PWCCA, Ive noticed, you tend to branch into some kind of patronsing accusations towards anybody that questions the evolution theory being taught in the science room. Do you really think that calling someone a Christian or "Christian fundamentalist" is somehow insulting and an ongoing instrument for you to use in order to blur your own obvious bias here? Im proud of my faith, but I have no need for it to be drummed into people in a science room as the evolutionists do to keep their belief alive. It's actually the only way they can do it because if they discontinue preaching it, the student then begins to think for themselves based on the factual science he/she is being exposed to. This is how school subject should work. Fantasies and ideas should not have to enter into it, unless you're teaching a subject on myths/legends.

So I will politely and clearly as I can, get the subject back to that <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />.

What i have mentioned is what you touched upon in your above post. The theory/fact of evolution and the responsibility of those in the science arena to NOT mislead students, but rather teach the science that they can observe and any ideas outside of that should definitely be CLEARLY stated as such and should then be open to ideas of intelligent design as well. Both are beliefs on how we got here and to give the students both options to consider (or ignore if they wish) is much fairer obviously.

but again to give both views in a science classroom would likely take up an enormous amount of time, (let's be honest here) and just imagine the arguments in the classroom between believers and non believers? Check this forum out for an example. This is exactly what would occur in the science room. Trust me it would erupt into ongoing debates.

So if ONE theory is taught, either the student feels happy with the theory being suggested OR has to remain silent because there isn't the option of intelligent design and it isn't up for debate. It's simply religious to believe that, but scientific to consider evolution....This is eventually what people believe. Why do you suppose the majority in science believe evolution? Because that is what is being taught, it's a no brainer. You teach students what you want them to believe even without facts to back this up, training them like monkeys and they'll parrot the same.

I feel it is better for them to take up most of the time with true science and then the rest that we cannot test, the ideas could be discussed carefully (perhaps quite briefly) either way. But again bias/dishonesty will always creep in when it gets off solid science and into the realm of fantasy/ideas.

Teaching "beliefs" in a science room is going to be problematic for the obvious reasons. I still dont see the necessity of it when the rest of science takes up enough time as it is. True science and the study of it requires a lot of study, why do you suppose that unless evolution is taught, we are shutting down the minds of students? Are you afraid that if a bias or this ONE idea is not taught/proposed, that maybe the students will then have the chance to consider something else? Believe me, they won't consider anything else if the teacher drums evolution in to them and this is exactly what we see. So rather than opening their minds, they are pretty much moulding them into their own belief system (evolution). how is that science?

You ask any evolutionist and most will tell you it's a fact. Watch the nature shows as a prime example of the push for evolution. The only reality you get is the observed present or photographed/filmed past (none of which contain any examples of evolution, apart from the narrators suggestions). The unrecorded history is happily filled in for us by the evolutionists and the viewers sit there swallowing it happily.

You know that people are bias, all of us are in one way or the other. Everybody on here is no matter how much we pretend we're not. Giving ideas to kids is ok if you are going to allow for questioning and to be honest to call it an "idea" rather than being deceitful about it and attempting to have them believe it as fact (so many do). If they were already doing this, we would not have people adamant that evolution is a fact. It is the ONLY theory taught in the science room, which is why so many believe it happened. They consider the idea of design unscientific.

So it's all fine and great that we can sit here PWCCA and discuss what would be fair, but it isn't really happening out there is it? Evolution is up for you I or to believe, not up for the science teacher to push on students because they are against OR are NOT allowed to teach any idea other than one which supports an anti intelligent design theory. Both of these views are so completely opposite and opposed to the other, that we must come to either conclusion. Either we got here by chance, or we got here by purpose.
