Hi Bex,
My daughter sneezes like crazy when there's just a little bit of dust flying around too, she's our dust monitor.
If it's fumes from materials related to the ventilation system it will probably go away, but can take weeks. Paint, caulks, whatever, do take some time to cure. I would make a habit of opening the windows to air the house out for at least an hour a day (with the heat or air running) to get fresh air recirculating through the system. It'll help the new materials cure quicker too. I do that in our house too even though the work here is not recent, just as a matter of habit.
It has been dreadfully hot here, haven't been outside for more than 5 minutes in days. But I still open the windows every morning for fresh air, and then again in the evening. I lock em up as the thermometor heads toward 100. I need to bring my suffering plants in early this year I think they would enjoy some relief too. I think plants make a big difference in the house. The palms are pretty easy to take care of, not fussy at all. Other types can get messy, if they are dropping leaves everywhere. Aloe plants are real easy too. Put them in a big clay pot and they get really big, all sorts of benefits for you also. They need very little sun and water, just drown them once a month or so, and when they are bigger you can pull the bottom leaves and eat one now and then. Good topical for the skin too. I put flower bulbs in the pots with palms, they are fabuous in winter, makes the house smell real nice too.
