It depends on what tests you are talking about. Remember, mercury generally does not show up in urine, unless there is a provocation test being done by a heavy metal chelation doctor who will give you a chelating agent like DMSA or DMPS and then have you go home and collect your urine. Beware of anyone wanting to give you a DMPS challenge test because they are extremely dangerous. So, urine alone, will not show up mercury because it is in our tissues and brain and other organs. Also, blood may not show it up either. If you read Andy Cutler's book or Dr. Huggins Book, they explain safe ways to be tested for mercury. One of these tests is the urine porphyrin test. Then they list a bunch of blood tests that are indicative of mercury toxicity which can be diagnositic to a doctor familiar with amalgam illness.
The bottom line is; you could take some DMSA or DMPS which will provoke the mercury and then collect your urine. This would be done by a doctor who knows what the heck he is doing. But straight urine alone will not show up mercury, unless one was acutely poisoned, e.g. broken thermometer exposure. Chronic poisoning from amalgam fillings does not show up in a straight urine test (usually). Is this doctor heavy metal chelation doctor?
