If you're going to go on what can only be proved beyond any doubt as true, then you will be living in a vacuum.
Investigators learn many things using correlating evidence. Scientists use many methods to deduce truth. Many things we depend on every day we have only a partial or small understand about (gravity, the inner working of the human cell, etc.) yet we utilize these truths to get things done and do useful things.
In other words, we don't have to know everything about everything to do anything.
Simply put, evolution is based on junk science and is promoted with an agenda. It's simple. I love science but evolution is simply not based on science. The only reason people are so convinced in evolution is because they are incapable
or unwilling in believing in global conspiracies.
The methods used to promote evolution are the same that have been used to promote the safety of mercury in amalgam fillings. The people who do these evil things are not very creative, although they are quite smart, so they use the same techniques for promoting well-constructed convincing lies.
If God allows bad things to happen because he is trying to teach or show us something, then pity the poor innocent victims getting caught up in it all.
I think you're missing the point. It's more complex than that.
(1) It's generally up to us how our lives go.
(2) No one is innocent.
(3) God
does promise to prevent anything from happening to us that is beyond what we are capable of handling, but (and here's where it gets a little more complicated) that is if we reach an age that we can understand God and we accept his offer in covenant. If we reject His covenant knowing what we are doing, God does not have an outstanding offer of protection, although I believe He still does to a lessor degree.
You have to remember that you're not dealing with a computer program here. You are dealing with a living being that is much bigger and smarter and nicer than both of us and He has a personality. He decides what He wants to do but He does give us rules (for our protection) and wants to enter a loving covenant with us which, if we agree to do, He agrees to provide certain protection and blessings for us. I'll include some scripture that will help you understand the Biblical positions on these things.
In the 23 Psalm, David says:
"Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death...David fully understood that God (in His covenant) did not state that He would prevent David from walking through the "valley of the shadow of death" (evil), but David knew that God did promise to:
"...never leave thee, nor forsake thee."—Hebrews 13:5
So David said:
"...for thou art with me..."We humans really have to get off of our self-righteous kick and realize that we are imperfect and pretty darn selfish.
If we are created by God, He owns us. He has the moral right to tell us what is right and wrong. Simple.
Here is the actual covenant promise:
"There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it."—1 Corinthians 10:13
Here are some Biblical references to help you understand the Biblical position.
"For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure."—Philippians 2:13
"Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself: That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:"—Ephesians 1:9-10
"Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom."—Luke 12:32
"And thou shalt return and obey the voice of the LORD, and do all his commandments which I command thee this day. And the LORD thy God will make thee plenteous in every work of thine hand, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy land, for good: for the LORD will again rejoice over thee for good, as he rejoiced over thy fathers: If thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which are written in this book of the law, and if thou turn unto the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul. For this commandment which I command thee this day, it is not hidden from thee, neither is it far off. It is not in heaven, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go up for us to heaven, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it? Neither is it beyond the sea, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go over the sea for us, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it? But the word is very nigh unto thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou mayest do it. See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil; In that I command thee this day to love the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments, that thou mayest live and multiply: and the LORD thy God shall bless thee in the land whither thou goest to possess it. But if thine heart turn away, so that thou wilt not hear, but shalt be drawn away, and worship other gods, and serve them; I denounce unto you this day, that ye shall surely perish, and that ye shall not prolong your days upon the land, whither thou passest over Jordan to go to possess it. I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live: That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them."—Deuteronomy 30:8-20
How on earth can you say with any certainty that some people on earth have fates, and others have blank slates? Because God or the Bible says so?
The reason you have faith in anything is because "it" has proven itself to you. Like building a relationship, when someone turns out to be right over and over and has provided evidence that they are reliable, then your "faith" in them grows.
The Bible goes far beyond this and provides gamatria and prophecy and numerous other evidences to demonstrate that it is indeed written by God through men and is reliable.
God may also reveal Himself to each individual who enters covenant with Him. (Notice I don't say that "He will" because it's up to Him whether He will or not.) He revealed Himself to me through several astounding events in my life.
All of the study, evidence inside and outside the Bible, and astounding personal experiences convinced me that the Bible is exactly what it claims to be and that Christ is exactly who He claims to be.
So...
When the Bible talks about the predestination of some (still within their will, mind you—they simply have a job to do) and the free will of others, I believe it because of my faith in the integrity of the Bible through the evidences I've received, and because it makes complete sense in context, i.e., it all fits together perfectly even though it was penned by several people over thousands of years.
Again, I am a skeptic and it took many years for me to accept the Bible for what it is, but study finally paid off.
Other people say that you are reincarnated according to the level of karma you have achieved in your string of existences so far. Because the Vedas say so. (Or maybe the Upanishads, or something else.) Does one religion have more authority and truth than another?
Absolutely.
There is only one truth. If reincarnation occurs, then certain aspects of the Bible are not true. (They are mutually exclusive.)
Based on my findings of the overwhelming evidence of the integrity of the Bible placed against the subjective evidence of past lives and considering the Biblical explanation for these types of phenomena, I clearly see that the Biblical explanation must be correct. Of course, this takes study (today is my study day, by the way).
"And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation."—Hebrews 9:27-28
If there is one truth than why should I aspire to live anything but it. Should I desire to live a lie? Certainly not.
You see, I understand well how most people come to their conclusions about what it real and what it true, and I know that their process is much more speculation and emotionalism than evidence. This does not work for me. I need evidence. I have been called a "doubting Thomas" by some.
Morality can and should exist regardless of what religion a person follows.
It's important to distinguish between religion and reality.
Religion is a man-made system, perhaps a tradition or ceremony.
Reality is truth. If the Biblical God exists and if the Biblical God wrote the Bible, then perhaps we should humbly pay attention.
"Take heed lest there shall be any one that maketh spoil of you through his philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ:"—Colossians 2:8
