Can't wait to start on it. I've got mercury symptoms 24/7 right now following the reaction to a composite filling put into my mouth by a dentist about ten days ago. Have decided to go off ala and chlorella for the moment, cause although helping in the past, I have the feeling they're aggravating more than anything else in this acute situation.

Keen for any feed back.

Cheers
steve
