I had some amalgams replaced last week, and now one of the teeth is now very sensitive to hot and cold drinks? Whats that then? Its been a week now and it still hurts.

Dawn, if your gums are receding you are definitely allergic or highly sensitive to the filling material in the tooth.
I hate to say it because i know that you have already lost teeth, as I have given up a few too, but you would be much better off simply getting the tooth extracted.
I had two molars that were driving me nuts, one giving me an awful neck pain (big amalgam in that one), and the other (composite filling in that one) causing constant swollen glands and hurting the entire right side of my jaw and face, with an earache on that side to top it off. The dentists kept telling me they could fix it but from my experience that really only means 'we can try'. For the sake of my overall health, not for the sake of my pretty teeth, I had both of those teeth pulled over the past couple months and have finally recovered. One dentist diagnosed the jaw pain/earache as TMJ (I think that's what they call it) but I was pretty sure it was the composite filling. There really aren't any methods to truly check for sensitivity to composite materials, some may do an ok job but none are perfect. I had the tooth extracted and guess what, no TMJ symptoms anymore, gone completely within two weeks. I am quite sure it was the plastic composite.
One of the primary signs of sensitivity to filling materials is the receding gums, your body is trying to get away from the material in a sense so your gums recede. It's like wearing cheap earrings that make your ears itch real bad but in this case it is in your tooth and you can't take the darn thing out for relief.

As Dawn mentioned, I would definitely do the oil pulling, that is a miraculous way to detox and heal the mouth and gums.

Ok, good to know this happens….hopefully it will settle down.
I went back to the dentist, he made a quick adjustment to the bite by drilling a little of the new composite off. Lets see what happens in the next few days.
I am already Oil Pulling so that will help in any case.
Sensodyne toothpaste. Ummmm….no thanks dude. I no longer use any products from any companies that sell poison to the unsuspecting. This gunk has fluoride in it, and the last thing I need at the moment is more toxic poison in me.
Active Ingredients: Potassium Nitrate (5%), Sodium Fluoride (0.145% w/v fluoride ion)
Inactive Ingredients: Cellulose Gum, Flavor, Glycerin, Polyethylene Glycol, Silica, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Sodium Saccharin, Tetra Potassium Pyrophosphate, Titanium Dioxide, Water

Sensitivity to heat is usually a sign of nerve damage , often because the dentist did'nt keep the tooth cool by putting cold water on it and by working slowly. This may take a very long time too heal.

Coenzyme Q is often helpful in stopping gum recession.

Sosick I have receding gums as well. So makes me wonder about my composites too, yet they appeared to recede far worse after a course of antibiotics (obviously killed off so much of the good bacteria).
Sunshine, heard this many times with composites. Initial sensitivitiy. It can take quite sometime before things settle more. Sometimes it is caused by the drilling, it is quite traumatic for the tooth. So couple that with a new dental material, and it may take a couple of months to settle back down. Hope what the dentist did will help you.

My gums have been receding for years, I think it is mostly caused from the symbiotic relationship that mercury has with bacteria and yeast ...I read that somewhere....but don't ask me where. with brain fog and now chemo brain too, I can't find a damned thing anymore!!!

Vitamin c, biofalavonoids, calcium and magnesium supplements will help strengthen the teeth and gums. Rinsing your mouth with warm water with a teaspoon of salt dissolved in it will help disinfect your mouth, and help sooth sore gums. I suggest that you start using antifungals.

This morning the sensitivity in my tooth is 70pct better It is still slightly sensitive, but only mildly so. Since I had the bite adjusted yesterday I assume that this the reason for things returning to normal. Happy dayz!
